When I grow up I want to be just like you, honestly, Your family and friends must feel honoured to have you in their lives.I just watched your 2011 stocking stuffers, great tips.
EEN63, I agree with you. Invitations, regardless of the occasion, is simply good etiquette and always a nice touch.
I have had a holiday binder for years! Its so fun to plan out the day, decor, menu, shop lists. My favorite is the foods,I try to repeat the favorites that I wouldn't normally do ,that way its nice to look forward to +create a tradition. I like to choose fall colors in the foods, candies, dessert +decorations also I like to add music, movie + books for the season + a little gift for my guests to take home. I love using Better brand binders they are the most sturdy over time. Thanks for sharing Jen!
I like the idea of keeping track from previous so you know what to repeat and what people dont like and so you dont repeat.
I think I am going to start a binder, more for nostalgia purposes. We always have a friends "family" Thanksgiving the Saturday after Thanksgiving (because our friends are our family too). We have our traditions now and most of us make the same thing every year. But it would be fun to have a binder/scrapbook to look back on to see how things have changed and how all of our kids have grown! Thanks for the binder idea!
I work outside the home but not everyone has to to feel a sense of accomplishment. Jen is running her home and seems like a pretty happy person to me! Her family enjoys all of the efforts she puts into the Holiday and if she is content with her life and what she is doing I really don't think strangers should judge. Also her You Tube is WORK. Think about the filming, editing and everything involved! And so many people enjoy it! She is doing something meaningful!
I LOVE all your videos about entertaining/organization. Can't wait to see all the accoutrements: centerpieces, place settings, place cards, serving pieces, buffet set-up & home decor. I love that you send out invitations to your family/friends & it's a small memento of a wonderful day. A lovely touch that I appreciate... but I think the details really make all the difference! You'll be able to have a relaxed, efficient, enjoyable, cozy, classy & casual day of thanks & gratitude! Well done Jen!
I am so making a Holiday Folder too!!! that's a great idea, each year is a challenge on organizing and hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas, I cant believe i didn't make one before! thanks for sharing your ideas with us Jen!
Happy to hear you are doing your holiday series again
I must also add that I was a stay at home mom when my children were young and I thoroughly enjoyed that so I do see both sides, working at home and outside the home! I felt a tremendous sense of accomplishment running my home and taking care of my children. I wouldn't change a thing!!
Thank you Jen! We take turns hosting thanksgiving every other year and this has inspired me to work on a different way to help it all come together! Love these types of videos!
This was great information. We host a Super Bowl party every year and I thought I was the only person that kept my menus and invitees list. I love the suggestions for having them organized in a binder. Thanks!
excited about all of the holiday prep videos!
going to adopt this system for Christmas to help with future years as my family keeps on growing.
You have such great ideas. I enjoy your videos. My husband knows when I watch your videos. I get so many ideas. I started my prep last week. Thank you. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Great video, I get anxiety when I host event. Having a binder for prepping is an awesome idea and I will definitely do it for my next party. Looking foward to your Holiday Prep series!!
That is such a smart idea. I'm going to start working on my Thanksgiving binder tonight.
Great idea Jen. I wish I had done this all along! Thanks for making the holidays a little easier.
So glad you brought back your holiday prep series! I love these types of videos. I use binders a lot for organizing too :)
Thank you for making these videos Jen! They remind me of happier times in my life when my parents were together and would have these types of events. Now I can only wish that when I have a family of my own, I can be as amazing as you are!
That is a great idea of having the tables set the week prior. Thanks so much for sharing this Jen, you're the best!!! Super helpful. Thanks!!
Jen, I always like your videos and find them very useful, but this one WOW it is SO VERY VERY USEFUL!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! ♥
Another great video on preparing for the hols.Look forward to your vlogs thanks!
I love on the invite that you said that it says
"Bring your appetite and favorite slippers"
Cute! I really look forward to all your upcoming holiday videos!
Great video. I'm sure it helped so many people. I'm not hosting this year but I do plan ahead for all parties. I love the binder idea and will have to incorporate that when I plan my next party, probably for Christmas. You are such an inspiration especially to younger woman today. I think they all can learn so much from you and your love of organization and home making. I'm sure your guests will enjoy Thanksgiving at your home as it sounds like such a good time will be had by all.
Wow! Great video! You have done a fantastic job planning your holiday. This really makes it much easier.
your thanksgiving party sounds amazing. exactly as it should be, just a fun, cozy day. your guests will appreciate all your hard work and i will be using your binder idea to help in preparing to host a christmas get together this year:)
We don't have thanksgiving here in the UK but this is a GREAT idea for any holiday, especially Christmas! I might have to go out and buy some binders!
Thanks you've inspired me to begin prepping for my small Thanksgiving dinner in a new way!
Hi Jen, thanks for sharing this binder idea! I usually use a notebook and a folder duel-system but I really like the idea of the binder and pockets to keep everything in one place, so I will do that for my Christmas prep this year! I have already created the folders on my computer for each section, now I just need the supplies, so guess I'll be running out to Staples on my lunchbreak later today! :) Can't wait to see your holiday prep videos! :)
Totally copying the binder! I keep thinking about my Thanksgiving dinner (we have 15 showing up this year, and for me, thats A LOT) and I REALLY need to start organizing things! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!! Plus I like the idea of being able to look back at years prior and enjoy those memories! :)
This is very helpful. We have a crowd of 12-25 depending. I work full time so it can get crazy busy this time of year. I want to get more organized so this will really help. thanks!
Great organizing ideas; loving the binder setup. Thank you for sharing!
This is exactly why you should have a blog -I know it is in the works, so excited!! Then we could see everything close up; the invite, schedules, to do lists, etc Keep up the good work!
So excited for the stocking stuffer guide!! :)
You are so great at planning big holiday parties. Just wonderful tips!!! Thanks so much and I'm so happy that you will be back to vlogging soon. I've been having withdrawals since vlogtober ended. : ( Priscilla : )
I really enjoyed this video Jen, you have given me so many good ideas! Thank you!
your makeup looks flawless. i love this idea, thank you for sharing
Terrific ideas, thanks, huge historical value, makes a terrific gift for a newlywed neighbor
Thanks for the binder idea! That helps. I would love to see the Christmas one when you get it done.
You are so smart to keep a T-giving binder - I've been married 34 yrs & wish I had a binder full of memories like this as so many family members are gone now. A small suggestion might be to take a photo of your food to include with your yearly menu & also a group picture to include with your guest list - just would be fun to look at & see how people/things change thru the years.
I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house this year - thanks for all the helpful info. I am also stealing some of your tabletop decoration ideas from last year. :)
This folder is just awsome
Thanks for another great video, Jen!
thinking about using this idea for my son's birthday partys. Keeping track of guest and food and presents would really be easy using a binder! thanks for the idea!
great video. I do a lot of the same stuff you do except I have spreadsheet/worksheets on my computer that i keep and make minor changes yearly. I really like the binder idea though and will probably be doing it that way from now on. Thanks for another great vid!
I can't wait for the stocking stuffer guide!!!
I love binder organization! Thank you!
I'M EXCITED!
My Fav videos!!! Yeah for being organized this time of year.
We already celebrated Thanksgiving up here in Canada, but I'm definitely going to use these ideas next year! :D
Im so Happy Your back :) I missed your videos.
Enjoyed your thanksgiving video! Looking forward to the cupcakes!
Jen, your makeup in this video looks sooo pretty!
Great ideas!! Love your videos
Can't wait to see vlogidays!
I just found you, love you, subscribed! I can't wait to watch all of your videos.
We of course don't have Thanksgiving here in Australia but some of your tips are actually quite handy and adaptable to organising Christmas. Cheers Jen :)
Love these ideas!!!
Love love these Videos:)!!! Thanks Jen!!
I just love you, Jen, you are a breath of fresh air! Thank you so much for this video:)
xoxo Melody
great ideas! love these types of vids, they are really helpful! thanks for sharing
Great idea, thanks. I look forward to you Vlogidays videos too.
This is a fantastic idea.
We usually have plenty of food & if needed we can make a *kids* table in the kitchen
Yayyyyyy for the holidays!!!
Love the video! I've been doing something like this throughout my marriage (22 years!) and I love being able to look back at what I've done or changed through the years. It's sort of a "homemaking scrapbook." It might be interesting to keep a few receipts from your shopping....to remind you of how the cost changes from year to year. You might be surprised at the increases! Ha, ha, ha! I would also suggest adding a group photo of your guests and a photo of you and Don--just for fun! TFS! :o)
you take thanksgiving really seriously!
Hey Jen, love all the cool tips for set up and getting ready for the Holidays :)
xo Shawnee
I have a Thanksgiving scrapbook...might share the idea in a video soon
I found Winnie's photo hilarious!! I am intimidated by your guard dog. Hahaha
Can't wait for Vlogidays!
Thats exactly what i've done this year :) very helpful. I also have a sectio. Where i list all the items i will need to prepare like pie crust covers, mixing bowls etc and i check them off if i have them and if not, i know what i need to purchase
New subscribers don't mind repetitive videos :) I've been waiting to see if you'd post some holiday prep videos so I wouldn't have to watch the old ones! Love it! Youre great :)
awesome, thank-you! Can't wait for your holiday vlogs =)
Great idea!! I have a section in my homemaking binder for holidays, but your idea is great! I might be adopting it :) By the way, I must say you look lovely in this video :)
I saw your vlog from last year and your had a beautiful table setting, you should take pictures and include them in your binder. Love your ideas
Great ideas!
Jen, I would recommend to type your schedules (day before and thanksgiving day blue and yellow papers at the very front of the binder) on Word or Excel, print them out and put them on a sheet protector (just like the recipes). That way you can cross them off with a dry erase marker and when is all over you can wipe them off with a wipe and reuse them next year. Also, when I'm using them i put them on a bright color clip board, that way is easier to spot and write on it as i go around taking car
Thanks 4 sharing !
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in my country but one day I plan to move to the US, so this is helpful for future planning.
I love any of the P-Touch by brother labelers :)
I feel like I'm on Monica's Geller channel...and I love it
I have a similar binder but have a few more section...one for linens and dishes etc , another for decorations i have with pictures of how i decorated the different areas of my home and one for crafts i want to make ..In the beginning of my binder i do an overview of what worked, what i want to change, what i need for next year and what i have extra of ... I have a binder for Christmas, Halloween, New Years, Valentine, Easter , St Paddy's ,Canada Day , as well as Thanksgiving
my background picture from your computer is the same as mine! toning it up!
Ahww your gonna have a great Thanksgiving Dinner Party !! I got into using binders few years ago too. Beside each thing I make I put 1 to 5 stars on the sheet next to the dish as to how many people really like it. I even make little comments about what got said about what dish (if need be), but it helps. This year tho..I'm off to Las Vegas! Yeah!! Can't wait. I will let someone serve me this year ahww lol GREAT video!! -) Hi to Winnie!!
So organized :) Love it!
Awesome!
I like this idea - Thank for sharing :)
Haha, I loved the Winnie guard dog, to funny! And great ideas too, loved it. Put a winniethetzutube video up soon! We miss you guys! ^_^
I've always kept a binder with yearly menus and recipes but not to the extent that you do. Thanks for all the info. I love to entertain but have a teeny house. :( Wish I had room for more!
Would love your tips and when you start planning Xmas gift ideas/shopping!
You are so organized...I am SOOOOOO jealous!!! :)
I agree with the holiday binder
Throwing a nice party is a ton of work and planning to make your guests welcome and happy. I think Jen does have a very great career as a housewife. You seem to think being a housewife is less then. Jen does this for her husband, herself and her family. What more important group of people should any one serve is your family. I think you need to rethink your comment, I am sure you didn't mean to be mean about this.
you are ocd and I love it. I wish I could implement your methods.
I have a Thanksgiving scrapbook tradition I started in 2010...I may post a video on that soon
Could you do a gift wrapping ideas video? Love your organizing videos Jen!!!
Jen, please do a nail video showing us how you paint your nails. They always look so perfect!
I hope I am as put-together as you are when I grow up! (:
I love this idea! I so regret not having done something like this when I started hosting Thanksgiving for my family years ago. I wish I had the historical record to look back on. But, it's never too late to start, right? Thanks for the great ideas, Jen!
