Seneye Reef Does all this and pretty much with the same accuracy as tested previously. Also has a much better logging system which is synced to the cloud automatically after each custom PAR reading.
You can buy PAR meter for 150, new, and it will also do temp reading, PH reading and other stuff with mobile app too. Seneye Reef, worth it for the PAR meter alone.
@@tjsreef5223 i appreciate the response man i'm still on the fence do they have a refund policy. when my tank is ready for corals i'll surely look more in depth at the stuff and see if my LFS rent out a par meter i don't mind if i have to drive an hour to pick it up but if not seneye is on my radar just the reviews holding me back
@@MrDon967 The only "bad" thing about Seneye are the slides, which you need to keep buying monthly to get PH and Ammonia readings. I don't know if active slide is needed to be able to use PAR meter, but you get one slide for free with it anyway. Then, months later if you change lights or something else, in worst case you would need to buy another slide. It's still better option in my opinion, unless you prefer to rent PAR from local LFS for a reasonable fee.
Sounds confusing to me! LOL. I dont get what you are saying " taking 60 par measurements one every 30 seconds and then every 30 minutes it will average those" Does this mean I have to wait 30 seconds to move it to get another par measurement somewhere else in tank? I dont get the averaging either. What if I just want to move it around and collect the par? I listened further and you said sample mode so is that what I do if I want to just move it around and collect readings and not wait 30 seconds.? Ijust had another thought LOL. When light cycle ramps do I need to take a par reading each time interval? Like 12 pm 1 pm ect?
I was going to rent that part meter from you guys to get my tank exact but it wasn't up there. Are you guys still doing that? I can't afford an expensive part meter to use only once.
They rent them still!! You just pay full price, and return it and the re-stock fee is actually the rental fee. It's renting without saying rental... BRS announced this change on the FB group.
Like others have already mentioned, we now have what we call a "wet tested" par meter. @SlowBikeSlow hit the nail on the head. Very similar to the old rental program BUT you now can have up to 60 days with the meter instead of just 7.
They still do but it’s a upfront cost of 500$ then you get that back minus 70$ restocking fee when it is sent back, the problem is no one has 500$ to pay upfront for this.
We actually did a BRStv investigates on this a while back. Link below if you wanted to check it out! The short answer is that the Apogee meters are generally more accurate, but the Seneye will get you close enough in most cases. Keep in mind that the Seneye's sensor is also more sensitive to tilting affecting the par reading, so make sure the sensor is completely flat when you take your measurements. ruclips.net/video/6hUkufXBb3I/видео.html
Wind it in. No one's hating. It's not for the working man. Renting one from the LFS makes sense. No one's hating BRS, we love that they do par ratings properly when reviewing products. Saves us spending our moolas. And. If you've got the money, go for it.
Don’t know if you guys will see this, but in your experience, do mew anemone hide from lights for the first few days? I bought a Condylactus and it’s supposedly a high light anemone but is currently moving on to the underside of its rock in a tank that zoanthid corals are thriving in, which I find weird because Zoa’s don’t like bright lights.
When first added to a tank, anemones can take some time to find a spot they like. Condy anemones in particular seem to like to move around more than any other common anemone species in the aquarium trade, so don't be surprised if the anemone is seemingly constantly moving. Also, be careful about adding corals to this tank as anemones can sting corals as they move around.
@@BRStv thanks! I’m also worried it may not like the parameters. The only off thing is by phosphates but I’m regaining that edge through some larger water changes and a stricter feeding schedule.
Only someone who services customer tanks and or does installs will pay $600 for this. That’s the only way to justify the cost is if you plan to use it a lot!
That's a fair point. If you're buying a meter like this, you're probably using it quite a bit. For those reefers who don't need to use a par meter very often, we do have our "wet tested" par meter program, which has replaced our old par meter rental program. The old program had a deposit, which was equal to the new "wet tested" program cost. Unfortunately we can't send out these expensive meters without some sort of deposit system. An alternative may be to check out your local reefing club as they'll sometimes have meters you can use without a deposit.
Search the BRS site for their "wet tested" models. This is their promoted "rental" program now... buy, use (up to 60 days), return (minus 20% restocking fee, a.k.a. their "rental" fee).
That's completely fair. We do have "wet tested" par meters where you can return it for a refund, minus a $69.99 restocking fee within 60 days.
