It's about him reconciling his way of life with his upbringing. "That was always the plan, become a good Christian man." If he was raised as a Muslim or other, I find it hard to believe he would shy away from calling it that. So no, "Good Jewish Man" or "Good Muslim Man" wouldn't fit, because that's not what the song is about. You're not looking at the song from the POV of a songwriter, and are trying to make a point about social commentary in a place where it just doesn't fit, so yes, your comment is stupid and should be elsewhere.
