I’m not sure the right strategy for Chinese car makers to enter the western market is in the high end. They’re competing against the brand name and not just the product. Where they should focus their entry is in the sub 20k market which is unserved in Europe and America but there is high demand and they’re used to serving that market in China
That's what Japan did in the USA and it took decades for people to stop laughing at them. Hollywood even made a big budget movie laughing at them. Top spec oec is the way to go to dispel the "cheap chinese product" bias.
What are Voyah's plans for the US market? I'm a bit nervous that they, NIO, BYD, etc will all pounce the US at once and create a collapse of established brands.
That's the point of competition. It will force established brand to actually innovate in the EV space. However it's not like the US market is huge on EV's enough to collapse our established brands.
Voyah isn't doing too well in China. The Free is often derided for being a bit "generic" (let that sink in a bit) among the fierce competition. Dengfeng, owner of the Voyah marque, seems to be having a bit struggle with NEV cars. Being a large SoE however means they won't be going anywhere soon. Voyah's second model, the Dreamer minivan, is faring a tad better, and they'll soon release a sedan. Anyway. Your worry is warranted. There is a plethora of Chinese NEV makers - BYD, Changan, Geely, SAIC, GWM, GAC, Nio, Xpeng, Li Auto, Neta, Leapmotor... all more competitive (sales wise at least) than Dongfeng, that are eager to expand overseas. Geopolitical issues means the US will probably be among the last market they land, but when they do, it'll be the fittest among the survivors, having not just taken roots in China, but also Europe, Japan, SEA, the Oceania...
Nah, all Chinese cars will eventually be barred from the US just as they have barred cell phones and computers . The us has many ways to put soft bans on products or companies.
The bad news for this brand and others trying to succeed in Norway with big EVs is that from 2023 a new tax policy will be in place, with an additional NOK 12.5 per each kilogram above the 500 kg limit, plus cars with a base price above NOK 500,000 will have an additional tax of 25%. So basically similar rules here to ICE vehicles. In the case of this car it will be approximately another 200K NOK plus.

Price don't determined by manufacture cost, but market. And what makes you think wages are low? I make about 50,000 usd net income annually with 5 years expierences. I think the wages for workers are close to 12000 usd annually. With cheap meal and health care expenses, mostly free education, that money is good enough. It's not the labor cost makes China the place to make everything since long ago.
Looks like Chinese car makers are starting to make pretty good cars for export. I’m also thinking of NIO here. But why would Americans want to buy these cars? Why would Americans want to support a geopolitical and geoeconomic antagonist? (Please keep in mind that all Chinese companies are appendages of the Chinese central government and the Chinese communist party.) Good review, as always, Kyle.
I would love a Chinese EV, especially a Nio or BYD. they check every box for me at my price point. a model 3/Y has inflated in price so much, ID4 sucks, bolt is good for the money but a bit down market, as is the leaf, not feeling the mach-E. there are so few options in the US in the $40-50k price range.
Anyone considering buying one of these cars should first consider China's atrocious human rights record. It's a shame this channel thinks it morally appropriate to review them.
Not sure if these cars will continue to be allowed to be sold in the West. With a chip ban expanding to mid range chips, Chinese manufacturing is falling off the cliff.

Politically. They won't be allowed into the market. Too much of a security problem.
@7:07 Bland looking! Totally Bland looking Car! imho
They over-engineered the hell out of that infotainment system, but not in a good way. There is just way too much going on.
Why is the hood stupidly long?
"Corning" glass maybe.
Success.
Audi is not the big player in Europa..
No chinese EV for me.
Nice car. But please use a mic… for headphone users it’s like you’re walking closely behind me and constantly switching between whispering into my left and right ear… unbearable…
Just switch to mono if you can.
You should be worrie about a dinosaur 🦖 like Audi is going to be around by 2030 no this Chinese company.by the way can you tell me where is the location of audio electric giga factory located .o they make electric car on ice factory.
is it Chinese product ?
German cars are highly developed, expensive and but not reliably anymore. They are not worth there money.
the encumbents need to watch out. chinese automakers are going to do to EVs what japanese and koreans did in 80s to today.
Other than the questions of it being reliable and needing to have a good dealer network... I would want to know that my 70K isnt funding the PLA in anyway or subjugating Uyghur Muslims or Tibetans and possibly invading a democratic country like Taiwan. But that's just me. I'm silly like that.
Seriously? You're a guy whose country just spent 20 years committing war crimes in the middle east and you're worried about a country that has not invaded anywhere this century. What's the rationale? Good for me not for thee? What major wars since ww2 weren't started or entirely escalated by western democracies? That's a mighty big glass house you're chucking rocks from.
@@onetwothreefour-s1n You mean a country that tried to bring justice and democracy to a country that really didn't want it and would never fight for it because they are too corrupt? Yep.... As for war crimes....That's a lot different than what China is doing to it's own people now isnt it Mr. High and Mighty? Since you are obviously a PLA/China apologist. Please let us all know what country that you hail from?
@@robgrt I'm glad committing war crimes is fine. Thanks for the first world view. Pretty cozy up there......the usa has 18 years of peace in its history....800 military bases outside the mainland... and the uyghurs you are so concerned about are on the usa terrorist list as well. ...Hong Kong I would agree with and there's no reason to invade taiwan after all these years. But to sit there and be smug enough to pass judgment on any other country when you are an American is priceless.
Oh look, another NSA virtue-signaling bot. The AI behind them is getting frighteningly good. Sorry to break it to you, but your average American will sell his or her mother just to get a discount.

I‘m here for the content and the amazing presentation, not the clothes
If you are not satisfied, try some fashion creators ;)
11:34 Look plush but is in fact dangerous. I would rather stay away from a car whose driver has to lean over to push those touch screens on the right.
Ya! More over priced vehicles.
Kyle, please put hybrid in title so pure EV buyers don’t waste time. Hybrids are obsolete in USA. I want a 30-40% duty on all Chinese EV imports to USA. I would never buy a Chinese EV, battery, or motor which helps CCP government.
It's not a hybrid. It's pure ev from the ground up. They have an extended range ev but not in europe. Did you watch the video or just complain because it is chinese?
@@onetwothreefour-s1n My mistake and thought I heard Kyle mention hybrid. Yes, video of vehicle was pretty good except for charging power. Sorry, I don't buy high-ticket items from China and advise family, friends, and acquaintances to do same.
@@johnpoldo8817 why?
@@onetwothreefour-s1n I never buy high ticket items from china because it helps Chinese government.
People how can afford an iX or etron dont buy that Kind of shit instead.
"hope Chinese badges go away"? Are you serious? Chinese badges go away on Chinese car? Do you even understand that in 2 seconds you turned into ... well it probably should be mentioned in polite society. Well, sketchy...
he meant they should have Voyah instead of 嵐图 at the back so ppl understand what car it is... the metal badge at the trunk door... chill man 😅

My guess is that it's based on "voyage" (a long journey involving travel). Pronounced a little like 'voyage' in French, but only partially. The owner, Dongfeng, works with French car manufacturers (Peugeot Citroën, Renault).
i hate when chinese cars think they can charge the same prices as german and japanese cars when they don't pay the same wages for production
And yet the iPhone is manufactured in China. Price != production cost. I’d rather have these made in Canada but I’m a realist.
@@smartelectriccar yes and but still good software and quality with Apple
They don't do that at home. But they have to in Europe, thanks to all the surcharges.
:) Chinese government don’t even notice what you said , the anti China propaganda works so well . Amazing
Rubbish Chi na damp car
Anyone considering buying one of these cars should first consider China's atrocious human rights record.
It's a shame this channel thinks it morally appropriate to review them.
What are you really saying?
Not sure if these cars will continue to be allowed to be sold in the West. With a chip ban expanding to mid range chips, Chinese manufacturing is falling off the cliff.
Nice Mercedes knock off steering wheel. Why would you call a car the free kinda dumb. Dash looks nice tho.
