if a video is titled "how to pan for gold in any river" I would expect that at the end you would show some gold..
however, since you didn't appear to get to the bottom of the crevice, position the sluice correctly, or clean the matting effectively, or pan out the cons properly, I'm not actually surprised at this result..

no wonder they didnt find any ..gold flakes are not that hard to find ,, but dont quit your day job thinking your going out with a shovel and a pan and strike it rich ,,when panning wash the top layer of drit off then shake it and wash . keep repeating untill you got just black sand , slow down now,, tilt it back towards you and swirl a little water over the black sand,, the gold should stay as the black sand washes off..,,you can practice with a few split shot sinkers and gravel and sand from your yard ,, most important . have fun

Yeah, I saw a lot of mistakes, too. But I applaud their use of a screen for the raw gravels. I use 2 screens, 1/2" and an 1/8". Thus all the concentrates are 1/8" minus in size. Then just pan it out. No need for a sluice unless you're camped for a long stay. And I use a method that I have never seen mentioned in 30 yrs of this hobby. Never in books, DVD's or ever spoken. It is the richest tactic I discovered myself, and have never shared it because it is Sooo rich.

I think that you're sluice was to low at the outflow and gold gets washed out.

I just found out that home owners do not own mineral rights on their properties in AZ.
Gold is 19 times heavier than water.
I am always surprised when people go on you-tube and demonstrate their lack of knowledge while not stating it outright. As a travel/ just trying something new video it is fine. As a how to- not so much.
BTW, if you ever want to impress real gold miners with something that is not to hard, but lost knowledge- you might look at my lesson 24 on improved hand panning of micro fine gold.

If you wish to make interesting videos, bring some one that handles the camcorder and keeps it steady. There is so much movement I was getting sea sick and I spent over 3 years on a Navy destroyer. It is hard to focus on what is being shown when three seconds later it is moved out of view.

Sorry I have to stop watching, that panning method is so wrong, you gotta get it under the water, and let the water take the top layer off like a wave, but you tried, Look for good panning video's online by Two Toes, or Doc from Gold Hog.

Hey Cecheto, I respect your honest opinion. Sad fact is that, yes you were honest, but lack any real hands on experience to show for so your "honesty" lacks any real credibilty. You rather tell tails and post names of buddy buddy stories. It is much different when you are out there in the field doing hands on work. I suggest you stick to or start up crypto mining. Please layoff on the gold.
Your a little aggressive with your panning. When you slosh it around like that out of the water there is a good chancw your losing any gold you might have. You need to be patient and keep shaking/working the top layer of material off under the water

Panning method was all wrong and took you about a year to get to the heavy sands. Watch some videos on panning methods by Jeff Williams or Doc. You chose a good spot to dig, I'll give you that and I think your brother was right about the water being to fast, probably lost a lot of flower gold which looks like all that hole had to offer. Also try to get deeper to the bed rock in those cracks don't just skim the top and quit after one bucket of material, you'll never find anything that way short of dumb luck.
Should have been titled, "How Not to find Gold in any River." Would have been a successful venture then. Thanks for sharing though.

I'd say this should have been titled "How NOT to pan for gold" let alone in Any River.
Anything trapped on that rock probably settled within the last 10 years MAX.
The panning technique is terrible. It was slow and inefficient, especially for so little known gold.
But there's nothing like getting out and giving it a try. Half the fun is just being out there. Gold is just a bonus at the end ... unless you have hit the mother load.

If you really do want to become pros in panning for gold, then you need to learn how to do it first. I would suggest you lot take along a real professional with you next time and learn how gold panning should be done, then make a video on the subject. In the end you did not find one speck of gold and this shows you lack of skill, I expect you lot were out there all day or more!

It's nice to see people making mistakes when gold panning. It shows that people don't start off perfect at it. Anyone who is a novice (like myself) are mostly more interested in honing our skills at panning, and gaining knowledge of the different weight and types of particulates, as opposed to getting gold each time...……...but then I guess you're perfect, which why I guess you feel the need to make such a snarky comment.
