So happy to get this to you a little earlier tonight. We made it to Texas, and I have a new plan to get words during this chaotic time. How are you doing? Just also sending an extra message of love to you all. Thank you for all the supportive emails over the past week. It means so much!
So glad you made it safely. I hope your son feels much better soon. I've had ear infections and they are the worst. Send him my sympathy!! Your new place looks gorgeous. I'm very envious of that rooftop terrace. It looks like it was just made to curl up at night and write! Got a little over 1000 words in today finally. Very happy about that. :) Hope your reset day today was a good one! :)
Welcome to TX! You’ll love the state and I am so glad y’all made it safe. You did really good these past weeks Sara! You’re an amazing mom and a writer ❤️
Sarra, you have accomplished so much this month! You have been wandering the country, with your family which is a job in itself. You have been inspiring so many others with your journey. Take care of you.
50/50 hydrogen peroxide/water mix poured into the ear for a minute or two before dumped out helps with ear aches and infections. That's what we've always used and it helps a ton. Draws the infection out and kills bacteria. Saved us many trips to the docs because my husband is prone to ear infections since getting swimmer's ear as a kid. I'm glad you made it to Texas without many issues. I giggled when I saw the duct-taped mirror. Only because I've had to do the same in the past. Duct tape can be a life saver. Hoping you'll be able to get that fixed. It sucks that your new vehicle already has damage done to it. I'm glad you're not stressing about NaNo and finding something else to work on for the rest of the month. 💙 I know that must have been stressing you out, even though you were trying not to let it. Good luck on your new projects. The anthologies sound awesome. I'm going to have to check them out.
Sarra, I'm still in awe how you even manage to write at all while moving so often and having a family! You are doing amazing! Switching projects was a good idea and in the end you started Book 12 and that alone is a win :D Sending you strength and love and hope Andrew is getting well soon! Cheering you on!
Not sure if you know this trick for getting water out of the ear: put a little cap full of rubbing alcohol in for 3 seconds or so and then dump it out. Works every time!
Sarra, I love your videos and greatly appreciate the peek into your processes around writing and life! That said, girlfriend, you are taking on *so* much. Nano alone is an enormous undertaking. Plus vlogging it. Kids are another full-time job. I get that George is there (yay!), but still. And then with moving house multiple times...! Your comments about how time is flying by (at this time of year, it always does for me, too) make me wonder whether that's your system waving some flags to let you know it's feeling overloaded. You sound so much like you want some peace and rest so that you can rebuild your energy and do what you want to do. It's so common to push ourselves right up to the boundaries of what we can "take," when setting the boundaries waaay before that is often what's helpful. That way we've got some space to push through emergencies without heading for a meltdown. Living on the edge of our limits isn't sustainable. (Ask me how I know! LOL) Wishing you a wonderful time in Texas!
Yes you are so right about that! I feel like I've let so many people down this year with late releases and things like that, so it's hard to let go of anything. I'm trying to give myself some down time and Grace! Thank you for caring about me and taking the time to comment.
I hope Andrew is feeling better very soon! ❤️ I love hearing you talk about your growth. It’s so authentic and inspiring. You have had so much going on and I like that you have been giving yourself so much grace and days to have fun and reset. You’re absolutely right, it’s about centering yourself and not hustle, hustle, hustle. Cheers
I'm so excited that you have moved to my wonderful home city of Houston! Sidenote, I saw a comment saying not to go anywhere alone, and while this is sound advice anywhere you go, as a Houstonian of almost 38 years, I can tell you, I have never felt unsafe here. Houston is an amazing city with wonderful food, and places to visit, and it's BIG and spread out, which may take some getting used to, but allows for so many hidden gems all over the city and it's suburbs! I hope you love your stay here, and I'm thrilled to know we live in the same city!!! Much love and luck from Deer Park!
Welcome to TX! I’m halfway between Houston & San Antonio, but I’m moving in Jan. I don’t blame you for your change in writing plans. You have so much going on. It makes sense to go with the other story which also sounds awesome! I like the H&G spin! ❤️
If you watch Cowboy Bebop - make sure to watch the anime first. They've changed some things in the live action. I still really liked both even though the live action venture a little different. I can't wait to see where they go with season 2!
I'm so happy y'all made it to Houston safely! I hope Andrew is starting to feel better and the medicine is working well for him. You are wonderful Sarra!
This place seems really cozy for rented accommodation! Hope you have a lovely time! I wanted to do NaNoWriMo for the first time this year but nothing went to plan...(what a surprise!lol)...I had my work shifts changed, my partner had to go for radiotherapy treatment and I got Covid (luckily enough noone else got it around me so I am trying to avoid everyone as much as possible). I'm so stressed I can't focus on writing so I try to read instead. Sometimes to simply keep going is a win in itself. Please take care of yourself and stay safe. xx
It’s been a rough two weeks due to my health issues. I have been doing mostly personal journaling. I finished the first two books of the Shadow Demon Saga. The books have been a great distraction since I am not feeling well. I am grateful for your books! I just ordered books 3 and 4. I can’t wait to see what happens in books 3 and 4!
Glad you made it….Also, Texas is known for horrible allergies (born and raised in Dallas)….we are personally ready to leave Texas but waiting on my 2nd girl to graduate. I hope Andrew feels better and you get to reset.
Definitely! I think my life has been in fast forward ever since my 1st kid was born (he's 15 now, and I'm like 'what, where did all that time go?!). But you're doing great, Sarra! You're given your kids a great time on the road, something that'll stay with them forever, and you're still writing and creating as well! ❤️
Yes, this month has gone by so fast!! I thought I still had two more weeks before Thanksgiving and plenty of time to clean. Nope! Spent most of the day cleaning house and a few hours at night to write. You’ve had a full plate. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Hope you and your family enjoy Texas during Thanksgiving! Looking forward to your next video.
Yay for somewhere to settle for a little bit and catch your breath! Hope you enjoy Cowboy Bebop - I discovered the original anime in the early noughties, so I was stoked to find out there was a live-action version starring none other than John "Sulu" Cho 😀It's so accurate to the original, too - they have the same soundtrack composer on board, the same theme tune and style of opening titles, and the first episode had several shot-for-shot recreations of the anime, which was just so much fun for us fans!
Hello Texas! So glad you made it safely and into what looks like an absolutely gorgeous condo! Poor Andrew, hopefully he's feeling better soon! 💙 Yay for words! And I'm excited to hear what you think about Wheel of Time. We're saving it for Thanksgiving break watching! Word count just over 26k over here. Behind but definitely still in the game! Sending love to y'all! 💖
Hooray for arriving somewhere you can nest a bit! I love the idea of you shifting to projects. I write non-fiction so Nano for me has been a group of projects. Sending good healing for the kiddo and good rest for you all. Thank you for showing up for all of us!!
Awesome job on your word count for both days. The time I think is flying by so fast on you because of where you and your family have been busy with your adventures. Which isn't a bad thing really, like they say time flies when your having fun. Your Airbnb looks really nice and homey. I really love the rooftop. Looks like a great place to write and relax. Thank you for sharing Sarra ❤
I’m taking to heart your advice to keep writing even after nano. I didn’t do this last time but will do it this year to finish this novel. Thanks for the encouragement. Good on you staying in the fight!
Howdy and Welcome to Texas Sarra! I'm up here in the Austin area. Hope you get to take a couple days off to recharge and get those episodes of Wheel of Time in. I'm enjoying your vlogs and appreciate you sharing your adventures with us. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Ah Mama I hope your little guy is back to running again quick. Sounds like you all really need a few days to rest. Don't feel like your not accomplishing take some rest and you will become effective. Sometimes we need to jump off the productivity wheel and honor our humanity. Have fun rest recharge:)
Sometimes I think you just need to get the ball rolling again and then it soon picks up speed. You can do this and the new goals are an amazing idea. I won nano but I’ve still got 35k left to finish this book I think and it’s got to be done by the end of November if I’ve got any chance of hitting my preorder deadline 😩 I’m slightly optimistic, I think 😂
Yay for new words! I just watched the 1st 3 episodes of Wheel of Time...and loved it. I'm eager to see what's next. Of course, I haven't read the books so I have nothing to compare it to! 🙃
After the last book, I was planning to write the last book of my Eternal Sorrows series. Now, though, I'm wondering if I'll be able to write two series endings back to back. Giving it some thought.
Im worried about you - you push and push, and not only is that a stress to you but it affects your family too. The world will not fall apart if you just wrote 5ooo words a day, just saying - I was a single mum and that has cost on my health, I am sure of it, please take good care of all. Love from Denmark, where Frost has arrived, another sign of slowing down :)
You should stop tracking words and start tracking time. You wrote for about an hour and got 2200 words, which is good progress. Anyway, I hope everyone's healthy and you have a good thanksgiving. It's a step learning cure to figure out how you write while traveling, but getting your butt in the chair is hard, no matter where you are. Good luck.

I hope Andrew recovers quickly. Enjoy being settled... for a bit. :)
I own all of the "Once Upon A..." anthologies. They are so much fun! Glad to see you participating again!

You're just a powerhouse! Such a great Mom to your darlings. You work so hard for others, make sure you take time for yourself!
Happy y'all arrived safely. Prayers for Andrew's ear. I love the Hansel & Gretel take!

Love back to you!! And thank you for your perfect imperfection!! You are a superwoman, even when you don't see it!!
I'm really enjoying your "journey" ... all the aspects. It's good to be flexible.

That rooftop deck view is amazing! The perfect place to write with a glass of wine 🍷or a cup of coffee☕️
I'm sorry Andrew's sick. I hope he gets well soon. Yay for being in Texas now! :D
My husband and I loved Midnight Mass.

Technically, Nanowrimo has said it’s 50k. Does not have to be on one project 👍🏼🙂
I hope you have h. be a spirt that gives her clues.....
Oooh. That is so clever!
