As we reach the end of the dreaded class trial, one last puzzle awaits: the closing argument, accompanied by the melodic yet unusually melancholy piece, Climax Reasoning.
Coming into V3, I expected the standard change in much of the music from the previous 2 games: Ikoroshia became Despair Searching, Beautiful Ruin became Beautiful Lie, and the trial came with some amazing additions such as Scrum Debate. What I could never have predicted, was a change to the theme of the closing argument.
While I noticed a lot of mixed views on Climax Reasoning, I actually really enjoyed it. It creates a really distinct and unique feel compared to Climatic Reasoning from the previous 2 games.
Neither one is 'better' than the other. They are just... very different and set very different tones.

Anyway, the arrangement involves quite a big hybrid between different types of instruments: you've got the standard jazzy instruments that I tend to include (double bass, piano and rhodes), alongside more synth based instruments, original sounds and even a choir at one point.
There's a lot of subtle detail to the original that is really easy to miss. The bass part was a really interesting part to transcribe. It's one of those parts which sounds much more predictable than it actually is. It's this false sense of security that I really love about Takada's music!

I do not remember writing this at all. What the fuck was I on when I was a teen?
For some awful reason, I was not given a notification even though I clearly have it set! Immediately, I just want to say, I absolutely love this track from the moment I heard it. It felt very... melancholic. Like it was really hard for Shuichi to put together the case, regardless of who the culprit was. I like the added portions in the middle that continued to play the same while progressing the main melody of the song. The percussion was definitely on point for this one. And don't even think you got away with that little added New World Order/Climatic Reasoning violin drop. I really do love this rendition a lot more and how different it sounds from the original, but somehow really stays in character for the theme.
Dammit, thought I got away with the New World Order reference! But thank you, I was hoping that something softer and more mellow would maintain the feel of the original while providing its own uniqueness.
God, what a wonderful arrangement. If I were to came the feelings between the original and this version, id'd put it like this; the original give the feeling of the protagonist not wanting to accuse their classmates of murder, but having to do so if they wanted to survive. In your arrangement, I get the feeling the protagonist has come to peace with what they must do for the betterment of their innocent classmates.
Beyond that, I love the calming atmosphere that it gives off, a classy-yet-jazzy rhythm and feel to it. As usual, you were able to keep the impression Takada leaves on his work, while also integrating your own personal taste to make this track unique. Great job, man.
Thank you so much! That's a really interesting interpretation. Completely understand where you're coming from. The slightly more stand-offish nature of this arrangement helps to create that feeling of coming to terms with accusing your classmates, for the greater good.

Sorry for the even later comment but I love this song a lot and it resonates to me as reminding me the most of what hope vs despair really is in the series. The melody is tranquil and I can only think of it as walking through a bright hallway towards the answer which has always been there just hidden in plain sight.

Damn, this needs to play at my funeral to give the dread, despair inducing vibe. But this song is a bop even though it does give you a sense of apprehension, anxiety, dread, and DESPAIR. Love this song!!!!!

I really like this mate! Climax Reasoning V3 is my favourite track in gaming and yet I've never heard a remix before today. Really pleased with what I found! 3:27 is my favourite part of the original track which is a little more subdued here, but that was important to keep the beautifully subtle piano going throughout. Brill!

This remix carries both an energizing and soothing feeling in such an unusual way. I loved V3s closing argument for how somber it feels in places but also love how this one adds such a nice confident energy to it. Keep up the good work!

I really liked your arrangement, very mellowed and soothing, gives off another tone to be used in game while energetic enough to give it a different feel to the usual final argument. (Also noticed that there's slight overtones from other songs used in the series, nice touch)

Also noticed most of your arrangement seems to come from Spike Chunsoft games, which leads me to think if possible you could give the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon soundtracks a listen, those had good pieces involved.

I won't lie, the high amount of Spike Chunsoft game arrangements from me was completely unintentional and came as a result of falling in love with Danganronpa and Zero Escape music.
But to answer your request, I almost only ever make arrangements of games I've actually played so I understand the whole context behind the piece (with a few exceptions). But I've been wanting to explore more and I've listened to a lot of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon pieces already and love them. Been a while since I've played a Pokemon game, but there are loads of pieces I love from it.
You can expect more arrangements in the future from: Nintendo games, Legend of Heroes, Final Fantasy, Ace Attorney and Kingdom Hearts.
Everything Fantasy welp, I'll just take a look at them all since I love both of those series already, especially Zero Escape due to the amount of *tense* and heavy toned piece for them.
And hey, no pressure, trying to understand the context of the music is always better so you can experiment with it.
Tho, Nintendo games won't hurt, I've always liked Kingdom Hearts's music.
