Im sitting hear watching.....mumbling “so beautiful, so beautiful....”. Wife walks by hearing me say that.....sees what Im watching.....”yur so weird”.
One thing I did was have hydraulic hoses made for my air hoses. No leaks and not worried about blow outs. I’m doing the mechanical self leveling for the rear air bags also
Thanks. That’s an excellent idea! I’m going to be redoing the airlines at some point to be operated from the cab. When I tackle that project, I’ll be doing nice quality fittings and hoses throughout
Your video’s have been super helpfull! Bigup from the Netherlands! I was wondering where you were able to get those sandwichpanel corners. Both the long strips and corners. Cheers 🦦
So with the airbags front and rear your lift you initially installed is now gone. Do the airbags get you as high as the lift you had, and any issues with the tires clearing once the camper was on. Just starting to watch your videos, so the answer may come as I continue to watch the series.. Great job on the build... Robert
Thanks. I ordered the stock height Kelderman kit and then ordered 2” taller bags for the front separately. Stock height rear and +2” in the front keep it perfectly level. It took some trial and error
Was and still am hoping you lift the rear tire again and show how these springs are going to keep the sub-frame off the regular frame and somewhat level. Again, I just dont see it working the way you think. I know ppl say its been around but you have way more flex/torquing of that frame then the old stiff frames where these were first used. Cool project though.
Getting price quotes on a 5500 now. How much was the kit to put the camper together? All I see on their website is prebuilt truck campers that are 18 grand. I'm hoping to find a 10ft floor plan and make a travel nurse deluxe and throw a drz400 on it to get to/from work
amazing build series so far. do you have a cost break down? was wondering what the cost of the Total composite kit was worth, and what all was included? thanks so much
Looks Great Man ! Coming together really nice , good panel Choice . How will you Run your AC unit ? curious cause I made the same choice. ( 850 W solar on roof , 2000 W inverter , 400 Amp hr agm Batteries )
andrew buchanan thanks man. that’ll be covered in an upcoming episode. I have 750 watt on the roof and a 3000 watt inverter (Victron Multiplus). Hint: my battery bank is gonna be silly 😜
@@RAM5500CAMPERTHING ok ! mine is 2000 watt victron inverter. I put a honda 2200i in an apron cabinet . it will be redundancy for other systems as well. ~peace~
Hey brother nice work man! I need to ask you what does your camper shell weigh before anything went inside of it? And what kind of ballpark figure did you pay for this awesome thing?
Thanks for the info. 2000 pounds is not bad at all. And yes I knew asking how much it cost might be taboo but I am looking at doing the same thing and I was just trying to get an idea what I would be spending. Have a great day!
it was the light hard to really answer that accurately. Could easily be done in less than a week. But between the crazy heat wave and the fires, we had a lot of delays. The box itself was easy but it’s all the little finishing stuff to get it drivable that’s kicking my butt. Waiting on a friend to finish some corner pieces for the roof and then it’s good to go! Woot
Do you by chance know the insulation value of the floor and roof? It looks like it should retain energy very well. Awesome job I can't wait to see it finished. I live watching your progress. This could make it in the Alabama hills 😆 Lonepine bound! Just messing I know you crack jokes about overlanders in the Alabama hills on IG a lot.
Donking Donkey axle needs to be moved forward an inch to clear the fenders. The fenders still require trimming, but without moving the axle, the amount of cutting would be pretty substantial and into the back of the firewall
Finally...man that thing looks awesome!!! I wish I had the skills & money to do what you've done. Can't wait for the next one...keep them coming.
Great video, by far the best materials for building an overlander I’ve seen on RUclips. 👍
thank you sir

Thanks for sharing your build experience.
I've being counting month and wait for this to come out. Lol
Mark Wang Ontario hahahaha, thanks
Same here!!
Thank you for doing these videos! Inspirational for sure. I hope to follow a very similar path in a couple years.
K F my pleasure

AWESOME, I have been waiting..........thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Land Barron thank you sir
I’ve about doing an LMTV build but maybe I just do this?

ah. Total Composites. wondered if you would buy a truck camper or use Total Composites

Atube Viewer it’s obviously going to be tested snd adjusted if needed. It hasn’t left my buddies house in almost 2 months while i build the box
Perfil corner is aluminum ir plastic? Tanks
3/4 ton and heavier Rams don't require an alignment shop. You can do it by feel and a tape measure (to set toe if you messed with the tie rods).
Ryan Z correct...

The camper, the door, and all the taxes, freight, duty fees were almost exactly $20k. That does NOT include the windows and such.
Do you mind sharing the cost of the kit? I looked and did not see it readily available. Badass build man!
John Martin as mentioned right in the description, that will all he covered later. Thanks
This is awesome! Does anyone make front and rear lockers for the 5500?
KMT15 thanks. Unfortunately, no.. but I don’t see myself needing them anyway
Was there any reason not to choose a 'torsion-free subframe'?

They have pricing on their website
Looking good dude

@@RAM5500CAMPERTHING Gotchya ! very cool ...
Niiiiccceee!!! Whatchu think this body kit weigh?
I weighed it after assembly. 2150lbs
What company did you get the panels from
Total Composites
Hey brother nice work man! I need to ask you what does your camper shell weigh before anything went inside of it? And what kind of ballpark figure did you pay for this awesome thing?
Thanks man. Bare shell camper without the goodies Inside was almost exactly 2000lbs. Asking about money is taboo man

I hear it's about $17k for the box kit from Total Composites, not including the door.
@@innomind 17K isn’t that bad considering buying one built already which this type of truck is over $150K.
@@RAM5500CAMPERTHING Is that including the subframe under it or just the composite panel structure?

Why is the kelderman not fitting right?
Donking Donkey I literally explained it in the video 😂
RAM 5500 CAMPER THING I guess I didn’t understand why or how you moved the axle up
Donking Donkey axle needs to be moved forward an inch to clear the fenders. The fenders still require trimming, but without moving the axle, the amount of cutting would be pretty substantial and into the back of the firewall
What kind of axles does the 550 comes with?
