Greg: You Got A PC?
Me: Yeah, Why?
Greg: Any Dust?
Greg: I’ll take it from here
As is just means - you get what u get - do u think i want a FX when i have a Ryzen 9 - NO., it doesnt mean it doesnt work . Just means its a chip he just doesnt care 4.
@@adamtajhassam9188 it doesn't mean what you think it means, and I don't know why you're ranting about it to Plezxyy
I sold a Ps4 Pro once. We met at Dunkin Donuts. To my surprise, he actually did bring a portable monitor to test it. I was impressed
i love how his cat is just relaxing on the floor on his left our right
yay my first heart from Greg!!!
the cat easily made this video 2x better
these videos could always use more cat
@Darth Vader maybe he would. It would be nice of course.
Plot twist its a green screen
totally agree on the i7 name being very marketable. recently recommended my friend a prebuilt with an 11400, and he thought it was worse than his laptop i7 4720HQ because it’s an i5.
I have the same issue, I automatically think the i5 and i3s are worse than i7s
I5 are for pure gaming
@@romella_karmey not really, since the new ones have hyperthreading and 6 cores.
I don't think its as bad now as it used to be but so many people new to PC hardware put way too much weight into the processor when it comes to gaming.
@@romella_karmey Yea, but no
Greg: "Only the older generation uses Craigslist"
Also Greg: "Taken an arrow to the knee"
So, our generation Greg?
HA
Taking an arrow to the knee is a metaphor for getting married.
I totally understand ditching Craigslist’s, but I really hope you continue this series and style of reviewing listings like these. I would love to see you transition to covering offer up listings and maybe even *gasp* facebook market place as just due to its size its full of content to cover. If you read this and you don’t mind can you let me know if these type of videos do well? Cuz I freaking love these. And if other people love them too I would love to see more.
Marketplace is popping for sales right now. It is where most of these purchases will happen so definitely should be reviewed like this for the benefit of the customers.
@@DroneMee Facebook marketplace is like the wild-west, at least where I live. filled with scams and shady ads... I guess the older generation (who still use Facebook) are the perfect target for these people...
@@HazewinDog what generation are you talking about? Every one I know from age 12-65 uses Facebook and for online second hand sales Marketplace is the most popular platform right now.
Yes scams are a problem everywhere not just Marketplace but this is the exact reason I think a video detailing what to look out for there is important to get out to these potential customers as to not be a victim.
I live in the U.S. btw fyi.
Greg i've been following your channel for years and how you haven't made a million subs yet i'll never know!
I appreciate the support! It is what it is.
I surprisingly found a decently priced 3070 only Craigslist only downsideish was that it was bundled with a mouse, 1440p 144hz monitor and 850w gold power supply for $1200 and an hour drive. Luckily I needed all those minus the mouse and made some money back selling my older stuff
Lucky lucky. Nice find. Good thing you needed those extras
A lot people have sentimental value in their gear and they think it’s worth more then what’s it’s worth. A used item is a used item. Who knows how it’s been tinkered with and so buyers have to take a gamble but if it’s too close to a new price or MSRP it’s certainly not worth it for the buyer.
A hard fact to swallow sometimes. but a fact none the less. Even i have difficulty with this.
@@mikeycrackson The seller should always have a price in mind that they feel is the lowest they’ll ever go and price around that.. ie: start with a little headroom at the top and then negotiate till you meet in the middle or reach a point where you’re at your lowest possible dollar
pricing stupid high out the get go because you feel like you’re going to get low balled anyways is just
1) asking to get low balled
2) to have hardly anybody actually interested in the thing you’re selling
There are plenty of variables that I don’t feel like mentioning and certain circumstances where your strategy makes sense on certain items, but for the most part I’m just not going to even message the person if there price is so hilariously far out there.
Most of the time when I feel like I have something reasonably priced I get way more interest and people less willing to “low ball” because my item actually is a good deal.
Just my two cents
@@mikeycrackson Well there’s context you’re leaving out. How much did it cost you to buy that item? If you bought that item for $275 and try to sell for $250, well then I might as well buy new. $200 would be a more reasonable starting price and $180 is a fair deal.
It’s the people that price so close to new or MSRP or whatever I could competitively find for that price that just drive me insane because it’s just a waste of time and money for both people. Some people get lucky and find a buyer who hasn’t done enough research.
loving the way you are finding stuff to make videos on in this tough market, and them making them super interesting, entertaining, and informative. Love it!
I just wanna say I love what you're doing with this channel. I'll be honest in that I wasn't a very consistent viewer despite being subbed for a while when you were Science Studio. The content kind of got lost in the shuffle, it wasn't anything to do with you. Now though? Completely individualistic and innovative. I love it. The vibes are great, especially for the current market; the channel being just your name is great, a lot more relatable; and the quality of videos is to the point and comprehensive enough for building vets yet not so complicated that newer builders can't get into it.
Brilliant, all around. Great stuff.
"It has an M.2 slot so it's not that old."
I built an i5 4670 that has an m.2 slot. That's old.
M.2 Sata baby!
4th gen isn't THE worst though... Intel hasn't made too much progress y'know. 2nd gen can't even run every game anymore at this point I think, 1st gen certainly can't run some games. I think M.2 slots became common on 6th gen, and the board in that PC looks very budget-y. perhaps they made budget 4th gen boards with M.2 slots as well though.
@@HazewinDog yeah 11th gen is just an optimized and more efficient 4th gen, every gen between them is tiny improvements. Alder Lake is changing that but other than getting Ryzen I've had no reason to upgrade my overclocked 4790K, doesn't even bottleneck my 5700XT
One could call this compilation of shameless listings, Greg's List.
I always sell things 'as-is' for the simple reason that I don't want to deal with the buyer breaking it and then coming back to me for a refund. Same reason why I do not sell things using paypal or similar services. I will however offer to show that things are working just fine to reassure the buyer, but beyond that it's "cash and carry, sold as-is, all sales are final". It also helps to weed out the annoying buyers who expect second hand sales between consumers to have the same kind of warranties as a consumer buying brand new stuff from a retailer.
In much the same way I buy things with the understanding that they are "as-is", though I will pressure a seller to show me in person that things work. If the seller says things are as-is and is unwilling to show that it works, that's where the red flags start flying. I don't care for the reason why they won't show that it works, I'll just assume that they won't because they can't show a broken thing working.
Honestly, I price my stuff 25-30% above what I want for it, because in my area people will commit to a price, and proceed to show up and expect a discount. Depending on how many offers I have, I may or may not want to call them on their bluff.
Also, despite it's stigma, technically anything that doesn't have a warranty is "AS-IS". That doesn't necessarily mean it's broken. I mark all of my eBay items AS-IS because I've had many instances, where people will break an item, then claim that it happened during shipping and ask for a discount or a refund.
So you are that guy. I’m the opposite I price my stuff 25-30 percent less than the next guy as to sell it quick and it have to hassle of price as mine is lower than anyone in the site
I describe my items as fully tested and perfectly functional, not as is
Yes it’s finally back!
Glad your keeping up with content, met you back in 19' at LTX
The "As-is" guy is going to freak out when I roll into his driveway with my motor home, monitors all plugged in and ready to test that PC out.
There are also sometimes good surprises. I bought an i7, gtx 1080 machine for $1k cdn and to my surprise, it came with a 1600w P2 PSU and bluray drive. I about crapped my pants when I discovered it wasn't a 600w, but there was a 1 before the 6, lol.
Hey Greg, you joked about testing stuff in a parking lot! I was buying a GTX 1060 about a year ago and wanted to test it before I handed over the cash and I was able to work w the workers at a local Burger King to let me bring in a test bed to try out the GPU. Very glad I did cause the seller came in wide-eyes and it didn’t work haha!
Ever since then I try to choose locations that I know that have outdoor plugs I can leverage or nice workers inside :)
Greg, I've been following your channel since I think 2017. Recently I got hooked up with Fix or Flop and PCDC series. Man your quallity of videos are top notch. You deserve a lot more subs. Now I'm watching every video, easy in my top 3 tech channels.
I recently tried selling a nice gaming pc on craigslist near minneapolis at a good price of $400. i5 4570k, gtx 970, 16gb ram nice fractal case. No one wanted the damn thing. I kept lowering it down to $250 and eventually just sold the parts on ebay. I think the amount of ridiculous ads are driving people away from craigslist maybe.
As a small time builder, I use CL and reddit primarily depending if its local or has to be shipped. The most common denominator Ive seen with all these bad ads though is basically the difference between a novice and someone competent with technology. Anyone saying their crappy 3770k with a 7790 will run max fps for all games, you should prob walk away before finishing reading lol
I sell on FB often. Doing pretty good. Can you do a how to sell on offer up video?
Sure can!
Same boat Rob and I definitely second that because Ive tried offer up and didn't like it. Maybe Gregg has some good Offer Up Juju lol
This is actually a possible pipeline for PCDC videos. "Got a gaming pc that you want to sell? Get it cleaned by Greg so that you know it's picture ready."
Love the cat in the background thats just chilling
Same thing is happening on ebay. There is always a handful of people asking buy it now retail pricing for a 5 year old gpu or $150 for a ryzen 2500 cpu.
Let alone no positive feedback seller history.
People are dumb.
I guessed my old HP prebuilt can run games at max setting too, at 3fps 😜
No matter how quality your content is, I see cat in background, my attention shifts there. Instant like, Meow out of 10
The first PC the person obviously took the GPU out of it to sell for probably more than he paid for the whole PC. Probably the other stick of ram too. It would have been a competent build had he left those in it.
Also,
I find most people that sell something “as-is” or “untested” means they know the thing does not work, they just get away with it when they sell it.
The cat watching the door without moving had me laughing
14:40 - As someone who enjoys testing hardware and at one point enjoyed building PC's to sell, I have been tempted to mark systems "Sold fully working as-is, final sale" because of people having buyers remorse, or the chance of them damaging the PC and asking for me to take responsibility
I will 100% own up to any failure that would or could have been caused by me, but dealing with buyers remorse sucks as a seller. That being said AS-IS is usually associated with parts that are at the very least not fully functional, thus I rarely use it without good reason.
I installed a 6kW DC to AC power inverter. I figured, "why get a generator with an engine when you're already bringing an engine and generator with you"?
As long as you're up to date on your engine maintenance and have fuel in the tank, you're good.
People use as is to not be liable, stopping the he said she said. You always can always ask if the seller can prove if it works.
The ad said pick up only, you can test it there.
As an every day joe, do you want to have liability and be sued? I would not warrantee a used system in any regard.
5:44 holy shit that deal is insane
that i3-9100F PC is actually falsely advertised as well, it lists the RAM at 3200MHz, but it clearly has a B365 board inside, which caps out at 2666MHz.
The RAM’s probably an actual 3200MHz kit, you wouldn’t be able to use it that speed as is, but it’d be a motherboard upgrade away from running at that speed.
Best RUclipsr, sooo inspiring and imformational Keep up the good work 😀
Wow, I appreciate that!
The midrange one is the exactly case I used to own
Lovin the content as always Greg, also wondering what lights you use behind your shelfs?
Just generic ARGB strips from Amazon. Like the $20 kits Lol. And thanks!
looks like the $1,200. pc was from a prebuilt. took the the motherboard and gpu out and put it in a new case. lot of pre built don't have a heat sink for the chipset for that one area. also has a pre built cpu cooler.
4:52
100% scalper that sold the 3060 or 3070 that picked up this prebuilt
I’ve seen the first rigs specs on a pre built. This is how he got a 3080.
15:30 Greg... you can always meet them in a Starbucks or some coffee shop and test the computer in front of you. You don't need to bring a generator lol.
I read that ad for the, "Can run at 400 fps" and noticed recommended 240 360... and thought that meant resolution... hell it still might.
You should run a ad on Craigslist and just have it say. “Looking for a gaming pc? Go to these YT channels and get educated first. Don’t get conned on CL”
I mean, I can say, my GTX 1660 ti will run Cyberpunk 2077 at over 300 fps.... but not tell you that... that is only in menu.... and not while playing.. So yeah, it matters in context.
I have actually seen this claimed and knew it was a menu number....... 🤡🤡🤡👟👟👟
@@breakdown7153 hahaha. I found it funny..
That deferment of you submitting an offer for a land, really is the reality of the real estate business, for those who haven’t seen it happen or gone through it. People will buy a property, renovate it, say they’re in it for $475,000, but sell for $550,000 while the other houses around it maybe go for $450,000. Any good real estate agent for the seller, will tell them, the comps for that area are way lower, so overpricing and item because “you think you know the price” when knowing quite well, we ALL know the real price for it.
You would think people would have the wherewithal to at least clean the tower exterior before taking pictures. Even assuming any of these were well priced the nastiness would make me skip it.
The pc @ 12:54 is a lenovo legion pc, my buddy bought the t5i for 900 dollars at bestbuy two months ago and his had a 1660 super and a i5 10400f
It's disappointing that people can't just call a 1650 Super what it is: a reliable mid-range 1080p option. I did all the shopping for a friend's 1st build on a tight budget earlier this year and ended up with a horrific desktop GPU. He ended warranteeing it and we strategically overpaid for a 1650S, which he's ultimately very happy with, and we both accepted that the price of overpaying for it was equal to the combination of his need and the performance value it provides. Self-awareness is worth its weight in gold lol
I have the FX8320 and I thought my case was ugly but the ad for the 8350 PC makes mine look fancy. I couldn't get $300 for mine let alone $600. Even if I threw in the two monitors, the keyboard, mouse, mousepad, and speakers I probably couldn't get $300 for mine. It's just not worth buying in my opinion due to the CPU being so old. Granted, the FX8320 can still play a lot of games at decent FPS but I wouldn't want to sell it to someone who may think they're getting a good deal when in reality they're not. Save your money and get a PC that will last you years while needing minimal upgrades.
Great video
I'm not sure if you've done it before, but have you considered people sending in their own ads for you to critique, mainly on the quality of the ad ?
8:17 is the best deal I could possibly have right now... I have an i5 760 and a GT710...
Was on the phone with the red line on your shirt i tought it was the youtube line saying i watched this video already. Great video as usual
i say as is because i have sold working play stations, computers, ect. and then they say it doesnt work and want to return it.. buyers tend to put their bad parts in consoles and return them, saying they dont work.. ..
i find a lot of people will say as is on something that worked last time they used it, but has been sitting around for a while. And if what he says is true, and it's been sitting in storage. Maybe that is why. But I definitely understand what you are saying
I like Craigslist cause it is so clean. No distractions, no unnecessary flash and annoying bright colors and logos.
That being said I don’t really buy computers off of it. I use it a lot for cheap firewood. A lot of people will let you come pick up their tree trimmings for basically nothing.
Man i love this series
Have to take a look at Craigslist in my area, you peaked my interest
I see deals in my area from time to time. It really is just a waiting game for someone to sell something at a good-to-decent deal.
I remember getting an XFX RX580 XXX Edition for $89 right when the pandemic hit back in March 2020.
Nice. I will be in Winter Haven tomorrow for work lol.
Last one wasn't too terrible, but oh how I miss the days of getting Powercolor RX570s 4GB brand new for $130.

I offered $6000 for a $6500 Listed PC on CL, with all the parts it came out to $6450 roughly. It was used, so I figured $6000 is fine for what it is what boxes and all and receipts.... NOPE!
Yea it sucks but used graphics cards still sell for over their new msrp counterpart.
Wtf did it have sli 3090s??? Who needs a $6500 pc?
@@beavislightyear3923 people that use them for machine learning…. Not everything is about gaming lol

The first Gaming PC has me sold I can finally play free cell solitaire and 3d pinball on Max settings
maybe not Free cell but you can max mine sweeper and snakes
I like Craig's List. The layout is clean and simple and doesn't get in the way of the items on sale. Lots of white space that's not cluttered up with a bunch of extraneous garbage. OK, it's not flashy and might not be entertaining to look at, but I'm not going there for entertainment, I'm going there to (potentially) buy stuff.
And sure, not all the ads are written by professional copy writers and some of the asking prices are insane, but that's not the fault of craig's list -- you're going to get the same thing on any classified ad type system. I pointed out ad this morning to a colleague that was posted (not to craig's list) by a local person trying to sell their services as a computer integrator and the PC in their main photo was dusty and dirty…
you should give your opinion of what the prices shoould be for the PCs
Have I entered a parallel universe where eBay does not exist?
I like these videos. Glad to see you diving back into it.
12:48 dont know if you noticed but the cpu fan isnt running but it looks like system is on
I saw a gt 710 system with 6th get i7 and 8gb of ram with 120gb ssd for 570€, sad part is a lot of people buy that crap.
It's an established fact, verified by studies that people tend to over value things they own and under value things they propose to buy.
Video suggestion. NZXT just put out their build kits, maybe demonstrate how the kit comes, the ability to build based on their instructions and benchmarks.
that pc at 11 minutes is crazy. I felt bad because I felt like i robbed my friend when i sold my old pc for $1k, it had a i7-6700k, 1080 strix, 32 gb ram, 250 ssd, 3 tb hard drive, corsair liquid cooler and 850 power supply and just the fancy rgb fans and strips lol
RX 570 with the i5 3570 was my budget dream.
Sad that AMD stopped manufacturing their polaris GPU (570, 580).
And an i5 3570 was hard - impossible to find for my h61 board. So I ended up build a whole new PC with an i5 9500 IGPU and now dying for a budget segment GPU like the 570 or 1650.
I am also using RX 580 atm, lol

Craigslist is the home of highly used items for slightly lower than new prices. Everyone acts like they have gold on there and only discount used items 10%-20%
13:23...That wasn't even a mid range gaming PC three years ago.
What's a good site to sell pc parts? I got a brand new power supply that I got to sell asap.
I've heard if you drive to Winter Haven or anywhere in Polk County, you never return...
Puddy cat didn't seem to ooze enthusiasm there, Greg! Good vid, thank you.
The $1200 PC is Lenovo Legion T5 pre-built. One should be able to get a better speced one from manufacturer brand new for same $
I love this series and was just binge watching your old videos with this theme. Keep up the A+ Content!
That's crazy I bought a rx 570 strix edition for 40 bucks back in 2019 lol man. Times have changed.
Guy at 16 minutes said "MUST BE PICKED UP", how are you gonna say he is going to meet you in a parking lot. If you have to pick it up, then im sure you could ask to boot it first. Also as for the 600 cost, he does mention that he is responsive to email, and seems like someone you could talk down in my opinion. An SSD can be had for 30$ additional and would speed up this system quite a bit. The sad part is that it is DDR3 machine, so no real future at all for it
Thermaltake Chaser MK-1, is not "mk" it's short for "mark" like version 1.
Man, those ads are absolute jank, let alone the website itself haha
Except the last one
Love the cat in the background 😍
Always wondered why Craigslist failed to gain traction here in the UK 🇬🇧. After seeing their website I'm this video, I can see why.
These prices are freaking crazy. I bought a used pc on fb marketplace with an Intel core i5 10600K and a 2070 super for $1200.
Here in Norway you can get a used computer with 1070 8gb and i5 6gen for 400-500 dollars.
What I see when I go on Craigslist is a lot of PCs that are super underpriced for the specs and they ask for cash and pick-up, they also say they do testing. I've seen 1080ti's with an Ryzen 3600 and 32GB of RAM for like 600$. With an SSD and HDD. I just saw a 3090 setup under 700$. These seem very, very fishy to me.
Lol yea scam. Especially the 3090.

Really like the "arrow to the knee" regarding gaming at max?? settings...with 8 GB of DRAM!!
Your the guy who corrects everyone’s grammar and that’s how you go about conflicts on here.
4:50 this guy made a mining rig out of this pc used storage ssd and one ram & flipping the rest
Found a guy on facebook market: Gaming Pc (No GPU) also taking the storage drive too. So in reality it just a paper weight.
it's scary the last build is almost identical to my budget computer lmao
