Seems to be a mash up of early Magazine, The Doors Celebration of the lizard, VU, You shot my lover Down and fuck knows. The band are so tight, the drummer is unbelievable and the guitarist a true pro. Thanks.
That is just **** ing brilliant!!!! Remember this concert being on TV, 86ish I think & I was just dumbstruck!! Don't think I've seen or heard this since so thanks!!
I'd love to see him live with a band supporting him, met him once at a book review in Manchester very entertaining and friendly. Tour with a band Julian you'd sell out every venue.
he's great with a band - especially when they tear into Hanging Out and Hung Up on the Line - the Cope is one of the great rock'n'roll frontmen in touch with his inner Iggy
My first ever proper gig was Julian Cope at the Liverpool Royal Court in 1983, an incredible experience. He was somewhat ‘adrift and disconnected’ - taunting the audience a bit, showing the scars on his stomach from the infamous self-harm gig a few weeks earlier and towards the end of the gig, attacking the hologram machine with his mic stand until sparks and smoke emerged and roadies leapt on to guide Julian towards a self place, if you know what I mean. You can imagine my disappointment at the next 20 gigs when the singers didn’t have a major meltdown, reaching into dark places an allowing themselves to be possessed that way.
his growling lyrical tone and performance artist charisma made cope a master of 80's folk punk this song sat at the heart of my 80's mix tape of bouncing fun along with gone daddy gone from the violent femmes and much more , a blast from the past that just helped educate my teenage offspring to put it on her mp3 if she really wants to remain muso cool
@ChemtrailsEire Thanks for the reply, sorry I snapped. Turns out I think I did find it through google. I thought it was related to the song though! Stupid me.
Weird I just read a book and the serial killers name was related to Reynard The Fox! Didn't he have some wacky but useful microphone stands over the years! :)
@ChemtrailsEire OK so I'll google "book serial killer related Reynard the Fox". Cause you can't just tell me, that's beyond the scope of your abilities. Fair enough.
"...AND HE SPILLED THE GUTS ALL OVER THE STAGE!!!"
Such a powerful song damn!
Great music to grow up 2 sigh ..those were the days
I had this gig on videottape and lent it to someone, who I then lost contact with, and never got the tape back, its so good to see it again.
OLd Saint Julian has been a hard shoulder for me to lean on for over half of my life. May the Shekinah be within and with him. YOU ROCK OLD DOG!!!
Favourite album for YEARS, Fried
...this song still gives me the shivers when I here it...
the opening photo of the blood drenched cope on stage was at the Hammersmith Palais. I was there that night, I reckon it was early 1984.
You mean from a superficial scratch?
He's had worse Coke nosebleeds.
@@Johnconno it was a long time ago but from my memory it was a considerable amount of blood. OK they were only scratches but they bled profusely

He did use to have a band. But they exploded. I cried. Real tears.
+Roshi Ferox the teardrop explodes :D
Well aware of the Teardrop Explodes great band.

superb!
Julian's best track, IMHO, and there's some stiff competition. Absolutely epic, a real work of art. Would love to witness it performed live.
Copeulation...brilliant!
I've got "Fried" and it's an undervalued LP....long live the Archidruide!!
Total genius
Juian at his best
I was there with the Mighty Lemon Drops
I love the tune.
Great! I want to see you in Italy, please come!

Shhh! it starts off rough! but then it goes into that Brittish Rock/Pop sound I like so much! Yeah! American music should be more like this!
