@11:54 Actually you are kinda wrong(i'm welcome to anyone who can factually correct me for what I am about say). The thing is this, this is at the beginning of a straight and we kinda don't know how long the entire straight is. Losing second gear here(due to his injury) = low torque during acceleration at low speed. When you are accelerating at low speed low gear situation, skipping gear REALLY DO stall the sh*t out of your acceleration. When you are at the beginning of a straight, horsepower DOES NOT matter when accelerating from from standstill or low speed, it is torque that matters. However, the torque from the engine itself IS NOWHERE near enough to accelerate a heavy ass car that weights 1 ton and above, hence you use a gear to multiply that torque through a gear reduction system. This is the basic theory of it. Lower gear reduces engine rotation speed to your wheel but it increases torque more, skipping 2nd gear means stalling your acceleration massively, resulting in his speed not being able to climb properly(as explained by okuyama in the episode, when you floor it really hard at 1st gear(at maxed out RPM, which is a point equivalent to maximum speed allowed by first gear(let's say for kanata's 86 its around 80 km/h first gear at 8000 RPM)), you skip 2nd gear and going straight to 3rd gear, the RPM drops massively(based on what okuyama said to 3000 RPM), this is because 3rd gear 3000 RPM is giving you 80 km/h, which is the equivalent of 1st gear 8000 RPM. If he didn't lose 2nd gear, his RPM would likely only drop to 5000 RPM-ish, which is still well within the effective torque curve of the GT86's engine. So in reality, losing second gear was the reason why he literally got overtaken right from the get go. If it was in the middle of a long straight then yes, what you said is correct, but what you said does not get applied here, horsepower isn't literally everything even in a straight line, effective torque curve and proper gearing matters the most at the start of an acceleration battle.
The only theory why kanata might not be able to do lightning fast shits that I can come up with is that the gt86’s gearbox assembly (clutch, flywheel, pressure plate etc) is Stock and with the turbo comes increased torque and aggressive shifts for an extended period of time can cause damage due to the increased torque. But isn’t that an upgrade that should come with the turbo upgrade as well?🤨
there's an episode in initial D where single turbo vs twin turbo, tldr single turbo loses speed a lot faster than twin after breaking, just my thoughts ruclips.net/video/5x3AI4RJgzs/видео.htmlsi=a77qbiEaqnQejbNH&t=292
Its a case of if he over exerts his elbow by shifting to second it could become a major injury thats why he can't quick shift, quick shifting takes alot of muscle contraction then expansion that could damage his joint
Hey Myogi. Even though the gt86 is the hero car of the series, i still wish he took Ogata's offer to find a mk5 Supra. Because with that chassis, he can do this sorta lap time: ruclips.net/video/bXYh4bPtZlo/видео.htmlsi=nYIgFAid5LOW7fRl
Im pretty sure by obvious it is stated thay how determined kanata is he probably held it in a faked through the briefing and the problem is not the clucth movement, the problem is that his elbow is sprained and can cause higher damage to his joint due to the rapid expansion and contraction of his muscles for quick shifts, even if he does it slowly his revs will go down to far thus its safer to skip into 3rd gear which is safer for the engine cause to slow shift into 2nd to not damage the elbow and keep revs up would require flat foot shifting which tye 86 is not programmed to do thus could damage the engine, trans, or turbo. I know as i have raced manual and had a similar issue with my elbow as well and luckily i had a weighted ball and adjustable shiftee so i adjusted it to need minimal movement just a flick of the wrist but still dangerous if i miss shift due to short travel
Unsure why the season has to end mid-race. They fr needa stop following the source material so closely cus it kinda SUCKS in a lot of areas. This anime is getting studio funding to have an entire production done, and it honestly has an appealing concept even outside of the core Initial D stuff but the Manga is kinda written horribly and is heavily weighing down the work of the VA, Animators, SFX etc. A lot of the material shown could work even the non-racing plots IF it was written better and not like an afterthought.
I can't be the only one complaining about the slow pace of this anime. I mean we got just 2 full races and 1 lap of race 3 within 24 episodes!? That's way too slow, man. Also, what's the point of having this many drivers entering the season after having skipped the first one or two?? It would have made so much more sense to do something like this: Show us the first 2 races detailed, then fast forward race three and four with something interesting happening in the final race. Beckenbauer wins the championship but Sawatari and Kanata get closer and closer to him..and then on season 2 we get to see Moroboshi debut. I also don't see the point of focusing much on qualy laps. Points are made in the race, it's not really that crucial to see all these drivers in action on qualifying a part from Kanata, Moroboshi and maybe Michael.
Next year will be interesting season 3 possibly
26:16 It’s a subtitle error on Crunchyroll. Yanagida’s M4 makes 500 hp.
Crunchyroll gets a 30-second penalty for a mistaken sub

@@limnbakpoplolyihong8979 thanks for the detailed and thorough explanation regarding horsepower and torque
29:19 i think Kanata father getting on emergency room or not

When Kanata removed Nozomi's amulet, I was so pissed off...
quit simping for anime girls lmao
The subs on the site i watched the ep on said the bmw has 500 hp

Merry Christmas
I wish the last episode lasted an hour but nope it's not like the movies.
The last Nozomi waistline on this season.
I'm a pretty sure the ending was a preview to the 3rd season.

God damn it.
Season 3 October 2025!
Man this round sucks in the plot-armor aspect-coming from a manga reader.
