The blocks are Ellison die cuts. You put paper on the black side, slide it into the die cut machine, press down the handle and it punches out the shape. Elementary schools use them. They would love for you to donate them to a school that uses them!
HI Mike great great dumpster videos great great curbside videos old and new . you always find great great treasures . and we learn a lot from you are very smart very hard working and handling very heavy labor . good luck to you and wife with your new house please stay safe enjoy the new year 2023 . and thank you for your part with trying to save are planet earth.
Moving my mom out of her home of 55 years. Saving all of the scraps I come across that I've seen in your videos for a local scrapper. So far: two freezers, two bed frames, chains, snow chains, railroad ties, wire, nuts, bolts, and more. Who knows what else we'll find. I'm sure the rest of the family is getting tired of me saying save that for the scrapper. LOL Learning a lot from your videos. Thanks
Those pattern blocks go with a press kind of thing and they punch shapes or letters out of paper. They have racks and racks of them in the teacher workroom at the school I work at. The older teachers use them to decorate their bulletin boards. The new teachers use those cricut machines that plug into the computer and cut stuff out.
What you found in the box are Ellison die. An Ellison machine, which is needed to press the rubber down on the die, so the metal stamp will cut paper. These are used in school and the stamps are not cheap!!
They are for cutting paper shapes. Our Artco craft store had them for cutting letters and numbers along with a ton of shapes. They run from $10.00 to $50.00 each depending on the size. There is a roller machine that they go through to press them through the paper. Be careful they are very sharp.
Mike those things you found are punches. You put them in a hand press with a piece of construction paper and punch out a copy of the picture on front. When I Taught in Houston I used to use it to cut out bulletin board letters.
That sign you found, we just bought a building that has a 9' stack of them! Two sheets of aluminum with corrugated plastic inside, protective plastic wrap on the outside and painted to boot. Our local recycling said they would take them but pay nothing. After watching you so long, I wasn't surprised. Taking them to the landfill.
Looking forward to seeing you surpass half a million subscribers in 2023! When I started watching your videos you were doing recon on a bmx bike and a skateboard! You’ve come a long way brother. Happy New Year
Those pattern blocks are actually cutting patterns, you put the pattern in a press & put paper under the foam side & pinch the pattern block in a press, it has knives in the foam that will cut out the pattern for crafts. Paper die cutting.
The sign material you found at 6:25 and discarded, is called ACM (Aluminum Composite Material). It's basically two very thin sheets of aluminum with a polyethylene core. I doubt the recycle place would give anything for it, so good call for not bothering with it.
Those pattern blocks look similar to the blocks that my wife uses to cut exact duplicate pieces of cloth for her quilting hobby. She also has other pattern blocks for cutting other kinds of flat stock, like cardboard or paper, that she uses for God knows what. I do know that the pattern blocks that she buys are expensive when new.
Mike, those blocks are stencils to a die cutting machine. Basically you put paper below the block, foam side down, and press the top with the machine. It cuts the stencil out and the foam ejects the paper.
Hey Mike. I think those blocks are made to place inside of a press that has a long lever. You place the desired block pattern inside the press with the dark rubber side down. You then place paper stock under the dark rubber side and then pull the lever down on the press which compresses the black and the sharp metal edges on the metal pattern cuts the shapes out of the paper stock. It’s an educational tool used to cut shapes out of colored construction paper for school bulletin board displays. The are very expensive to purchase new. That is my best guess on what they are used for. Take care and have a great new year!
Even the plates made for card-making (like Hallmark cards) or cutting fabric patches for quilting using a Cricut machine are pricey. You can probably sell them for a good bit.
Thanks for all the laughs and tears with you this past 12 months, Hope you have great and successful 2023. Good luck with the new house, give our love to your good wife & family. Keep the videos coming. ( HAPPY NEW YEAR) 🎆🎉🎊
The blocks are for cutting out different shapes. If you press on the black side there are sharp cutters. You put them thru a press with your material you want to cut.
Hey yo Mikey, just gotta say thanks for your great work over the year, and a happy new one. If anyone's reading this, I hope your SUBSCRIBED, Lets get Mikey to a MILLION, or else your wifi will be disconnected.
Mike, I would love to know what the long handled magnet with the release button is called, and who makes it. Regards from Australia. Great videos. Stay warm!!!!
Those pattern blocks must be for punching out shapes from either foam or cardboard. I'm just not sure for what purpose. They seem too small to be industrially useful. Happy New Year, everyone!
Thank you for entertaining me these last 3yrs stay safe out there🤘and a prosperous 2023 to you and your family from BIGMICK IN THE UK 🇬🇧 WITHOUT SNOW 🎅🤶🧑🎄
The pattern blocks or sometimes using schools projects they go on a machine and they punch out paper decals in the shape as the cutter the ones I seen has a rolling table as part of it I know that because I work in the school system great finds
Those wooden blocks are used a lot in schools. We would use them when cutting out either letter or shapes for bulletin boards and or to decorate smaller things. From what I remember they are pretty expensive.
we used those to cut paper templates for bulletin boards, or patterns, designs, signs, etc. There is a machine that presses the blocks to cut the designs into paper.
Those blocks are used by teachers to cut out different designs for bulletin boards and such. They are expensive! Can’t believe someone just threw them away.
Hi Mike, yes that was loud indeed, earphones out lol. Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy 2023! I haven't forgotten about you, still living in hospital with our youngest battling cancer so I haven't been watching or creating anything other than updates but I'm finally getting back round my favourites slowly, have been really missing you all! Stay safe and have a good one!!!
The wooden patterns are for a punch set. They are used for educational purposes mainly arts and crafts. Some with the geometric shapes are used in math class. There is a metal cutter within each block. When placed in the press, the foam compresses and the shapes are are punched.

The wood blocks are for cutting things like gaskets and rubber sheet on a " clicker" machine the foam ejects the material being cut
Are they worth anything as resale items?
Most libraries use those blocks to press out shapes for childrens programs. On a criscut machine.

I think those blocks are templates for BRAILLE lettering. I think the beads are glued onto the patterns to make direction signs for the blind.
