The history of Ken block is he started his professional career as a pro snowboarder, then he was the creater and founder of one of the best skateboarding and snowboarding shoes and apparel company know as DC shoes. Then he decided to become a pro rally car racer and was one of the most successful rally racers of all time. In the process of all this, he decided to create a company called hoonigan racing and started the gymkhana video series. Witch is what you are watching. He tragically passed away from a snowmobile accident riding in the backcountry of Utah when he ended up falling and his snowmobile landed on him witch pinned him under the snow, where he passed away from suffercation . He is and always will be a legend in motorsports history. Now his daughter is walking in his footsteps to help keep his legacy alive. RIP "forever Ken block"
Love Ken, but he wasn’t a great rally driver, he was a fantastic driver and great showman and ambassador for racing, but he wasn’t successful in the WRC

Have you seen lia drive she us just as good as her father and is also at the Williams racing academy. I lived Ken's driving but Lia will keep and extended the block name in motorsport

I got to see him race in person at a rally event in Northern MI. He was such a fast driver. Incredible to see him do this stuff in the snow live from the edge of the road.
This is Pike's Peak here in Colorado. The Hill climb is a famous race where drivers go from the bottom to the top as fast as possible. Standard speed limit, it takes like 25 minutes to do the 19 mile, 7,400 foot incline drive. They force you to stop halfway to temp your brakes. If they're too hot (potentially fail) you have to pull over. My brakes are always ambient because of engine braking in a manual transmission vehicle. Brought my cousin up in early Julya few years ago and got 6 inches of snow from the warm, sunny and dry bottom to the blizzardy top.
You Guys Have To Watch The First Video When This Mustang Appears To Understand It More. It Takes Place In The Streets Of Los Angeles. Can't Wait For That Reaction.!!!
Thank you. Patiently awaiting more Ken Block gymkhana reactions. One of his earlier ones is in a modified 06 or 07 STi. (around 575hp. More attainable build.) Very good as well.

I live right next to this mountain. There's a race there every year. It's legendary for drivers, I'm so happy he did pikes peak for one of these videos.
That was a park ranger checking the temperature of the brakes. When you come down from the mountain top they have you stop there, check the temperature of your brakes. If your brakes are to hot they have you pull over by the souvenir shop and little cafe to let your brakes cool down before you continue down the mountain..
A note about 3:25 for those who haven't been to Pike's Peak. That Ranger Station is a checkpoint for vehicles coming down the hill - rangers check your brake rotor temp for safety. If your brakes are too hot, they make you pull off to the side for a bit to cool down. When I was there on a motorcycle trip in 2010, there was a small refreshment stand to get something to eat or drink while you wait. It's a joke that they are checking Ken's brake temp here. Do check out recent videos of his daughter Lia coming up in all styles of motorsports.

Pikes peak. 14 thousand feet and change tall. The last time I went up the entire route was gravel above the visitors center at about the halfway point. It seems to be paved the entire way now.
@BornRandy62 Pike Peak was paved because of claims of environmentl and wildlife issues because of the gravel. I remember visiting my parents in Colorado Springs in the early 2000's and the project to start paving Pikes Peak had just started, and I think it took about a decade to complete.

The coolest part of this video is how there's less and less smoke coming out of the exhaust the higher in altitude he goes. My guess is that they had to change the tune throughout filming so that the air/fuel mixture was correct for every part of the track.
Not just one of the best drivers in the USA but one of the best drivers in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Snowmobile accident that sadly took the life of the greatest driver of all time!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY VERY SAD DAY when I found out he passed away and millions of very upset fans, Very sad!!!!!
In my uneducated opinion, the greatest to have ever driven a car. His feel for every car and under all conditions is unmatched. Just up this road in this video is dramatic changes in the air, causing major changes in the car's performance, and not just in the car but the driver too. It is roughly a 2,256m elevation change from the bottom to the top of the road, ending at an elevation of 4,302m. At that elevation, breathing is labored due to the lack of oxygen, & the temperatures are 10's of degrees colder than at the bottom. RIP
The Pike's Peak Climb is quite famous. The road up the hill is every bit as treacherous as it appears. It is a public road which I have driven more than once (at posted speed limits, which are quite slow). For an average driver, it is quite intimidating. Lots of blind turns, no guardrails, chance encounters with bighorn sheep which live and graze at high elevation, etc. Because the air is so thin (you notice, the vegetation disappears suddenly - that's called the "treeline" at about 3300m/11,000 feet above sea level), the performance of internal combustion engines degrades quickly. And obviously, the thin atmosphere impacts the driver, as well. The stop at the ranger kiosk was a temperature check of the brakes. If any system is critical on Pike's Peak, it is the ability to stop.

If you look up another one, look for his earlier Gymkhana videos. Number 2 is one of my favorites, and 3 is nuts.
His daughter is continuing the heritage. She Joined F1 Academy this last year.
RIP
A little Ken history, he actually started Motorsport racing late into his 30s, which is crazy because most start as kids.
RIP Ken, you brought fun to motorsports.
RIP @Ken Block. He inspired to like drifting.
Gymkhana 7 in Los Angeles is the best one. It was the first iteration of the Mustang and is absolutely unbelievable.
Ken's 16 year-old daughter Lia Block inherited his cars.
Seems like she may stick with the family business as she was racing rally cars at age 11.
I can step out my front door, and see PIkes Peak about 35 miles to the West. Been up there a few times, although not since it was fully paved.
Everytime I think about his snowmobile accident I get flashbacks to Caleb Moore R.I.P
His memory lives on through his daughter Lia. An amazing girl.
