I ended up on this video accidentally from the autoplay, I wasn't seeking out info on expanders but I watched the video anyway just cuz you're entertaining to watch! the banjo music gave me a chuckle too, love it
I used one like this that was a loaner from a store. Two tips from my experience, you definitely want to use a well mounted vice (or two) or something, standing on it probably won't do, lol. Also, set your workpiece in a warm place for a bit, before you start, if it's cold. Good luck out there!
It did the job ok , i wonder if there is a better way , i`m thinking like some sort of expander fitting to work with a porta power for home use ??? i have seen the fancy hydraulic ones in exhaust shops that work in seconds with zero effort , very nice , but probably out of reach for most of us average joes .
I bought one of those years ago from Harbor Freight and it was a disaster. The threads stripped out before it even expanded the pipe. I even lubed the threads with Moly grease. Good to see the Sears model worked good.
I gotta raptor 660 and I’m trying to make a fz09 yoshimura exhaust fit on it u think I could do this and it would work well and not fall of while riding? Or do u suggestion to cut the exhaust and tig weld it back?

Glad you enjoyed it! and nice to have you back Tyler. I believe you've been by here before. If so or if not still happy to have you come by and visit.

Thank You.
You know it helps to oil the threads, the tapers and the inside of the pipe. Oil just makes the whole operation work smoother.
Yea.
If you heat the end to be expanded with a torch, it will go easier for you..........
k
always grease the bolt threads with high pressure grease before using to save the threads.
Ah..... Yes, those wayward threads need to be saved. I usually tell them about Jesus while I'm putting the nuts on.
Is that pipe steel or aluminium? i guess thicker stainless steel might be out of its league, but i was wondering if it worked on 1.8mm steel.
It's steel. I suspect you're right. Stainless probably would be too much for it.

Yea, this is pretty good and affordable. I've used it more than once already and happy to have one.

There were two in the box. The small one broke first time I tried it. The big one worked. Not so happy that the small one is toast.
Lol. Just had the same thing happen with the harbor freight one. It's garbage.
Crap, I. About to go outside and use a harbor freight one. I guess I'll plan on using my backup plan.....when I think of one
... Do you think it would work with the likes of titanium tube, with a seam (not split it)?.
No idea
Replace o-rings with ' tie-wire ' or ' fencing -wire ' if using heat.
Good to know
Is it just me or did he do the wrong side. I thought he needed the flare to go over the red muffler he had?
Wouldn't surprise me a bit.
He sure did.....he over expanded it the first time...and confused himself...Bet he went back to the auto parts store....lol
@@bryanhenry8075 lol
@@bryanhenry8075 i bet we have all had to go back to parts store a second time.

Hard to say without seeing it. I think you'll have to decide for yourself on this one.
I didn't know there were any left but yesterday I saw a Sears hardware in a small town in Northwest Indiana.
Wow. I didn't know either.
Autozone and O'Reilly's (and probably other auto parts stores) will loan these tools out to you.
K. Good to know
On closer look....you are trying to expand the pipe to fit an expanded side of the other pipe....You went too far.
Dang I say.
That thang works well
It did.
Can you give the sales address
I got mine from Sears before they closed.
