- This is the beginning of me taking my family from a double wide mobile home to our dream home on a large land. Working on different sources of income from affiliate marketing to stocks to crypto to reselling and wholesaling to see what works.
I’m usually all over the place but I’m going to find something that works and I’m bringing you along for the ride. Follow to see how we do it.

I confess I used to look down on trailer parks…until we went bankrupt in 2018, had to sell our 4 bedroom house and a modular home was all we could get with our now-terrible credit. We’re still here almost 5 years later. The home was decent and clean, our landlord was awesome and our neighbors were some of the kindest, most down to earth people I’ve ever met. We didn’t even speak to our former next door neighbors for 20 years. It was a huge lesson in humility that I greatly needed. We are planning to move later this year, but I would not rule out living in another mobile home community.
I hope you realize that you yourself ending up having to live there was your karma for looking down on people simply for the place they live and their income level. The amount of money someone has or where they live or grew up doesn't determine a person's worth as you surely see now, and as you have seen now anyone can go bankruptcy or lose their job or source of income. I hope you extend that humility towards homeless people as well and don't look down on them either.

Meanwhile, they own nothing. 🤷🏾♀️ Sure, they’ll say they own these things, but let em Miss a couple payments and it’s all taken away. When, in reality, they could live in a modest place in order to save money, purchase an older vehicle outright for a few grand, and not owed thousands to Credit Card companies.

A lot rent of 1000 a month? If that’s so that’s like renting a house 😂 you don’t pay the lot rent you gotta pack your house up and go? A lot rent of 1000 a month that’s 12k a year that’s more than most land tax in regular communities heck the person is living in a rural area it seems I’m sure they can find a place to rent for 1000 😂 imagine if you had to move your house I’m sure it’d cost a lot 😂
I've never lived in a trailer/manufactured home but have seen some beautiful ones. My parents' concerns were always because of fear of tornadoes, high winds, etc, teaching us those homes were less likely to survive severe weather. It was NEVER to shame others or think we were better than others. I am so thankful they taught us so much about being humble because you may feel you have a beautiful home, and others may feel they would NEVER live in your home or community. Be thankful for a decent roof over your head.
That was my fear. Tornadoes.
I guess it depends on the area certain areas don’t experience tornados like that and rarely any hurricanes
I was raised in a very nice triple wide..i thought we were rich when my dad surprised us with it! Coming from the hood apartments moving to the country with front and back yard and our own rooms...i had no idea people liked down on trailers.
I think most ppl think all mobile homes are those small, nasty looking trailer park trailers. I always thought that until I visited my cousin’s mother in law. I was shocked! Then years later my boyfriend’s mom lived in a neighborhood that had a lot of mobile homes. You had to pay attention to see which ones were regular homes and which ones were mobile homes.
My old manager told me when I die I'm going to a big trailer park in the sky. I knew people looked down on us because our trailer was rented and run down, but I own a great trailer now and I don't care if people look down on it because I have an acre of property and a home that I own completely. No one can take it away, unless I don't pay the taxes which is only a few hundred a year. We save so much money, and were so happy.
That was a great place to grow up better then APARTMENT like I grew up in wish I had lived in a nice Mobile Home

It’s because for some odd reason the “American dream” made people believe that you had to have expensive homes, lavish cars, and keeping up with the materialistic trends to be happy and ‘provide’ for your family. When in reality, they bought all of that to live in an HOA neighborhood where the community would rather stab you in the back then give you a cup a sugar. They look at mobile homes, they people, the families, and the community where there’s always children playing, always someone holding a cookout, everyone would attack an intruder for their fellow neighbor, families that are thriving, and people enjoying their life to the fullest. The reason people look down upon trailer parks is simply because their miserable and thought money could buy them happiness. They thought them buying their way would obtain them what trailer park communities have. While there are some slumlords that rent out decrepit trailers? Those are few in far between and often times those trailers are rented by people who genuinely can’t afford anything else and a trailer from the 70’s that’s roof is held together by reused plywood is the only thing they can afford - and that’s perfectly okay. Better that then homeless. Even those that live in those style of trailers have more heart, more personality, more genuine character than those I’ve met living in a mansion. However, trailer park communities are often times gorgeous with well manicured lawns, blooming flowers, amazing neighbors, and some communities you couldn’t even tell they are mobile homes.
I’d 100% rather live in a neighborhood of trailers if that met my neighbors looked out for me rather than the house I use own that was 2 levels with a finished basement, small ass yard, while it looked amazing, it left me struggling, with neighbors who felt entitled, were racist / judgmental, and couldn’t do anything fun without HOA giving me a fine. The working class or those choosing to live below their means are ALWAYSSSS far more humble than the rich.

Why do people feel that they have to justify the way they live? That looks like a beautiful and cozy home. You’re paying your bills and have a roof over your head. Be proud ! You’re doing it right .
Shout out to you whoever you are exactly I love to see these damn comments because honestly that is exactly how I feel I used to see them and thank gosh I want but honestly know it's ridiculous how people are so damn sensitive and we can't just say what we want to say? If it makes you happy and you like it then that's what you should do if not.. keep going right I don't know what happened I think that we've been asleep for a long time and finally people stragglers are slowly waking up

Genuinely I think it’s to inform people who have just never even thought of it. Education like this is the only way to empower the youth and change the culture

I had a trailer in North Carolina (purchased it brand new in 2007 and sold it in 2018 to move to Oregon to take care of my sick mother when my father passed away). It was a 5 bedroom home with a living room, family room, kitchen (or course), separate dining room, huge bay window in the living room, beautiful hardwood floors, laundry room, mud room, 2 full bathrooms and 1 half bathroom, a full sized deck running the length of the trailer, central air, a fireplace and a 3 car detached garage. 2 acres of property surrounded by woods which I owned so I didn't pay lot rent. No swimming pool or tennis courts. It was slightly in the country. 30 minutes from Raleigh. No neighbors jammed packed on top of each other. I paid $126,000 for it. No mortgage, no lot rent. My property taxes every year were about $1k.Now I live in Oregon in the HOUSE my mother and father purchased brand new in 2007 (no mortgage or anything). It's TINY!!!!!! 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, kitchen (of course 😂), separate dining room, living room, laundry room, 2 car attached garage, small backyard with privacy fence. Houses right on top of each other. You could barely fit a car in between each house. $320,000. My mother amd father have both passed, so the house is mine now. Which I am EXTREMELY grateful for. But the comparison for the cost is absolutely ridiculous. Trailers/mobile homes/whatever you want to call them, sadly get a bad rap. I mean, there are shitty trailers, and trailer parks. There are shitty houses and shitty neighborhoods. Not everything is nice. But my point is, trailers/mobile homes can be STUNNING!!!!!!!!!
I live right outside Raleigh in the apex/holly springs area. We bought a trailer and the lot A LONG TIME AGO, now 540 has bought half my neighborhood (not my half unfortunately 😂) and my property value has TRIPLED. What my trailer (we actually built on to it significantly so it’s no longer a ‘mobile home’) is worth now is what my sister paid for a brand new two story home in Clayton 15 years ago…. It’s crazy how things work. 🤷🏼♀️

@@kellygriffin8232 hi 👋🏻 it was so nice to read your comment. Are you planning on selling your place and moving? If you do, where would you move to? Around the same area? I have family that lives in Clayton and Smithfield. The family in Clayton bought their trailer and property (my father actually paid for everything flat out) YEARS ago (for DIRT CHEAP) , I'm talking like the late 80's, and built onto it so it's no longer considered a "mobile home". It was an absolute shit hole. Honestly, it still is 🤣 A LOT of things were done wrong. Wires left exposed, leaky roof, rotting floor, etc., that nobody every cared to fix. They kind of just walked around and/or over the problems. Farm outside and eventually chickens and a baby goat inside kind of shit. Tweaker/drug shit, but nobody did drugs (seriously). The home didn't start out shit hole. It could have been amazing had anyone actually cared about it.
Seeing both sides of the "trailer life", I can understand why trailers get a bad rap. Before the trailer in NC, I had never lived in a trailer. And honestly, never really knew anyone who did. The 2 houses that my mother, father and me ever lived in (well, after I was born) were 6 bedroom, 3 story houses. Then we moved to NC (Four Oaks, between 40/42 and Benson), and witnessed all kinds of the stereotypical "trailer trash". BUT, what we also witnessed, which sadly nobody ever talks about, were just as "trashy" houses. Not just in NC either. I've seen "trashy" houses all over the place. But for some reason it's the trailers/mobile homes that get called out. It sucks and it's sad.

And we e had to fix a lot of our problems as well, I guess trailers just fall apart quicker, that’s not to say either care and maintenance they can’t be nice homes though. And I don’t know where I’d move to, to be honest I have prime real estate right here in wake county so after I sold my property I don’t think I’d be able to afford to live here anymore lmao 🤣 but I’ve lived in the 40/42 area as well, that’s where my sister bought her property right off of Cleveland school rd. And it was nice talking to you as well.

I live on the outskirts of Raleigh everything is crazy expensive. Definitely not looking forward to the heat wave coming. A acer or two with a nice 2 bedroomw would be my dream but everything nice is so expensive now. @kellygriffin8232
Back in the day (👵🏻 here), we used to say: Home Is Where The Heart Lives! 🏡 ❤ Doesn’t really matter, as long as you’re with your own ❤️s, and you’re happy and safe.
I am grateful for those who have a safe clean place to stay.
I've seen people look down on trailers, but run to buy a tiny home that costs just as much as a large home. There are a lot of high-end trailer homes. A lot of trailers have more space than those expensive tiny homes too.
This is a big pet peeve of mine! They're the same people who claim to want to be "sustainable", but will spend $100,000+ on a brand new tiny home instead of just buying an already existing trailer and remodeling it- for less money! And it's all for status!

Question: do you know what the difference is between tiny homes, like the tiny homes that you can move, and trailers? I genuinely don’t know. Once it’s built into the ground isn’t it not a trailer anymore?

I don't think it's about the actual trailer home it's about equity. I remember I was so sad bc my husband and I found a manufactured home we loved but bc we were not settling there we couldn't buy it bc we were buying a home for equity purposes. It may build equity but not as well as typical home
When my dad left my mom, she got a trailer. Bought it with a loan my dads dad gave her. She paid him back. It’s a 4 bed 2 bath double wide. We dont have amenities, but its a good quiet neighborhood with a good school. I inherited it when my mom remarried and moved out. I Paid off the “mortgage” and now live mortgage free at 26. And have enough space and means to grow a family in the future. I am blessed

When I was a teenager I went to live with my grandparents because of some bad home life issues. They moved out of their regular home and got a trailer that was big enough for the three of us, but bought it UNFINISHED. I spent the summer before school started helping my uncle paint and lay down tile and hardwood flooring through the whole trailer and even built little covered deck/porches on the front and back of the house!!
By the time school started our house was finished, BEAUTIFUL because we did it exactly how we wanted it, and I even got paid a bit of cash for helping out for the summer! I LOOOOVED living in that little trailer and it changed my viewpoint on what makes a home. Trailers are so much cheaper and so cozy!!
Cozy is exactly why I'm leaving my 2 level home and getting a mobile home. Told my kids they can keep the 2 level home
The bad thing going on here on the southeast coast of Louisiana is that we took a direct hit from the eye of Hurricane Ida and it’s spin-off tornado 🌪️ in ‘21, and had what we thought was the best homeowner’s insurance, but we ended up with 80% black mold damage, $156K in structural damages, and a partially collapsed roof, with giant holes in it, and fallen trees on the house-which meant that we had rats, squirrels, raccoons, lizards, standing water, and ginormous roaches living in our house for so many years,but our insurance company offered us only $29K. After our lawsuit win, all of the insurance companies that write new policies (for mobile homes) bailed out down here! And homeowners insurance has increased 287%!! Nobody can afford homeowners insurance anymore down here, and since there’s only 1 company (Citizens) to write new policies, they can set their own rates sky high! The Louisiana Insurance Commissioner should know that with this situation as it is, that if and when another hurricane occurs, there will be thousands or more folks who will be homeless because of this insurance fiasco!! We just 8 weeks ago got to be able to return to normally living in our now-restored double wide, and we’re so thrilled to be back to normal in our home, but it had to be stripped down to the studs, and mold-treated, had major demolition done, and tree cutting, and several mobile homes in our neighborhood were completely picked up and turned upside down and reduced to kindling! We were blessed with being able (thank God) to have enough home left to rebuild, because there’s many people still living in FEMA or IdaSheltering mini campers! Please, Lord, help us all who have lost so much all over this country and world 🙏❤️🙏
I love mobile homes. I grew up in a traditional house in NY. My husband, and I, in our earlier 20s, bought a newly renovated double wide mobile home that’s on a foundation. We got it on our own land, 2 acres so we don't live a mobile home park and there's no lot rent. And our monthly mortgage is only $558 usually for 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and the 2 acres. Both us and our son live here. We’re grateful to God for it. 🙏😊

Yes...would be great to know what state you settled in as rules/laws pertaining to mobile home parks vary by state. You were very smart to make sure *to buy your own land*! There are some really nice mobile home manufacturers offering some great features like wood burning fireplaces, vaulted ceilings & some high end bathrooms. But no matter how beautiful the home itself might be, it is completely negated by living in mobile home parks who can raise lot rents at anytime by any amount. Besides, much more privacy on your own land & much of the cost can be written off on your annual taxes.

Our mortgage is $525 on an 8 year plan. We bought it from a public owner that didn’t wanting to rent anymore. Life is good when you don’t let people judgement rule your life.

I grew up in a manufactured home in the 90s. Kids at school would tease and say “oh you live in a trailer” but my house was easily twice the size of most of my friends. And you could run from one end to the other in a straight line lol.
My bff and a few other friends lived in trailer parks in the 90’s. Going to their house was the best!! Nobody locked their door and we were welcome to walk into any friend’s house at all hours. We just ran the park from one friends to the other. Swam in the park pool every day. Nobody made fun of anyone for living in the trailer park. All the kids from rich down to not having much hung out together and had fun! Nobody wanted to go the rich friends houses though. They were boring. 😂😂

I grew up in a double wide. My parents did a lot to customize it and make it nice and we had an awesome yard to play in. There is nothing wrong with providing your children a safe home to grow up in.

A house(stick built or not), is the structure. A home is what & with whom u make it! It doesn't matter if it is all you can afford or (like the video) someome chooses this housing so their other funds can go 2 other things...children, trips/vacations, and/or other properties. Making it ur own & providing a safe dwelling for u & ur family is all that matters, ESPECIALLY IF NO1 ELSE IS PAYING YOUR BILLS!!!❤
Right on! Home is where and what you make it filled with your favorite people and in my case pets as well. Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to share it with is family. Having both is a blessing.

There is a triple wide mobile right behind a convenient store and they had trees put in and bushes and it’s gorgeous. It sits on probably 2-3 acres and is fenced! I love it!

I don’t think triple wides are super common, the mobile home park I grew up in didn’t have lots that size. I thought my friends with double wides were SO fancy. 😂 We had a single wide where my bedroom was so small that the only way to fit my bed in required my dad to remove my closet door because it wouldn’t open all the way. 🤦🏻♀️😂

I own my own home now, but believe me when I say that I'd give EVERYTHING I own to go back to those days. They were the best years of my life!

Trailer, tiny home, single family, apartment, cabin , condo etc. can we normalize being grateful and appreciative because someone is sleeping in a box in pee pee and fecal matter, no hope , possibly picking up addictions they never imagined doing but so hopeless , trash infested and rat infested streets , extreme weather, no clothes or fresh clothes, shoes, and in all sorts of unhealthy and hygienic condition and HOPING and PRAYING for a chance one day to live in something as awesome as this !

Bought my first home at 26 as a mobile. It’s on an acre and a 1/2 of open rural land. It was brand new , bought it for 165,000. It’s literally all I need. I’m so happy

This looks nicer on the inside than a lot of places you'd find in suburbia. It's all about making a home. I love this, and would live here in a heartbeat.

I haven’t judged trailers since I was a child and didn’t understand the struggle required and value that comes with owning/renting and maintaining a home. When I became homeless at 18 I learned very quickly that trailers are luxury to many, and a very nice home if treated with love and dignity. I live in a loft that’s smaller than a trailer now and am truly thankful and blessed. And would be overjoyed to have a home of my own! Preferably a trailer to start so I can focus funds on land 🙌🏾

See on your own land, I can completely agree living in a mobile home is worth it. But in a mobile home community sitting on a lot you don’t own, that can be sold if the owner wants to or decides he no longer wants mobile homes on his property than I see why it’s absolutely not worth it.
@yadirab.c.615 I agree with that, there's usually a bunch of lot fees as well associated.. which I get like the original post has nice amenities included in the cost..however I know of a few parks where they charge a ton, have lots of rules but don't keep up with the property. Etc. I guess the up side is (with some) you can just pick them up and go 🤣 though, most it would be super hard to do so.. it is possible!
My husband and I bought a double wide on a 3/4 acre. We have a huge front and back yard. We’ll own it in 5 years. I will not struggle for 30+ years just because of a foundation. I will have this house paid off by the time I’m 30 and never have another house payment ever

My parents just moved to a 55+ mobile home community in Florida and their home is 1800sqft with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and THREE sunrooms with beautiful pond views! They paid $40,000 for the home itself and the lot rent and maintenance fees for the community are $800/month. All in all they are paying under $1500/month with a 10 year mortgage. Their community has so much for them including an art studio with pottery wheels and kilns! My mom loves to paint and I know she's going to love to learn new arts and crafts too. They are so happy there!
That's all well and good but they need to have a hurricane plan. Trailers just aren't built for them.
It’s a great alternative. I’m sure they will be comfortable for a long time. And for those that pay it in full, imagine how great it is to pay so much lower than the rest of the people in that city.

Usually, from what I heard by my mom 10 years ago, is that you have to have to have the trailers / houses facing the same way as the wind from hurricane
I think a lot of people associate trailers with trashy because of experiences like I had, roach infested, drama, trauma filled parks.
This is beautiful, and people should remember home is what you make of it, and this space is amazing

It’s not even necessarily people’s own experiences with trailers, it’s the general association with trailers because of movies and tv. The trashiest and poorest people are always portrayed as living in trailer parks and they’re always just a notch above being homeless. I love _My Name is Earl_ but it’s a perfect example of this stereotype. Even _Roseanne,_ which was all about a working class family going through real struggles, had a whole episode where much of the humor was centered on Becky and Mark moving into a trailer park.
I know people personally that grew up in the projects or in run down apartments in bad neighborhoods. Yet they _still_ have the audacity to act like trailers are beneath them because the stereotypes of trailer homes and the people that live in them are so bad. It’s crazy.

As someone who grew up in a shed trailer... trailers NOW are built better than the new houses now. Its wild. Same materials and everything. Only difference is the concrete slab and the "status" you get with a house VS a trailer/modular home. We bought a new house last year and still think we should have gotten a trailer for 100k LES with the same quality.
This is false. Modular homes are the same as traditional builds minus being made on site. Manufactured and mobile homes are not even the same, but mostly the same.

Mobile homes built today are of a better quality than a mobile home from 1980.
But you're doing better getting a stick built home any day. It's not about status or class.
It's about safety. If you're riding out a tornado in a trailer, just make sure your life insurance is current.
But you're building equity and can leave something to your kids. You get no perks from owning a mobile home other than the lower cost. In that case you should definitely follow that ladies advice and invest the savings.

I've always loved a nice looking trailer.
My partner and I bought a 49sqm prefab home last year as the loan repayment ended up being cheaper than the average rent in the town we live. It was the only way we could continue to live near our families and we are so glad we made the choice we did. A home is a home. How blessed we are to even have that ❤

My first home at 19 was a trailer. I had a garden bathtub and a fireplace- I felt like I was a queen lol
The neighbors were all elderly and quiet, kept their yards neat and beautiful. It was awesome.

We have been living in a mobile home /single home /triller house for more than 20 years ( We couldn’t afford to purchase a “regular home “) Because of that important decision that we took then, I was able to spend time with my son taking him to his school classes , tennis, music, art, dance practices, And obviously driving him to his friends house so he can have a good social life, My son is now in San Diego State University!! As you said in your video education has always been our priority not to have a big house with a enormous mortgage payment, When we move into this small place I decided that I was going to make it work by keeping it nice clean and beautiful, It was the best decision ever!!

Y’all the problem isn’t the prefab/modular homes themselves, it’s that they don’t hold value like traditional homes. There are obvious counterpoints to this (e.g. paying off a prefab mortgage quickly means the ability to save/financial freedom, realistically people saddles with significant debt might not be able to enter the traditional home market anyway so might as well live in a decent place anyway) but boomers were raised to believe their home’s value was their nest egg for retirement. Normalizing these reasonable options instead of converting a windowless white van into some mobile apartment is important, so good on you for sharing this lovely home!!
Depends on where it's located. I live in a mobile home on a residential street in Southern California. We originally paid $65k in 2010 when we first bought it, and now it's worth over 300k. They definitely do hold value like traditional homes!

I started life in a trailer home and was fortunate enough to have a family that was able to get a larger home, but that trailer was exactly what we needed and with love and care lasted us until we needed to grow. Never fear a trailer home! People in these communities are lovely.
I grew in Illinois. Trailers, Modular homes were the norm. While I didn’t grow up in one, I had family who did and still do. There was a family who had a double-wide, dropped it and bricked the outside. If you didn’t know them, you wouldn’t know it was a trailer. Still cheaper than a house today with some, if not better. Only drawback was you could hear my cousins running around and yelling if you were outside of theirs. I would still buy one today.

I been saying this about these new trailers. My mind was changed in 2000 when I met the in-laws family. I stayed in a 4 bedroom 4 bath trailer that had a huge eat in kitchen with a huge family room. And don't het me started on the 2 level trailers it truly changef my mindset people. Just research for yourself, you will be amazed.

I’ve just bought into a trailer/cabin park and it’s the best thing I ever did. People are chilled, everyone is friendly but not snoopy and I don’t have to work anymore because it was below my means. There’s no other place I’d rather be.

It depends. I've done electrical work in a few and won't ever again. The wall studs are smaller, thin drywall, cheap everything. I can't tell from these pictures how these homes are but I'll never trust em. Plus it's a depreciating item
@@26longlongtime well, the majority of my family members left NY & moved to Virginia on our own family land. There are only two homes on that land that are stick built houses & about 8+ mobile homes & I promise you, neither one of my family members who live in the mobile homes has had much work or if any on their home like the two stick built homes. Both stick built homes had to had major work done on their house compare to any of the mobile homes. One of the stick built homes had to get their whole floors re-done after a month of moving in & the list goes on, on both stick built house, these stick built houses are built with cheap materials that sits out in all types of weather for just little over a year just ruining the materials even more. The oldest mobile home on that land is my aunt's house which is about 40+ years old if you were to see a picture of that house it would put the two stick built home to shame no lie! The house is beautiful with all the add ons that has been add on. From my experience over the years at almost 60 years of age whenever I do decide to move south the mobile will be the same route that I will take as well....
Only difference is as a mobile home “owner” you’ll always pay rent, not a good investment always a house 🏡
If only houses were built better. These days u gotta worry about shotty work, construction workers peeing in cups and u later find it behind the walls of these 400+ homes. At least it takes months to build mobile homes than a whole house built in less than a month.😊

Honestly when my husband and I thought buying the family farm was going to be too far beyond our means, we were looking at land and a mobile home. They're so luxurious nowadays!! His uncle straight up has a walk in pantry. And if they want to upgrade in a few years, they can build into it far easier!

Trailer trash is a lifestyle, not a location. Trust me: ex-family of mine was the definition of trailer trash, with a slitheringly short rap sheet due to the number of favors she performed so her drug habits were just ... _overlooked._ However, my best friend and her husband started out in his grandpa's trailer, which was dated but kept clean and nice. They're two of the greatest people you'd ever wanna meet.
Trailer trash is a title that is earned by criminal and/or unethical choices.
Incidentally that ex-family I mentioned? She was still trailer trash in a two-story brick home, too. As I said: it's a lifestyle, not a location or economic status.

Trailers are absolutely slept on and judged! I wish I wasn't so young and naive and would have started out in one when my kids were small.

It depends on the mobile home, I lived in one that were like 5 ft apart from the neighbors, if they got bugs we got bugs, when their house caught on fire so did ours, luckily we didn’t lose our house. We also didn’t have that much room like in the pictures, no ac, and because of the materials they are built from all the mobile homes had problems. I knew a couple people from different parks and they had the same thing happen
I grew up in a single wide and we were very lucky to have been in a place where the lots all had a little yard space, lots of communities don’t. 😭
