Thanks for the video. I have the same problem. By the time this breaks, the NUC is probably 3-4 years old and a user is thinking about a replacement so why try so hard on a fix? What I did today was to follow the video and, finding the same broken point, just removed the button. Put the NUC back together and see that you have an open hole on the top and a clear shot to turn on the PC with a Q-tip. I know the NUC is going to fail soon so i'll minimal to keep it going.

My Fix for the same issue was to glue a little plastic support underneath the button where the living hinge broke. That way it still pivoted in the same spot, and I didn't have to do much. It works well. I used a small section of jumper wire housing and the fix took a few minutes.

It would be best to use acrylic bond to weld that broken piece. Acrylic bond is a solvent, it melts plastic joining pieces together.
My NUC has a different button problem, the black plastic button's contact peg couldn't reach the power button on the motherboard so I had to glue a rubber piece in between them. It works now but I still have to push the chrome button on a very specific spot. I may just remove the chrome button and use something like flat head screw.

Great video. My conclusion is it's time to replace my old NUC but with what?

A bit difficult for an amateur like me.. but I don't see there's other way to fix it. No one sells the parts either from what I searched.

hello @ecologicaltime. I have exactly the same problem with this power button. I tried to weld the plastic back to the place. It looked fine, however after few attempts to press on and back the plastic broke again. as seen on 4:56 on your video, you suggested to buy the whole plastic replacement. Any idea, where to buy this plastic replacement? Can you share any hints? any store you might recommend to find this plastic replacement? many thanks for your tips and have a good one!!

I have what looks like the same nuc. I also have a problem with the button, but for me it doesn't seem to make good contact and I have to press it really hard to turn on the nuc. Apparently the power of nucs is not in their buttons.

Why do I have to long press my mic to boot? I remember it wasn’t like that when I bought it, is there some setting? My button also broke but I have put a foam directly under the broken part of the button to level it and it is working fine, I just don’t understand why I have to long press to get orange light to blue, do you know what can be causing it?

ruclips.net/video/TC4uBrMcrvM/видео.html on the previous model (NUC5i3RYH), you can't just pry the top cover off like that as it's got those little molded pillars to attach it to the subframe. Going to try melting those in the morning with a soldering iron to get it off...
