So the s52 can only get the cf intake but not an airbox? Because it lacks the ITBs of an s54 or s50? If that's the case, I'll have to shop around for something like this.....
Yessir. The S52 just has a single throttle body before the manifold so this is the closest you can get to a CSL style airbox sound of an S54 on the S52.
Yes it does! More subtle during around town driving but around 5-6k rpm it screams at you in a glorious way. I got it from a website called autotalent. They're built to order in japan so took about 5 weeks to get to me but i think it was worth it. Only modification needed was a 3.5" - 3" silicone coupler reducer since it was designed for the 3.5" euro S50 intake/maf. Got a mishimoto one off amazon and that did the trick.
Thanks for the reply. I’ll reach out to them. Before I drop $ on that, do you have any other vids you can upload showing the induction noise in the cabin at low mid and high rpm?
Unfortunately I dont have any other videos ready. I have a bunch of footage from filming maybe I can throw something together and put it on the instagram page!
In my opinion it is, especially if you're sticking with a stock exhaust. You get the little intake whistle as you crack the throttle open around 1/4 of the way. Gives it a nice growl as you're rowing through the gears. And when you're revving it all the ways out it really sounds sweet in the upper range. But of course there are also cheaper alternatives. The cost of this one really comes from the hand laid carbon plenum. I do like that it doesn't route down into the bumper and instead uses the factory "fog light" bumper scoop that's shared with the brake cooling duct, so it won't get heat soaked in the summer.
It sounds like ITBs, but is it exaggerated due to mic placement (too close)? Or is that an accurate representation? I have a 97' E36 M3 and am looking at this intake, just want to be sure before I spend that amount of money. Cheers!!
The initial in car footage is raw cell phone, so that's accurate. It definitely shines above 5k rpms and overpowers the stock exhaust note with a really nice I6 ITB kind of growl. If you have a loud exhaust i dont think youd notice it as significantly, but it absolutely accents and adds to the total sound experience of the car (i now have eisenmann race mufflers, working on that sound video). Most of the hood and exterior camera footage was with a mic clipped on directly to the air box "funnel". That was just for some exaggerated fun engine bay sound.
Cheers! Appreciate the help. I did find out that the air filter is quite expensive (k&n but heavily marked up and only available through gruppe m). I also found a few pictures of the filter element disintegrating to the point where just the metal mesh remains. Something to keep an eye on! Sounds fantastic though, and thanks again for your help. Looking forward to hearing your new exhaust! Cheers 🍻
I purchased the intake through a website called Autotalent, took about 5 weeks as they're built to order. However i cant seem to find it there anymore, looks like they stopped selling them. Looks like you can buy it from Gruppe M direct actually on their website. If you want to message me im on instagram @Enginerded_

Awesome, I would appreciate that. Trying to decide whether this is worth all that $

does this work on the 2.3L
I don't think so. This is specific to the S50B32/30 and S52B32

Would you happened to want to sell that or help me also find one?
Also is there anyway I could contact you in private?
