    Great detailed video...👍 but short more simplistic cut, you can easily access / remove both belts thru Right wheel area, removing side splash shield...
    Happy wrenching 🔧

    Much easier on my 2018 model 6 Touring to remove the passenger wheel well cover and access panel. The plastic clips are very easy to remove without damage. I used a small flathead with a small pry tool from my smartphone my. Once the center pin is popped up, it is easy to pull the clip out with your fingers. They can be easily reused this way.

    Good video. . Seen after putting new belt on one of these . . I didnt remove graund wire and used a jack from trunk of car since was dead in a parking lot from original belt snapping . . Only have to raise the engine to remove tension from the mount. . I didnt touch the jack again till finished . . Used a piece of wood on top of scissor jack head to not damage oil pan . . Main dislike is the use of 17mm socket and wrench that are rarely used on many cars

    What does the serpentine belt do? Could you drive it to the shop for repair without it?

    • @HomeownerRepair
      @HomeownerRepair  3 месяца назад

      One of the things that the serpentine belt does on this vehicle is help to spin the alternator to charge the battery. You may want to have it towed the repair shop if you are not performing this repair yourself, to avoid and further damage of components.

    I would recommend not supporting the engine from the oil pan. That can create a leak. Otherwise great video

    Is the length really 38.2? I cant get it on with tensioner all the way loose its like a 1/2" short

    • @HomeownerRepair
      @HomeownerRepair  2 года назад

      You may want to compare your new belt to the belt that came off of the vehicle to see if you received the correct belt.

      @@HomeownerRepair old belt is in heaven. Did end up getting it on, had to go through wheel well, got a long 17 wrench. Didnt have to take anything apart

    While your doing it as much of a pain in the butt it is, why not change both belts?,I would.

      Yes, If there is more than one serpentine belt on any vehicle and they are both old it is usually wise to replace them both so that the other one does not break on you.

    These guys do too much. That'll be 1500 doll hairs in labor for a 30 dollhair part.
    Edit: my belt broke as I was pulling into the driveway just 2 hours ago. Went to the auto store picked up a belt. It Literally took longer to buy the belt than to put the new belt on.

      Part price has nothing to do with labor price. While you're right in that in this video they did a little more than necessary.

    I have a 2015 Mazda 6, this seems more work than it's worth? Especially since you might damage parts getting it replaced.

    • @HomeownerRepair

      It's not that bad of a repair. It that belt is old and cracked it should be replaced.
