  • Injuries are the only reason why there's any changes for the 2nd Test in Auckland. It's as you were other than that for the match up between the All Blacks and England. Can England end a 30 year run without a win at Eden Park?

Slight correction. The ABs have not lost at Eden Park since 1994 (to France). But England have only beaten them once at the ground, in 1973 - 51 years ago this September.

Understand the comments re: Spencer vs Randall (in terms of continuity vs speed).
Really don't get the point of selecting F.Smith on the bench (instead of a 'utility back') - especially given Furbank or Slade could, at a push, cover 10 - and personally I think changing your 10 in a 'by the numbers' replacement causes more issues than it helps given the disruption

He had a good 6nations and was pretty good on the scrum (Lomax stepping out should have been stopped much earlier). He needs to be more consistent and it seems to me he lacks self believe, coz physically he has great attributes to be a great prop. Anyway I'm sure it will be a great game, NZ to win by 10.

England and the AB's both building, I get the sense that England need this more than the AB's. The NZ media are almost teeing the fans up to accept a narrow loss and England need a big scalp away to kick on. Look at what the win over Ireland did for the squad in the 6 Nations, with a 2-0 loss in NZ, I think a lot of that will be undone.

I think England still have a long way to go and considering they are now in transition for well over 14 months ABs two weeks it is very much time they stepped up to the mark because after this test you’ll find by autumn ABs will be well seasoned.

On Spencer, he was slowing the ball deliberately when in England's half to get the kick chase right. Unfortunately kicks slightly long and the chase very very slow. I think England need to think about how they can conserve energy and have more impact off the bench. I would not have Finn Smith on the bench as well have 10 cover from Furbank, we just need Spencer and a utility back/fullback cover maybe Steward. Freeman can play at 13 if needs be. Then we can have one fastish lock/flanker like Nick Isiekewe and go 6:2. We are really lucky with the backs we've got in England, probably just too many good choices making it hard to pick. I'm sure Borthwick will have all the issues from the first test addressed anyway but really felt like Spencer is getting unnecessary flack for having to play the way he did

Not sure I agree with our man Patrick, I think there are a number of teams that would have something to say about that. But NZ are at home and have their new coaching team and reputation to rebuild, I’m sure Razor has rallied them around their history and desire to get their aura back along with the #1 tag.

As a Bok fan, I totally agee that it was the game of the weekend. I think many of us Saffa fans are likely to be more supportive of England now that Owen Farrell is not in the team. He was easy to dislike and he came across as arrogant. Poms playing some good ruggers at the minute

I know I’m in for some grief here but, what does everyone see in Henry Slade that I don’t? Everyone bats on about how amazing he is and how much he controls things and offers an option. When was the last time that he was so amazing? What option does he offer? I’ve never seen him put in a MoM performance, he’s a yard too slow for international rugby and he can only offer an option if he’s played that way. I’m not saying he’s bad but, I’m not sure he’s the messiah that the media makes him out to be! Sorry Henry.

Interesting in the centres, I believe the best centre pairings play club together and maybe even more, Conrad and tana, then Nobu, Stanley, little. The combos take 100s of games together. Can’t just rely on test matches. I think reiko and Jordie are too similar, you need someone different. I think laumape/ Jessie kriel/ butch James type would be better with deception, bash and deceive combos are the best.

Tim, please read this. Fairly long comment. That's it. Just consider it. Thank you. I wrote this to a friend this morning and thought that I wanted to share some thoughts with you. Paste -I think this is Rassie getting Ireland out of the way. Then I think that maybe there will be 3 major changes coming to SAs backline, with Moody having his moments, alongside Fassi, to get real game time. More permantly though, these 3 incumbant starters may find themselves not even being in among the replacements. Not too many backline players on the bench. Handre will maybe get a bench in big match. Maybe. Faf and Willie may be done. Four 9s taken on WC tour, and Damien Willemse when he's back. Fassie didn't get Bok gametime because he isn't a very good player. It's nothing to do with his defence, even if there's room for improvement. He's the next best 15.
