It was put to a vote in 2016 and the voters voted to keep the death penalty. A vote is a vote. That should be the law. Our votes must count regardless of whether it went your way or not. What goes comes around.

This is why we have representative democracy. If voters really want the death penalty they should be voting for texas style republican politicians. They shouldn't be surprised when they vote for left liberals who wont lift a finger to carry out the death penalty. California shouldn't put every little thing to voters, they aren't qualified to make decisions on most legislation.

I can't wait until he is gone, honestly. That move by him was in the realm of abuse of power on our democracy. We vote for a reason. You give him an inch they want to take a mile. He can't use his feelings in this..if we are being real, some people are not going to ever change. It aligns with Christians' continuous efforts to allow violence among innocent people. He should have honored the voters, the victims and etc. This is why I want him gone. He can't run for president because I believe he will abuse his power and not do what the voters told him by voting.
Voters have to take time off work, stand in long lines, enduring weather, traffic, etc, etc, just to voice what best benefits our communities. He obviously is a criminal coddler, and he needs to go.

I think so too. He rigged the election also. We have sufficient evidence for recall. We just need someone to submit the notice of intent to recall and start the long process to recall gavin newsom. I know the Californians like myself see all the lies and scandals he is responsible for. Recall Newsom now

    • @sistacoin

Exactly! This is an abuse of power on so many levels. Even if you don't agree with the death penalty, this action still is an abuse because he or someone like him will continue to do it. Then what does your vote really mean? You have people who don't even think their votes matter. I hope he is gone soon

I get the insight on a single murder and mistaken verdicts overturned but killing once with the intent to keep doing it until caught -- that is a perfect example of an ECT candidate. You cannot put them in a prison cell. They are sick. An eye for an eye means harm done done back so you learn. Do you think 10 20 30 years behind bars will bring about clarity and put it back into God's hands? Think about Charles Manson. He killed multiple people in one incident. See. The rule is life first but who is footing that bill? The loved ones?
