  • When growing shiitake or other mushrooms on logs, most beginners opt for the basic or low tech method of planting logs. This video demonstrates using sawdust spawn, our most economical type of spawn. Inoculation can be done alone or with multiple people. With one person drilling , two inoculating, and one waxing, about nine logs per man hour can be inoculated. The more experience the crew has the faster this process becomes.

We would suggest using fruiting blankets to cover your logs. That will keep off most of the pests!

How tall, wide and long is the table? Where do you find wheels and axle assembly like that?

Hi Rick, I may have spoke with you on the phone and gave you information on a different style bench not knowing you were talking about this one. Anyway the dimensions on this bench are; 3 feet tall, 14 feet long, and 3 feet wide. The wheels are old lawn mower wheels. For the axle assembly you will need half inch rod and pillow blocks on each end for the rods to run through.
