Absolutely loved the story of the hidden church. This is really a gem you discovered. I could see other tourists, but I can only imagine if you're alone there.... super special.
Of course you will always end up in your favourite country, eh? Santorini is the most visited of all of the Greek locales, yes? Tourists surely seem to love that magical place.
I have watched many videos of Santorini, but they were nothing like this one ... It's like a whole different island... Gabriel, you are such a pro.... You make other travel bloggers look like school kids who haven't done their homework... You ARE the golden standard.....
awesome comment. totally agree. love to see him swim...and his content is refreshing, fun, intertaining and always informative...oh and enjoy his food/hotel reviews too!
Imagine the hellscape that would’ve been. Your civilization is based on this island, and the volcano eruption literally destroys the entire thing, and absolutely annihilates your civilization. It wasn’t always a circular ring shaped island. The explosion emptied the magma chamber, and and it sank into the sea. Creating the crescent/circular shaped island. All those high cliffs in the shots he was driving is just the ash and pumice that rained down onto the remnants of the island. Imagine being away in a war, or abroad somewhere, returning to your home island - and seeing it as it is now. It must’ve been devastating.
It’s special to return to places you have been to before in your youth . During more innocent days and when your were more reckless . It’s a beautiful form of nostalgia . All the distance and years you have covered and suddenly you are back at displacement “0”. Older , wiser and appreciative to be back in a happy place of your past. That secret church is that place
I visited Santorini last year and I was very impressed by the prehistoric Minoan town in akrotiri (~1650BC) and the frescoes which have been moved to archeological museum in Thera town.

My wife and I were on Santorini last October...my first time being back there since I stumbled upon it in 1981 while backpacking around much of the world. Back then I lived in a desroyed home on a cliff in Oia...things have "grown up" alot but Oia is still lovely.
Gabriel says: I'm going to take it easy and have some holidays, so I won't upload much.... 2 days later: 2 new videos drop within a few hours 😂 Love your work mate, keep it up!
I never tire of watching your travelling. I remember when you were last there . Cant believe all that time has gone by so quickly. You are always good at explaining where you are and what the place is like its like i am there. What a stunning sunset! Thank you for sharing :)
Incredible video! Superb! Often what you see of Santorini is the touristy spots, I honestly didn't even bother to visit this island last year because I I was just thinking in the crowds, prices and overcommercialized spots, but this side is so interesting! Awesome, awesome video!
Aw what a wonderful video! There’s nothing like the feeling of finding a quiet sunset spot on Santorini - it’s never been beaten yet! The secret church area is beautiful I went there a few weeks ago expecting crowds for the sunset but was pleasantly surprised… only around 5 others were there. It looked like you were near the abandoned windmills hill (can’t remember the name?!) near the end. I wanted to go up there for sunset but didn’t have time unfortunately. Another reason to go back one day… Thank you for sharing with us 👌
Hi Gabriel, I realize the grind it must be to create these videos, having to film and produce them on ongoing basis; I enjoy your videos very much and always look forward to what you may bring us next, really appreciate all your hard work. Safe travels!
The 1st time we went to Santorini we stayed in Akrotiri. Our hotel was within walking distance to Caldera Beach. We were also able to walk to the Akrotiri Archeological site. Akrotiri is a great area to stay in.
Go here. It's great! Akrotiri was a Cycladic Bronze Age settlement on the volcanic Greek island of Santorini. The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption sometime in the 16th century BC and buried in volcanic ash, which preserved the remains of fine frescoes and many objects and artworks. Akrotiri has been excavated since 1967.
Hey Gabe every time I watch your Greece video's specially your Santorini video's you bring me back some sweet memories back in 2007 when I went to Greece took a ferry and headed straight to Santorini me and a Greek friend of mine from Montreal, Canada By the way the music really goes hand in hand with the scenery great taste I get very emotional when I watch your Santorini video's Love you brother keep up the good work 🙂💪👍
Santorini is a natural wonder of the world. Its world famous volcano, which constitutes a magnificent sight and attraction of Santorini, formed the island and gave it its current shape and geomorphology by a massive volcanic eruption, thousands of years ago.
Pyrgos, up the mountain is amazing !! you can see all the island at once, also take a look at Megalochori, lots of churches and nice people, not touristic crazy any of them
Greece is my favorite place on earth and I go every year but to the same little island. Occasionally I’ll spare a week or so to check out someplace new but always hurry back to my home away from home and spend the bulk of my time in the same place. I’ve never been able to talk myself into Santorini, so I’m watching this series with interest. Have to admit I laughed out loud when you stumbled upon the crowd watching the sunset. :) I’m glad you found your quiet sunset in time though! Happy trails!
This is the most amazing video. Thank you for showing us things that are so different from all the other travel videos that vloggers make of the typical spots. That is the Akrotiri Lighthouse at the end, where everyone was watching the spectacular sunset.
Nice! My wife and I went to that same sunset spot in 2009... it was MUCH less crowded then! (May instead of August) We also got a great meal at a nearby restaurant with a great view.
Ya sou Gabriel, My father was born in Epirus, so I do have relatives still living all over Greece. I have visited many times. I will be vacationing in Greece in September for 3 weeks. Can't wait. Visiting Corfu, Epirus, Lefkada, and Thessaloniki as well as Athens where my 1st cousins live. Can you share some of the prices of souvenirs on the expensive islands like Santorini. Curious about how much they charge for a t-shirt. Great content and I can see why Greece is your favorite country. Also love to see some of the food that you order and prices. Very reasonable.
Gabriel, many thanks for all the amazing travel adventures - Always high quality contents, stunning views, beautiful music, breathtaking footages and always entertaining and informative.Great work as always, take care, stay healthy, stay safe.🙏🏽👍
Thank you for showing the rest of the island! My wife and I are spending a few days on Santorini next month and are excited to see what is outside of Oia and Fira. Any plans to visit Milos?
For some obscure reason that dog on the beach barking at you had me thinking of when you were chased around a stone structure of sorts, back in India (?). Don't ask why, just shot through my brain...🙂
This is awesome! I'm headed to Santorini in a month - and I found this video very informational and fun to watch! Thank you for sharing your experience!
Wowwww what. Nice Mind blowing Incredible breathtaking Views, and Scenery there in Santorini Greece 🇬🇷 and I love your ATV motor road trip drive sir Gabe, I wish to go there soon and amazing 😍 🤩 Rock formation in Shoreline beach,. Thank you so much sir , Gabe, for your wonderful walk around tour Godbless from your solid fan supporter from the Philippines 🇵🇭 sir Marvin,👏👏👏👏👏👏♥️🙏🙂👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hi Gabriel, you went back to working on a suntan. How is the water? Is it very warm? That's a ritual of watching the sun go down in Florida like the Siesta Key beach and Sarasota Beach that's on every beach, especially the keys with the drum circle very trippy.
I think the weird shaped in the cliff at the first beach (Eros?) can be explained by the fact that there are thick layers of pumice on Santorini and that wind and rain will easily erode this type of rock. By the way, have you ever tried to walk up a pumice hill? Don't bother. You will be spinning your wheels, lol!!!
It would be fun if ""we"" 😄 went to an island ""we've"" never been to before. ((Yes, I travel vicariously.) 😇 Another fun thing might be to video yourself pulling up a map of the world and then close your eyes and put your finger down on a place where you'll go next. That would be a lot of fun.
Strange idea....Gabriel Action Figures....Gabe on an ATV.....Gabe swimming....Gabe on a scooter.... Gabe with backpack...Gabe with a cat....I'd buy 'em.
IMO the only problem with climbing down these paths to see "secret" beaches and churches is that one has to climb back up. Other than that, enjoyed the video.
Honestly I have no idea how I've never bumped into you mate. We always seem to be in the same areas around the same time but never actually cross paths
At least your potential encounter was with Gabriel. While traveling around Greece in the 80’s I kept running into the same creepy guy at nearly every turn. I swore I was going to leave the next time I ran into him, but thankfully, I never did again. Funny, what stays with you all these years later.
@@5thdimension625 that's a shame to have that experience. Hopefully you made it out unscathed. Travel is strange like that you cross paths with all sorts of people. I honestly think when you let yourself go with travel everything seems to happen for a reason. Completely different to the 9 to 5 office job
@@VisionofTomo The guy was harmless I believe, but just very weird. Anyway, thanks for your comment of concern. I happen to feel really safe when I travel as I seem to attract Federal Agents (both male & female) while traveling.
