- Multiple wildfires are out of control in various parts of Greece. I'm currently on the Greek island of Skiathos, and from here I can see the massive smoke cloud from the fires on Evia island.

I just left Greece 6 days ago, so Greek people and especially firefighters are definitely in my thoughts. Wishing all the best and for this natural disaster to be put under control and the wildfires put out ASAP! 🇬🇷♥️

Intentionally set alight by Left wing extremists trying to pressure oust the current Government, there video of forest floor with gas canisters that were lit and left to burn, witnesses even heard them exploding, they would get to the area put fires out, a week later again gas canisters explosions, there are allot of folk who heard and seen those gas canisters, the Greek Left are a bunch if terrorists

This is really weird, I have been following you on your journeys around the world for some years now and always hoped you would visit my island one day. Only yesterday I was watching you walking around Frankfurt and I assumed you are still in the northern part of Europe. And now you are here on Skiathos, my home for the last 36 years,. Unfortunately at a very bad time with the fires in Evia and other parts of Greece . We are all praying for some rain.

The day I flew out from Athens I remember seeing smoke out of the hotel on the way to airport. I hope these fires get under control.

Too many wildfires going on simultaneously for the last couple of days in various locations in Greece... The situation on Evia island and Attica, where I am from, is really devastating. We pray for our country and for all the countries facing natural disasters. Nature is our biggest wealth and we must do everything to preserve it for the next generations. Just home (Ireland) after 2 weeks in corfu and paxos. Skies 'cloudy' at times. Locals saying the haze was due to fires in mainland. Been travelling to Greece for 30 years, never seen this before. Also a lot of power outages. Wishing everyone ok xxx

@@gardensofthegods It is a bit better today, however the damage is enormous. It's textbook ARSON. They will install windmills all over the afflicted areas. The law very conveniently allows for this.....
Serbia has sent over 30 firefighters, 13 vehicles, and 3 helicopters to Greece to help fight the fire. Kind Regards

Just home to London yesterday from Rhodes. There was a such a big smoke cloud and power cuts on the whole island, the smoke came from Marmaris area as Turkey is very close to Rhodes.
It was really scary situation as the island became dark, the tourists was outside as you couldn't stay inside apartmants, rooms as was no AC working and since 8days the temperature was close or above 40 degrees celsius. The sun was a weird pinkish red colour and ash was falling.

You made it to the Sporades! Probably the greenest islands in Greece and hopefully, they will be spared from fires.. my thoughts to my brothers and sisters in Hellas, I hope the situation will be brought under control soon.

Either dew or plasma fires from underground burning super hot…enough to melt cars and burn houses but somehow leave the trees. Jeff Snyder2 channel has been revealing a lot of interesting evidence of fires burning inside of trees starting with their root system. I know our magnetosphere that protects our earth is vanishing quickly. Maybe the sun is overcharging the earth?

Just saw a video on Twitter and it was unbelievably surreal. Knew of wildfires in southern Turkey but not in Greece.
That's crazy. We could even see the smoke from that all the way up here on the southern tip of the Sithonia peninsula of Halkidiki today.

I suggest going to Skopelos and especially Alonnisos and Skyros. Not such a tourist madness in August like in touristy Skiathos.

Nice to see you back in Greece, dear Gabriel !! Thank you for your concern and empathy for the fire disaster that hit us. It is organised crime in Greece nowadays. They burn a place to the ground and then they build windmills all over. It's all the rage at the moment. What kind of green energy is that, which requires every bit of green burnt, is beyond me. Apparently it is very profitable, so they just go ahead and do it.

Be Safe Gabe! Although the fire seems far away, I have heard some have been set intentionally. 😳 Bad people everywhere. Keep your phone on at all times for those alerts.
Lyndon b Johnson once said " he who controls the weather controls the world ". The technology today manipulates these fires and other disasters yet God ultimately is in control.
@@digarcia1890 indeed, all the monasteries, and small churches in the the path of fire, were miraculously kept untouched. In a small village , they made a procession with the remains of a local saint , and the cloud of smoke turned into heavy rain, which soaked the place. God almighty loves us so much !!! I could provide you with the specifics if you are interested.

The climate has changed... No rains in Greece almost until February...Everything is more dry especially after the extreme temperatures over 40 Celsius for days 🙁

The northern California town of Greenville is largely gone now. Burned down a few days ago. Not sure if you're familiar with it.
A similar thing happened to the small town of Lytton (pop. 300) here in Canada in July. Just a day or so after setting an all-time heat record of more than 121F (49C).
I haven't heard of it, but maybe drove through it sometime. That's a damn shame.

It's all due to government incompetence. Wether in Greece or California, the lack of basics like adequate fire breaks etc simply are not being done. These areas have had fires for many years yet No effective measures are taken.

It's really massive, looks almost like a volcano eruption. Very sad.
180% of forests burned in 4 days for the whole period of last 10 years. There are people who saw and photo drones and bombs inside the forests. Some people arrested for having fire producing mechanisms. Our governement had an agreement with Germany for 100% of the places that got burned to install air-producing electricity. They even introduced a new law that its legal to do so on burned forests...
There is a lot going in Greece , hundreds of videos talking about our situation with the same thing in mind . FUCK THE GOVERNMENT. There is a chance they will give order for army law by Monday. See ya fellow people.

You should see the smoke from the West coast of the US wild fires happening now. Reaching places like Salt Lake City and Denver.
After your Cyclades tour I recommended the Sporades as a visiting place. Glad you made it but it is sad that you had to do it on such a circumstance.

Hi Gabriel, I live in Santa Rosa, the sky has been smoky the last 2 days making the sun orange/red. The Dixie fire, up near Chico, is now the 3rd worst fire in Cali history.

Gabriel, i just read the news that ppl in Greece are being evacuated because of the fires, it's so sad how ppl. there are going on.
I just finished watching your videos from Germany, and I noticed ppl, in Germany, look kind of sadness in the way they walk, i live in NYC, and i try to connect here with those cities in Germany, it seems to me that since the pandemic humans are changing, i observed them ,one way of the other faraway.

There were big fires in Turkey that continued for 10 days. Forest fires were extinguished in Antalya, Bodrum and Marmaris. Unfortunately, 9 people and many animals died.
I hope all the fires will go out all over the world and new forests will grow. Do you know about this Gab?

Since you were in Skiathos I hope you visited Lalaria beach. I think it's the place which suits you better on this island. Skopelos and Skiros are less crowded and have more picturesque towns.

While the world is runnin’ down, you’re making the best of what’s still around. Thanks for this update because a lot of us have heard about the wildfires in Greece. And did u know, Greece is on a shortlist of countries the U.S. government sez not to travel to cuz of covid (but am sure you’re taking precautions). FYI, a couple of weeks ago it was hazy in NYC for a couple of days and they said it was from the California wildfires … so it’s tough to stay away from the smoke even a continent away.

It's the same here in NorCal, the sun's been orange/red for a week. It's gotten to the point that I added Purple Air to my phone to watch the air quality.
I'm glad you finally made it to the Sporades, but I wish circumstances were better. I only spent one day in Skiathos--most of my visit a few years ago was Skopelos.
I read that there are insane wildfires in Turkey as well. I guess one massive fire is getting very close to the town of Marmaris, and it may burn to the ground. Pretty sad..
I visited California, Oregon and Seattle last July and there were a lot wildfire over there, too.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos Always check the schedule first, They are often grouped together on those small islands. Not sure why. In this case all (5) arrived or departed between 10:00 and 12:00. Tomorrow an other chance, between 8:55 and 12:00 It's for the early birds not the night hawks ;-)

Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos was my last trip pre Covid in Oct 2019! So basically 2 years of travelling wasted! The uncertainty and changes make me nervous to try at the moment!
I’d hoped to spend Easter 2020 in Greece. Then Easter 2021. Hope now for Easter 2022.
It all gets pushed back another year, another year, another year :(

Just saw more coverage of the fire here in Los Angeles. We heard it continues to spread.
The Northern Sporades are beautiful! I hope you visit Alonissos. It’s a marine park and quiet compared to many islands. Sometimes you even see a monk seal-though I went for many years before I did! I’m packing for my trip in a couple weeks, and hoping so much for rain for Greece.
Unfortunately looks like this is becoming the ‘new normal!’ I hope airlines can start doing more to offset carbon emissions so that travel doesn’t contribute to these issues so much, maybe start buying huge remote areas of land & just planting trees.
