The camera actually has DSLR functions like tracking autofocus in point-and-shoot mode. The iPhone 6 doesn't have this. + the ultra-fast battery charging has allowed me to charge my Galaxy S6 Edge in about an hour, whereas it took me nearly 2.5 hours to charge my iPhone 6. + 14nm CPU, DDR4 RAM and UFS flash memory makes the Galaxy S6 smoother and faster than the iPhone 6.

Still rocking an S4, kept the phone in pristine condition with just a Neo Hybrid and glass screen protector.. not seeing any reason to upgrade still, the S5 was a minor upgrade and the S6 removes the features i love (Removable battery, expandable storage).

The battery life on the Galaxy S6/S6 edge is the best out of all the smartphones on the market (except phablets). Max Beefsteak I've upgraded from the S4 and while the S4 is still great with the new Lollipop update it's still a big upgrade. What do you use the micro sd cards mostly for? I went with the 64GB version, which is much more convenient than having to deal with 2 separate storages in daily situations, and for the few holidays where I might want to take quite a few movies with me for the flight I got one of the microsd card readers that plug right into the USB port. They're smaller than a coin and fit easily on a keychain. www.meenova.com

Great review. Pro tip: I've been able to get around 6hrs screen on time with my S6 Edge on T-Mobile. I use Greenify (root) and DS Battery Saver for deep sleep and then I disabled/froze all the bullshit bloat with Titanium Backup. I agree no phone in 2015 should take this much tweaking to get it to last longer, but hey, at least us nerds can succeed where Samsung failed lol

This is the best phone I ever had. Also I think the most beautiful phone ever made, and I loved the size of it. It gave up on life a couple weeks ago after HEAVY use. I bought it second hand two years ago and I've forged it in games, videos, extreme heat and cold, drops without a case. It still held pretty well, the performance was decent for such an old device loaded with a lot of up to date apps. The only problem being the small af battery life. I upgraded to a S10 +. Samsung for the win.
IPhone is a luxury product. When people see you with an IPhone they know you making that money. Apple know how to make all their features on the iPhone feel easy. That why people call the iPhone a granny phone because it's so easy to use them. Keep downloading apps on your android phone you something get various and other stuff. Really ! . But you are speeding your money so pick the best one that work for you.

Look into net worth, investments and savings and lack of debt for someone's "pockets"! The phone someone uses will never be an indicator of how much money they have. Trying to convince myself to sell my M8 to get an S6. Love the videos. You go over things I never would've thought about and stuff other reviewers never mention.
I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S4 for about 2 years now, and I'm looking for a good upgrade since the battery has always been a problem, and things are starting to lag now and then. My first option was the slightly older HTC One M8, but it doesn't have a good camera, then I laid my eyes on the recent One M9 but it was a bit too expensive. So now I'm doing some research on the Nexus 6 since a friend of mine has one. It has a nice screen and from what I've seen: the camera seems to be alright. But like I always do, I have to get my main man Floss' opinion. So what would be the best choice as of now? I am someone who takes a lot of photos, and videos. I see my phone as my portable camera for when I don't have my Canon with me. Also something important: battery life, I am almost always on the go so I don't have a charger with me all the time. And finally; speed. A phone must be able to handle all of my photos, videos, and some games. As always, thank you for these videos! I mean 40 mins, jeez! Kemal P. Yeah man I had the Nexus 6. The only reason honestly someone should get it is for the software. Don't get me wrong, all the hardware is up to par and better. But there is nothing to sway you from another phone. Speakers we're great, software was the best and hacking around made it a joy to use, but battery life was just above average.. Screen was beautiful, camera was a bit above average. It was fantastic, but there are loads of other phones that can get some of those things done. You are only going for it, again, for software and maybe price. Note 4 is good for what I think you would like. I only never got it since I absolutely used to hate touch wiz. I have an s6 edge now and couldn't be more satisfied unless the battery life got a bit better. Hope this helps, I recommend this over anything if you can save. Note 4 is about the same price so might as well look into it.

I have friends who have to carry a powerbanks as big as a brick with them so their phones stay alive. As for the software, that's probably the only reason I took a look at the Nexus in the first place. I love to take advantage of Android's open world. You can mod and tweak everything! I bought a OnePlus One for my dad about 3 weeks ago, and he can literally change everything, and all of that is built-in, but I'm more in for a phablet. The Note 4 on the other hand has almost everything I want; - (I read it has) an amazing battery life, - a 4k camera(!), - it handles heavy games easily. Not only is that exactly what I want, it also comes in at in at a good price; 580 euros off-contract. I'm not sure if I'm going to get it with a contract but that's for later :)

david f at first no, it was a tad worse. I have the tmobile s6 and they have a few extra built in apps running in the background. I disabled them plus alot of other apps I don't use. Now I go a full day on medium to heavy usage, kinda like adding maybe 20% battery to the s4. I love the s6 now. Like I said at first I was thinking about returning it because it only made it a half a day. I also run the battery saving mode thing, and shut off all vibrating keypad stuff.
Gonna get mine some time this week (S6 Edge). Coming from an iPhone 5. Lol. You, Sir, are fortunate. You're able to buy those cases in your country. Whereas here (Philippines), scarcity of case with proper protection and aesthetics is scarce. I envy you.

Vanessa Mertilus I upgraded from the iPhone 6 to the Galaxy S6 and it was a HUGE upgrade even though the 2 phones are only 8 months apart. The biggest upgrades for me were the Quad-HD display and 16MP OIS camera with DSLR functionality. I'm VERY surprised in the vast technological difference between the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 is at least 18 months behind technologically. I don't think even the iPhone 6s will catch up to the Galaxy S6 in terms of technological level.
I am not sure, if there isn't already someone in the comments mentioned it, but you can easily access external storage by microUSB on device. All it takes is card reader with microUSB, microUSB flash drive or OTG cable to plug regular stuff into. It's not ideal, but there is a way, and it's still pretty elegant one.
Keith Beacham Well the Note series is the everything and maybe the kitchen sink phone. I think they're trying to really separate the S line from it, thus waterproof last time, sleek and shiny this time. On the plus side it means the Note 5 will have this new fingerprint scanner I guess, have a Note 3 myself, the Lollipop update did a lot for it.
***** Hard to say, because the Note series is geared toward power users I guess, if they don't allow removable batteries and memory expansion a lot of potential customers will throw quite a shitfit. Assuming people were content with the Note 4's metal frame but continued plastic back, they'll probably stick with it.
What appeals to many note users is the S pen functionality , performance , & the big screen . I don't think lack of sd card & removable battery will be a deal breaker for majority of note users.

I don't know why people pick on the Galaxy S5 so much. It's not a bad phone. The fingerprint scanner is not as bad as people think it is. It may not be the best fingerprint scanner on the market, but it's not impossible to use. I can get mines to work about 85 to 90% of the time. Besides, why you like a phone that has fewer features because, of the look? That's stupid!

+john johnson johnson you are right, this galaxy s6 edge lacks so many useful features. it can never be compared to the galaxy s5 lte-a, which has similar specs and with a lot more features and options. i used the galaxy s5 lte-a and now am using the s6 g925p.
Mr. Carter: Quite an extensive review!!! I picked up some worth while points, thank you. I've had my S6 edge for about three months, and love it. I have the 128 GB model. At first, it was concerned about memory issues, therefore I went with the 128 GB model. But then I discovered that Sandisk has a flash drive with dual ends, one where you can plug into the phone, and download data/ pics ets, then another end with a USB 2.0 plug so you can plug in to your laptop and download from phone or vis versa.(you can get up to 128 GB with this, thereby jumping your memory to 256 GB)

Flossy Carter 8:40 The main reason behind the edge being an extra $100 is because at the manufacturing plant they need to heat 1 pane of touchscreen glass to around 800 degrees Celsius and then carefully place it on a mold and then let it cool. So it takes a lot of craftsmanship to bend the screen over, but yes you are right in saying for $100 you don't get enough out of the selling point of the S6 Edge (I know this because I own an S6 Edge)

Good review ive been waiting for this. One thing i cant get out of my mind though. Why dont you talk about sony phones when comparing. For example xperia z3 has same if not better build, better and smoother android experience and camera is up to par. You say before s6 m9 was best build but now s6 takes the crown, but z3 has same:ish build as s6. All im saying is you gotta give sony some creds, otherwise i would like to know why not? Yes, the battery could be improved but after i do "use the bathroom, shower, and shave" (lol) that is when the fast charging comes in handy. This is indeed a real review! I own Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it really lags compared to my previous HTC One. Especially when open recent apps. Most reviewers only say the new Galaxy S6/S6 edge are smooth, no problem, no one mentions this issue. HTC is still the best on optimize Android.

Did you try a side-by-side of the speakers from the S6/Edge? For some reason the S6 Edge is supposedly the loudest heavyweight phone right now even though the S6 ain't. Louder than the M9, iPhone 6+, Nexus 6, and the S6. They're both supposed to be louder than the M9 and 6+, but the S6 is a little quieter than the Nexus 6. You hella right about what happens when folks see the Edge though. Most of my friends are iPhone cats and even several of them look at their iPhone with doubt in their eyes about their decision in phones haha.
Floss keep up the good vids. I've just got the s6,have you had problems with vids being dark sometimes or no video but you still have sound. I think this phones has a lot of bugs. It happens on face book a lot. Thanks

One of them is the value and benefit of having a good tempered glass screen protector. I purchased the iloome tempered glass for my Samsung Galaxy S5 and it absolutely saved my phone when I stepped on ice coming down my stairs outside last winter... This is the best phone I ever had. Also I think the most beautiful phone ever made, and I loved the size of it. It gave up on life a couple weeks ago after HEAVY use. I bought it second hand two years ago and I've forged it in games, videos, extreme heat and cold, drops without a case. It still held pretty well, the performance was decent for such an old device loaded with a lot of up to date apps. The only problem being the small af battery life. I upgraded to a S10 +. Samsung for the win.

IPhone is a luxury product. When people see you with an IPhone they know you making that money. Apple know how to make all their features on the iPhone feel easy. That why people call the iPhone a granny phone because it's so easy to use them. Keep downloading apps on your android phone you something get various and other stuff. Really ! . But you are speeding your money so pick the best one that work for you.

I don't comment much but this is a ridiculous perception. I would advise anyone reading this not to ever assume someone has money because of the phone they use. Look into net worth, investments and savings and lack of debt for someone's "pockets"! The phone someone uses will never be an indicator of how much money they have. And before someone mentions exception items such as the gold phones and platinum plates phones-those are specialty items.
Trying to convince myself to sell my M8 to get an S6. Love the videos. You go over things I never would've thought about and stuff other reviewers never mention.
I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S4 for about 2 years now, and I'm looking for a good upgrade since the battery has always been a problem, and things are starting to lag now and then. My first option was the slightly older HTC One M8, but it doesn't have a good camera, then I laid my eyes on the recent One M9 but it was a bit too expensive.
So now I'm doing some research on the Nexus 6 since a friend of mine has one. It has a nice screen and from what I've seen: the camera seems to be alright.
But like I always do, I have to get my main man Floss' opinion. So what would be the best choice as of now?
I am someone who takes a lot of photos, and videos. I see my phone as my portable camera for when I don't have my Canon with me. Also something important: battery life, I am almost always on the go so I don't have a charger with me all the time. And finally; speed. A phone must be able to handle all of my photos, videos, and some games.

If you're considering the huge phablet Nexus 6 then for your needs I'd go with a Note 4. It has the camera and battery you want.
bodrulm1 Size is not a problem for me since I have big hands :). I think you're right, I am already used to Touchwiz and the Note 4 has an amazing camera. I'm gonna do some research on it, and I'll tell you my final choice :)
Kemal P. Yeah man I had the Nexus 6. The only reason honestly someone should get it is for the software. Don't get me wrong, all the hardware is up to par and better. But there is nothing to sway you from another phone. Speakers we're great, software was the best and hacking around made it a joy to use, but battery life was just above average.. Screen was beautiful, camera was a bit above average. It was fantastic, but there are loads of other phones that can get some of those things done. You are only going for it, again, for software and maybe price. Note 4 is good for what I think you would like. I only never got it since I absolutely used to hate touch wiz. I have an s6 edge now and couldn't be more satisfied unless the battery life got a bit better. Hope this helps, I recommend this over anything if you can save. Note 4 is about the same price so might as well look into it.

Tony Bauer Thank you for your useful reply! Yes, battery life is really something that's important to me. I have friends who have to carry a powerbanks as big as a brick with them so their phones stay alive.
As for the software, that's probably the only reason I took a look at the Nexus in the first place. I love to take advantage of Android's open world. You can mod and tweak everything! I bought a OnePlus One for my dad about 3 weeks ago, and he can literally change everything, and all of that is built-in, but I'm more in for a phablet.
The Note 4 on the other hand has almost everything I want;
- (I read it has) an amazing battery life,
- a 4k camera(!),
- it handles heavy games easily.
Not only is that exactly what I want, it also comes in at in at a good price; 580 euros off-contract. I'm not sure if I'm going to get it with a contract but that's for later :)

david f at first no, it was a tad worse. I have the tmobile s6 and they have a few extra built in apps running in the background. I disabled them plus alot of other apps I don't use. Now I go a full day on medium to heavy usage, kinda like adding maybe 20% battery to the s4. I love the s6 now. Like I said at first I was thinking about returning it because it only made it a half a day. I also run the battery saving mode thing, and shut off all vibrating keypad stuff.

MrFranchise82 I upgraded from the iPhone 6 to the Galaxy S6 Edge and it was a HUGE upgrade for me. The biggest upgrades were the Quad HD display and 16MP OIS camera with DSLR functions like tracking auto focus. The iPhone 6/6+ don't have these.

I'm VERY surprised in the vast technological difference between the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 is at least 18 months behind technologically.
I don't think even the iPhone 6s will catch up to the Galaxy S6 in terms of technological level.
This looks like a great phone. I have the LG G3. Can't wait to see what they do with the G4. I hope its worthy of an upgrade.
I am not sure, if there isn't already someone in the comments mentioned it, but you can easily access external storage by microUSB on device. All it takes is card reader with microUSB, microUSB flash drive or OTG cable to plug regular stuff into. It's not ideal, but there is a way, and it's still pretty elegant one.

Keith Beacham Well the Note series is the everything and maybe the kitchen sink phone. I think they're trying to really separate the S line from it, thus waterproof last time, sleek and shiny this time. On the plus side it means the Note 5 will have this new fingerprint scanner I guess, have a Note 3 myself, the Lollipop update did a lot for it.
Yes I think they're going all premium build now for the top 🔝 of the line phones!
***** Hard to say, because the Note series is geared toward power users I guess, if they don't allow removable batteries and memory expansion a lot of potential customers will throw quite a shitfit. Assuming people were content with the Note 4's metal frame but continued plastic back, they'll probably stick with it.
What appeals to many note users is the S pen functionality , performance , & the big screen . I don't think lack of sd card & removable battery will be a deal breaker for majority of note users.

I don't know why people pick on the Galaxy S5 so much. It's not a bad phone. The fingerprint scanner is not as bad as people think it is. It may not be the best fingerprint scanner on the market, but it's not impossible to use. I can get mines to work about 85 to 90% of the time. Besides, why you like a phone that has fewer features because, of the look? That's stupid!
If your phones fingerprint scanner only works 85% of the time, it's trash. Stop making excuses for these companies.

+john johnson johnson you are right, this galaxy s6 edge lacks so many useful features. it can never be compared to the galaxy s5 lte-a, which has similar specs and with a lot more features and options. i used the galaxy s5 lte-a and now am using the s6 g925p.

Mr. Carter: Quite an extensive review!!! I picked up some worth while points, thank you. I've had my S6 edge for about three months, and love it. I have the 128 GB model. At first, it was concerned about memory issues, therefore I went with the 128 GB model. But then I discovered that Sandisk has a flash drive with dual ends, one where you can plug into the phone, and download data/ pics ets, then another end with a USB 2.0 plug so you can plug in to your laptop and download from phone or vis versa.(you can get up to 128 GB with this, thereby jumping your memory to 256 GB)

Flossy Carter 8:40 The main reason behind the edge being an extra $100 is because at the manufacturing plant they need to heat 1 pane of touchscreen glass to around 800 degrees Celsius and then carefully place it on a mold and then let it cool. So it takes a lot of craftsmanship to bend the screen over, but yes you are right in saying for $100 you don't get enough out of the selling point of the S6 Edge (I know this because I own an S6 Edge)

Preciate the review. I might stick with my S5 for a min. The real deal breakers were the removable battery, water proof, and expanded memory being missing. It's a better build quality but the reason I've used Samsung was for the expanded memory and removable battery

Good review ive been waiting for this. One thing i cant get out of my mind though. Why dont you talk about sony phones when comparing. For example xperia z3 has same if not better build, better and smoother android experience and camera is up to par. You say before s6 m9 was best build but now s6 takes the crown, but z3 has same:ish build as s6. All im saying is you gotta give sony some creds, otherwise i would like to know why not? Flossy Carter have the Note edge but was tired of some the lag issues. Got that Nexus 6 and its a beast still like the edge but 6 will better for my daily driver right now. Build quality is sic on the S6 but will be to small for my tastes. Appreciate your real reviews.

I wanted to also let you know about the Ravpower WD03 for memory issues with the new devices that doesn't have much. Pretiate all of your hard work on these reviews...Im waiting on that Note 5 review or if Samsung decides to drop that flexible phone.
You were right Floss, this was a REAL review. I like how honest you were about each aspect of the phone. And yes, so what if samsung looks like apple, but samsung knew after the iphone 6 sales, they had to do something to get more consumers. I have the S6 and i love it. Yes, the battery could be improved but after i do "use the bathroom, shower, and shave" (lol) that is when the fast charging comes in handy. This is my first review i had seen from you; and i really enjoyed it. I liked the rawness of the review. Did bot even matter if u had edited it or not. Still enjoyed it. And i'm looking forward to more reviews.
This is indeed a real review! I own Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it really lags compared to my previous HTC One. Especially when open recent apps. Most reviewers only say the new Galaxy S6/S6 edge are smooth, no problem, no one mentions this issue. HTC is still the best on optimize Android.
Great review Floss. I went to best buy like three times trying to decide between the Edge and M9. Lol... They were probably watching me cuz I kept walking back and forth wasn't buying shit. Went with the M9 only because I prefer sense and the all metal build over the glass.. That s6 edge is a beast tho. You always keep it 1000!!! Keep em coming fam!

Did you try a side-by-side of the speakers from the S6/Edge? For some reason the S6 Edge is supposedly the loudest heavyweight phone right now even though the S6 ain't. Louder than the M9, iPhone 6+, Nexus 6, and the S6. They're both supposed to be louder than the M9 and 6+, but the S6 is a little quieter than the Nexus 6.
You hella right about what happens when folks see the Edge though. Most of my friends are iPhone cats and even several of them look at their iPhone with doubt in their eyes about their decision in phones haha.

Flossy, I'm a true fan of your reviews, you're thorough and honest. I've learned some really good stuff from your videos bro... One of them is the value and benefit of having a good tempered glass screen protector. I purchased the iloome tempered glass for my Samsung Galaxy S5 and it absolutely saved my phone when I stepped on ice coming down my stairs outside last winter... I also love the feel of the tempered glass bro, its so smooth, no finger drag, the look and feel of the screen protector are bangin, and here is my concern and my question...
I am waiting for the Note 5 edge to upgrade (Should have front facing stereo speakers and all the great features of the S6 plus the larger display and S pen) I think thats going to be the one bro... But as far as I know there doesn't seem to be a quality tempered glass for those curved screens...
