Fantastic to see you out and about again. Glad to hear that you're listening to your body and going at the pace your back allows. I was quite emotional for you (in a positive way) and shed some tears, here and there, whilst watching your video. Thank you for sharing. Lovely shots throughout.
Nigel, I know we have never met as I live across the "pond" and am just a follower on your RUclips channel and am one of your online Masterclass students. Like so many, I am glad to see you back and that you are trying to gradually ease back (no pun intended) into your photography even though I can imagine it may feel frustrating and perhaps discouraging at times not yet being back at the level you were prior to your surgery. You are an inspiration to all of us who follow you and who have been one of your Masterclass students. You are, in my opinion, one of the best landscape photographers out there and I can say my landscape photography has improved amd continue to improves by learning from you. Even if you find that you end up shifting to another style of photography like macro like you demonstrated recently from your camper van and back yard, I should think I would very much look forward to adding a potential Nigel Danson "Macros" book to my Vistas, Woodlands, and Seascapes collection. Keep taking it easy and I am grateful you have also allowed us to be a part of your recovery journey. Thank you.
Thanks so much. Really appreciate the kind words. I have a few ideas for my next book but still at the photography stage with them all so maybe a gap next year.
Great to see you back in the field. “Recovery is full of ups and downs. There is no such thing as a linear life. But you can always turn your setbacks into setups to come back stronger.”
Sorry to hear you've been feeling under the weather Nigel. Glad to see you back on your feet and in the field capturing images. Good reminder to all of us to be thankful for every moment we get out in the landscape. Take it slow and steady and continue to get well!
Wonderful to see you back doing what you love to do Nigel, another great video with excellent images and explanations for all of us envious amateurs !! Excellent as always but take it easy and enjoy.
Its great to have you back Nigel, when you have time, I would love you to do a series on signing a print , certificate of authenticity, borders for fine art prints and spraying and protecting prints. Cheers Reg
Welcome back Nigel! I did not find the images up to your usual but this is good. It reminds us that you too are human and that little can be done against certain adversities. The importance and the beauty of this video is having seen you again walking in your woods with all the passion and enthusiasm for your work!
Easy to feel your joy at being back out, it was palpable. Heather was on my list of Must Sees but Covid decided that was not to be and I've had to give up plans for a UK trip. SO ENJOY your vlogs, but take it easy please.
Like everyone else in these comments, I didn't know I could feel so happy to see someone, I've never really met, from across the pond, back out doing what he loves, what I love. God Bless Nigel and congrats! Still be careful friend. Cheers from Texas.
Dear Nigel! I can’t help but like you and wish you all the best. Thank you so much for sharing your thought process on photography and composition. I wish you a speedy recovery. Best wishes.
Great to see you back! For blue sky shots, what I like to do is apply a gradient to the sky to darken the top part of the sky (and typically reduce the temperature a bit so that the darkened part is a bit blue rather than just gray). I find that it both makes the sky more interesting, and the darker sky at the very top acts to frame the top of the composition and hold the viewer's eye in.
At times I could predict the composition before you explained it, that shows how much I’ve learned from you and how good of a teacher you are, thank you
I like this format of you talking about how you're going to take the photo, then right away talking about what (didn't) work. Seeing them all at the end in Lightroom or as prints is cool too, so I'm not sure which way I like better. I guess whichever you feel works best for each video.
Hi, Nigel. It’s fantastic to see you out and about again. Thanks for this video with your tips for shooting with too clear of a sky. Don’t push too hard. We don’t want you to hurt your back again.
Well done Nigel. I had spinal operation 17 years ago, listened to the doctors and my body and now live a full life. Am sure you will get there but don’t push it. Really good video as ever. Thanks
Glad to see you back in your natural 'habitat' Nigel. Take it steady as I this is a case where it is better to be the tortoise than hare. There is next year to do the epic stuff!
Good gosh Nigel it's so.good to see you out and about. I know it's been tough but your health is the most important thing. If I can give any advice about recovery after a big surgery. It's LISTEN TO YOUR WIFE! Be safe!
Great to have you back. Slowly, Slowly. Your photos make the landscape look better than what you see when you are there whereas for most of us it is the other way round. Thanks Nigel.
Dear Nigel, we are grateful that you are back in the field. Welcome back to you! Thank you for always making the videos very informative and interesting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fantastic to see you again!
Welcome back it is good to see you up and about again making your interesting videos. My Sunday mornings feel a bit more normal now. I do hope your Sherpa and driver was adequately rewarded.
Hi Nigel, it is so good to see you out and about again with your camera. Take it easy and don't be too hard on yourself. Patience is a wonderful thing!
So glad to see you back out, Nigel…. Can’t help but hear in your voice the message to NOT take your health and being out and enjoying nature and the beauty of landscape photography for granted…. Great message…
Good to see you back again. I just want say please don't rush getting back to normal. Many year's ago I injured my back and cut corners in my rehabilitation, The last 30yrs I have spent using crutches, taking pain killers, using a tens machine to control the pain and now I am having trouble with my neck. So please take care I only go out occasionally taking photos now.
I love how you celebrate peoples enjoyment of the location you’re shooting in when all to often some photography curse people enjoying the land because their shot is spoiled. Just goes to show how important patience and tolerance amongst other qualities are i. landscape photography. Welcome back Nigel, steady as she goes. 👏
Great video Nigel. Like everyone else has said in the comments, its good to see you back out doing what you love to do. I am slowly learning from your Masterclass I and look forward to my growth in landscape knowledge with your good guidance.
Such a pleasure to see you back again and still so passionate. You and your videos are an inspiration! I look forward to more videos as you continue to heal and grow strong.
Nigel, great to see you back in the landscape! An excellent video. I really like how you walked us through your composition process, describing what, and why, to leave in and what to leave out. I'm looking forward to more of your great videos. Thanks!
Nigel so glad you're back, hope you feeling better. I'm new at photography and you have given me so much joy and insight into the craft. I love your work thank you and take care.
So good to see you out in nature again. I know exactly how hou felt being out. A few years ago I severely broke my ankle and couldn't walk for a year. It was an amazing feeling when I could go back out and do my photography. Here's hoping you have a fast recovery and lots of fun getting outdoors.
Welcome "back", Nigel. So glad to know that you are getting better daily and that you can now get back into the field. We love you videos, but more so we want you to get well and not rush. Thank you for all you do for your subscribers!
What you have been through Nigel must have been very challenging in so many ways. I won't list them all here because you know what you went through and most of your followers have enough compassion and intelligence to have some idea of the difficulties you must have traversed. You are re-emerging out of the end of a long tunnel, and probably a different person for it. All of this makes you more qualified to talk about reality of photography, with all the positives and all the challenges from a real world perspective, more so than many of your contemporaries. All your videos are of a high quality and your ability to explain photography is, in my opinion, unsurpassed. Beyond that, you have a story to tell that will help others, and I hope that you will use this next phase of your life (as you get back to fitness and strength) to share that side of things and by doing so, inspire us. The production team should always get a shout out. So thank Mrs Danson for her support, on behalf of your viewers! 🙏
Great to see you back out where you belong, and admire that you dared sleep in the camper van. My back is not great but nothing like what you went through, and i wouldn't go near a camper van these days. Hope the road to recovery continues and looking forward to many new videos ahead.
Great to see you back in out taking photos again Nigel. And a big thank you to your wife, without her this vlog may not have been possible. Stay safe 🇦🇺
So good to see you back out and mobile! I can only imagine how frustrating the last several months have been. Sending positive vibes for continued healing.
Great too see you are out there and thanks to the misses Danson…I happily volunteered carrying your bag. Besides that I love the heather and so nice seeing these areas in the UK….thanks for this vlog.
Good to see you doing what you love! Hope you are feeling better. I appreciate you taking us through your process of finding compositions, even in a boring blue sky. Cheers.
Nigel it was great to see you back out in the field again. How often we take for granted things that we do until we can’t do them. I am sure you were thrilled to get back out in nature again. The images probably didn’t mean as much as just being able to get back and do something you love. Best wishes on continued improvement in your back. I look forward to your upcoming vlogs. Take care of yourself.
Some beautiful scenes. Hearing you talk about why you like a scene, and why you were disappointed with a composition is totally relatable, it confirms to me that I'm on the right track, with the way i sometimes view a composition. The beauty of it is, nowadays we have an embarrassment of riches. Nature is still doing its thing as is human nature, but now photography is instant and totally free. If you take some pictures and they are a bit shit, it hasn't cost you anything (much), all the gear is paid for and you don't have to worry about wasting film, plus you can analyse your exif data and study where you went wrong and learn, I'm loving it.
I had an L4/L5 decompression of my spine in March 2020. I feel your current pain, but the surgery, if like mine, will be life changing for the best! It’s totally worth it! Wishing you the very best of luck! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I thank God for your successful surgery and pray you continue to heal and get stronger! If you or you and your wife are ever in Western Montana, we have an extra bedroom!
Happy for you Nigel. The awesome feeling you get when you finally get to do something you love after a long hiatus is the best feeling. Glad to have you back at it.
Glad to see you getting better. Of course it will be slowly and bit by bit. My thoughts are with you. This was both enchanting and inspirational. So much enjoyed seeing and hearing the true environment, so thank you for that and your captions. A big thanks to Mrs D to make this possible for us all.
Hi Nigel, I had back surgery long time ago, A disc removal. My neurosurgeon told me do nothing for six months. I did and felt great, did things I couldn't do before. I strongly suggest 6 months before carrying anything on your back.
So good to see you out pursuing your passion. Fantastic that your wife was willing to help you out! I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you!!!
Nigel, I’m watching this video laying on the couch recovering from a recent surgery with keener interest and sympathy than I might have otherwise. Recovery won’t be as long and arduous as you have endured but the transition back to doing photography in the field will require similar caution and strategies you demonstrate. I could see this as a topic for a video tutorial, coping strategies for disabilities, whether temporary or permanent.
That is a good tutorial idea, could even be a mini series! I bet Bob and Brad (the two most famous physiotherapists on the internet, in their own opinions of course) would collaborate on a video like that... Actually I bet these folks would have some very cool ideas too ruclips.net/user/JerryRigEverything
Glad to see you back in your element with a camera in hand! One piece of advice I leaned the hard way after my surgery and long recovery was to listen to my wife more :)
Wonderful seeing you out in the field again, but also taking care of yourself first. Enjoyed the format of this presentation. Many thanks to your supportive spouse!
Great to see you back Nigel, hope your recovery keeps progressing well and I can look forward to seeing your fantastic videos again, especially as we enter into autumn and winter. Bet the local fruit n veg shop glad to see you back in buying apples again too!!!
Fantastic to see you out and about again. Glad to hear that you're listening to your body and going at the pace your back allows.
I was quite emotional for you (in a positive way) and shed some tears, here and there, whilst watching your video. Thank you for sharing. Lovely shots throughout.
Great that you are recovering well and have been out there. And a massive thank you to Ann for helping you deliver this video - you have been missed.
Thanks Geoff

Mr Dansen back in the wild, the world is healing. So glad to see you back on the move.

Still praying for total healing for you!!
Super happy to see you out and about doing what you do best Nigel.
Glad you are back and healing up nicely… and being out in nature again, blue skies or not, doesn’t get better then that. Cheers Nigel.
I’m so glad you are well and back out with Pebbles doing photography!

You're back! Fantastic to see you again. It just doesn't get any better than this.
Glad to see you're recovering! Had to leave a comment to let you know that SOMEONE noticed the effort you put into the Edgar Wright - ish intro 😉
I had an L4/L5 decompression of my spine in March 2020. I feel your current pain, but the surgery, if like mine, will be life changing for the best! It’s totally worth it! Wishing you the very best of luck! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks. Mine was nerve surgery and I is unlikely to fix the problem but wanted to try it.
What a great start in the day seeing you outdoor and juggling your apple again!
Thanks!
Fantastic to see you out and about again enjoying your photography. Hope this road to recovery for your back keeps on the same path 😃.
Welcome back. Some lovely photos. A great start to Sunday. Take care.
So glad to see you out again. I love the photos. Great to see your wife even though we only see her back. Just don't push to hard.
Great to see you back out n doing videos for us. The heather is looking great. Great shots.
Take care👍
Great to see you out and about again taking super photos - you haven't lost your touch! Best wishes.
Many thanks!
Glad to see you getting better. Of course it will be slowly and bit by bit. My thoughts are with you. This was both enchanting and inspirational. So much enjoyed seeing and hearing the true environment, so thank you for that and your captions. A big thanks to Mrs D to make this possible for us all.
It’s so good to see you back Nigel. Take it easy and don’t push it too much!
Hi Nigel, I had back surgery long time ago, A disc removal. My neurosurgeon told me do nothing for six months. I did and felt great, did things I couldn't do before. I strongly suggest 6 months before carrying anything on your back.
Yep... I can't put my socks on yet! Carrying will be a long long time away
Nigel, your joy of being outside was just so great. The shots were really nice, good for you
So good to see you out and about again Nigel. Hope your recovery continues to go well. What a beautiful location and wonderful images!
All the best! Thanks for the kind words
Welcome back Nigel, great to see you back on your feet. Take care.
Glad to see you back in your element with a camera in hand! One piece of advice I leaned the hard way after my surgery and long recovery was to listen to my wife more :)
Brilliant to see you out and about again. Do take it easy. Fantastic video as well.
Wonderful seeing you out in the field again, but also taking care of yourself first. Enjoyed the format of this presentation. Many thanks to your supportive spouse!
Welcome back Nigel! Always a pleasure to watch your videos. I hope you have a full and speedy recovery with your back.
Nice to see you back out in the field Nigel. It's been a long road for you. Loved the light on the heather at the end.
Great to see you back Nigel, hope your recovery keeps progressing well and I can look forward to seeing your fantastic videos again, especially as we enter into autumn and winter. Bet the local fruit n veg shop glad to see you back in buying apples again too!!!
