About the album:
Joe Satriani’s 16th studio album is What Happens Next, a high-energy album that takes the legendary guitarist’s skills to exciting new heights.
The new instrumental album features a power trio of Satriani on guitar along with two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees: Deep Purple/Black Country Communion bassist Glenn Hughes and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, the latter reuniting with Satriani for the first time since their work in the supergroup Chickenfoot with former Van Halen vocalist and bassist Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony. This unparalleled rock rhythm section gives What Happens Next a depth of groove that sets it apart from Satriani’s other work.
Satriani once again teams up with producer/engineer/mixer Mike Fraser on What Happens Next. Fraser has recorded and mixed every AC/DC album since 1990’s The Razors Edge and has been a frequent collaborator with Satriani since the release of Crystal Planet in 1998, producing, engineering or mixing Satriani’s solo albums as well as both studio projects by Chickenfoot.
This 12-track album showcases Satriani’s gift for constant evolution and reinvention as a bandleader and composer of intricate guitar-driven rock. What Happens Next finds Satriani discovering sounds and textures never before heard from an instrument he has unquestionably mastered over his three-decade solo career.

WTF....!!! Joe Satriani+Glenn Hughes+Chad Smith !!!!💥💥💥
Joe is so amazing that after listening to his music he always inspires me to pick up my guitar, and then I realize that I don't even have a guitar and that I'm actually a drummer. That's how good Satch is.
Hahaha! That's funny. I have the same experience. I play a little bit guitar because Joe made me forget that I am a drummer, too!
Back to "Flying in a Blue Dream" and "The Extremist" like stye!
Jim Dunmire was thinking back to shalla bal !!
Old Joe
If only he’d let the drummer shine it’d be awesome. And I play guitar. His drummer always sounds like a programmed drum machine to me. I’d like to see him record with the drummer from Spin Doctors.
Dine Guitarist spot on....
Hell yeah . Professor is back to the basics :)
Smith is great on the drums!!
Joe is great, and a classy guy....listening to him always inspires me to pick up my guitar
Or drop it off :D
has technic and musicality :3
I like how different every album feels, deep cuts, hidden jems etc.
time to wake up all neighbors

MY COVER OF THIS NEW AND AWESOME SONG!!!
Love you Joe so much!! S2
I had a dream last night and saw that Sir Joe Satriani came to Bangladesh to give guitarist award and I won the best guitarist prize and also took part in a jam with the master. And lastly took autograph in all my Satch CDs. And when I woke up this morning and saw the announcement video by the master. I was totally surprised to get the notification cause it was a massive co incident. Long live master Satch. You are the best and always will be the best. Cheers
Nice :)
👍
And when that bass kicks in at 0:34, 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah ! Good work Joe !!
Glenn Hughes rumbling away in the mix good move Joe. Can't wait.
Rock isn't dead. They're still made by honest human musicians. They'll never die.
Lot of negative flak over some of Satch's newer stuff. Jesus, go back and listen to his older stuff, huge catalog, as you know. Been a huge fan of his for decades, but I'm really digging his newer stuff as well as his early work. I particularly like how just stripped down, raw and aggressive a lot of it is. What the hell, is he supposed to stay the same his entire career? The title of this song couldn't be more perfect.
Amen! His body of work is so diverse and imaginative! I love it all! Really loved getting to see this years G3, Joe touring in support of this album, and Surfer to Shockwave last year both with my 14 year old son.
I'm curious to know what "newer" means, because he's sounded like this since 2006 lol
His new stuff is cheesy and lacks harmony and tune super colossal terrible with exception of 4 tunes satcha funkilass ?? Cheesy this lacks tune he hangs ran out of ideas bring back tunes like the forgotten pt2 echo surfer back to shalla ball until we say good bye better than always with u... ceremony more specific engine of creation album devils slide Borg sex we say good bye attack em..its ok champagne yeah surpose the rest nah oh clouds race across the sky is good I think but not listened to it 4 a 100yrs.
@@andrewboff5682 Check out Goodbye Supernova for that laid-back flavor you like. Actually that whole album has a lot of that vibe.
@@suprchickn7745 Yes! This particular song you've just mentioned have become to me his best one since a long time! Man, I just love Satch's work!
I just know I'm going to end up getting a speeding ticket thanks to this song...
lol
ME TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAAATHAAAFFAAACKK!!!! I'M STILL NOT EVEN OVER SHOCKWAVE SUPERNOVA YET AND THIS HAPPENS...HELL YES!!!!
AMAZING SONG!!!!!! Satriani is so underrated
Pre-ordered the album and going to see the G3 tour!
Jedi Joe returns. This is groove you can sink your light saber into.
Joe's back!!! Oh yeaaaaaah!!
Joe will never grow old...I believe he is the supplier of energy.....
Nice Tune! And Chad Smith and Glenn Hughes are making the job behind...Impressive!
zztrevorl that’s Chad Smith for sure?
Satch's music always takes these left turns I never expect but they always work.
Finally some fast bass drum!!! I've always thought that Satriani needs a drummer who wouldn't mind to add some metal rhythm (double bass playing) to his music!
MikeVonDoom and Chad is not really a double bass guy. He had Bissonette and Minnemann which would have been good for it. Gregg played a little on an ending I believe and maybe one other thing. But it's Joes call and I guess its not his thing.
Did you not listen to the Shockwave Supernova album?
Man, you said something I've believed for as long as I've been listening to JSat. He has always seemed to have lacked really good drummers. I mean, he deserves somebody like Peart or Carey. This is just the opinion of one old drummer, tho.
I fully agree!
What about Colaiuta?
I feel like this song should play during the last day of junior high in 1989 right when the bell rings
*AWWWWWWW YEAAAAAAHHHH!!!* SATCH IS BACK!
Watch out Joe's at it again !
This brings back memories...of yesterday when i listened to this.
Monster energy embodied in guitar forms
It is IMPOSSIBLE for Satch to EVER disappoint!!! 🤘🤘🎵🎸😎

This is going to be great live.. I've been waiting for Joe to get back to this
I was at the G3 project gig last month and Joe was the only of the three guys to perform the songs smoothly with no moment where i would think-god damn this aint right. It was great yet suprisingly awesome ROCK show... not technical showcase like i had maybe a little expected :)
long live joe

Yes
I was wondering, "What happens next"? Now I know.
Should have been a Chickenfoot tune. I can hear Sammy singing on this for sure.

Great track, Joe! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!
I just heard this for the first time on someone’s G3 2018 video and I’m really digging it. Haven’t heard much of anything past Time Machine.
This sounds amazing, Joe! I was thrilled to read that you were working with the great Glenn Hughes and again with Chad Smith. The concept of the 3 piece band that plays off of each other, has plenty of space in the music for spontaneity and the ability to be light on it's feet has always been a favorite of mine as a drummer and as a fan of the guitar.Been a GH fan since the late 90's and am excited to be able to focus on his bass prowess on this instrumental release.Keep rocking us!!!!!!!!!
Turkey will always love you Joe!
buckle up baby!!
Fire!
Really like this song. That riff is a killer!
No words
I love Joe
