i dont get why some folks are complaining. What shes saying makes sense. as easy as it sounds, turning is a bit harder than it looks , it really does take practice to get used to knowing how much you need to turn. * right turns especially. also , most new drivers ( including myself ) have a tendency to not loosen our grip on the wheel so it can go back to its position.
My issue driving is getting used to how quick everything happens and how quick you have to be with your reaction time. I’m a slower driver cause that’s what works for me right now. Once I get better I’ll learn to speed up
Thank you for all your videos. It helped me pass my test. I just passed today! I've been watching your videos countless times. Your video on changing lanes made me confident to change lane without any anxiety. You guys are great! God bless you!
Just turned 16 and I tried driving with my dad for the first time! Did good but I just struggled with turning because it was very weird, but watching this I have much more confidence
Man I’m doing good on my driving and speed and stops but I’m still working on my turns and I get nervous when I make a turns and thanks to this video I will have the confidence to turn better 👍🏼
I joined driving school few weeks ago, and I've noticed that am very poor in steering the car properly, but now with what I have learned am looking forward towards steering the car properly.
I'm 26 as well and going for my road test on friday! My mom never really taught me how to drive when I was younger because of my first right hand turn ever in a car didn't go as smooth as it should've. You've got this!!
Currently taking driving lessons. I was just excited to get behind the wheel after 7 years…I’ve never had a drivers license but have only practice drove a handful of times. With that said, being excited I realize that my instructor just has me driving and merging and just chilling in the car. He hasn’t taught me how to properly steer he just tells me when to turn. He has me drive out far so it eats up the time I have for my lessons. Hasn’t had me practice parking or anything. All that excitement I’ll be telling him today I want ti get what I paid for I have about 6 lessons I paid for and so far these past 2 are not it. He insists me for my next lesson to drive on the freeway but how can I do that when I haven’t drove on the road in years. Do I sound unreasonable to tell him if actually like lessons and practice “driving miss Daisy”. I really want to learn the basics as I have a child now so that is my reason for wanting to drive now as before I didn’t need to I worked from home and everything is literally down the street 2-3 minute walk. I watch these videos and try implementing them as I’ve drove both sessions for 2 hours at a time. To me, this helps but also made me realize my instructor; to me has not been instructing.
This will help me a lot, so far the only problems I've had with driving is braking, turning, and nervousness Just a lot of practice and ill be good to go :)
I just got my learners a few days ago and while deiving out of town on mostly empty dirt roads i thought i was so good but today i finally tried in town and realized how shitty i am at turning lol but this kinda helped i understand it more
My grandma is teaching me how to drive I drove on the highway 🛣️ for the first time today and I don’t understand why parents won’t teach their kids/teens how to drive you gotta learn how to drive because when you are all grown up you want to be independent and drive on your own
Experts at the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) now recommend 9 and 3 - on opposite sides of the wheel halfway up - as the ideal steering wheel hand placement. The 9 and 3 steering wheel hand position maintains good control over the wheel while reducing the risk of injury from the airbag.
I'm 25 and just started driving less than 2 months ago. I started driving through my neighborhood late at night when no ones out to get comfortable with the car. I did that almost every night for a month and now finally I'm driving on main streets (again only late at night lol) but it's getting much easier. I thought I'd never drive. Baby steps 🩷
I’m older and I have nervous issues because I failed to consistently practice and no one is helping me and I have to pay for driving instruction so I can get a license 😔🙏🏾
God bless you! Don’t feel discouraged. I’m 26 and barely got my permit. I had a lot of anxiety and now I set up my drivers test for October. I used to put myself down because I was older than my cousins and they all got a license 😅 but who cares. Nobody wants to teach us anyway. God’s got us 🙏❤️ we will persevere!!!
tbh for any new drivers turning is probably the easiest thing you can do while driving, hell I can turn with my pinkie finger nail. basically all you have to do is remain in your lane, or wait for the other vehicle to clear the other lane if you're uncomfortable. the key is focusing on the front of your car while you execute the turn. as long as you watch that and learn the turn radius of your vehicle you'll be fine. This video over complicates things by at least 3000% and I have been driving now for almost a decade (2016) and fixing to start the police academy i hope i can teach others a way better than this. remember newer cars only get easier to turn and yes I promise once yall get better you will be turning with your pinkie nail as well. but if this helps you thats good as well. (if you start with an suv as your learner car like me you'll pretty much know how to drive any car or truck)
My instructor taught us 9 to 3 on the steering wheel but my step dad keeps yelling at me to keep my hands on 10 to 2. Driving like that is uncomfortable and gives me anxiety so I’ve been messing up. Edit: And the position he’s been telling me to put my hands seems more like a 11 to 1 position.
Listen to that driver instructor love. You can start gradually getting to that other position your step dad advising once YOU are more comfortable with driving. I’m sure he’s stating that because he’s been driving already so the feel is natural to him. Once you become more comfortable I think your body will naturally adjust and relax to the point you won’t even realize you holding it from a 9-3 to a 10-2 .. just like him. At the end of that day, he needs to be patient & understanding of what works and is comfortable for you. You got this ❤️
It’s four times of me driving it’s very easy just use the side mirrors especially the side mirror where cars overtake from as you focus on the front u will feel superior
This is a great question. I turn very slowly, and a car was speeding down a very narrow road and I thought I was going to have a catastrophic event yesterday. God was seriously protecting me.
My problem is how much to turn the wheel Instructors was say turn left or turn right Buy that don’t tell you how much soWhen turning how much must turn the wheel to right to go into a into 1 one way street and how much do I have to turn the wheel to go into a two way street 90 180 or 360 degrees can you make a video about this I can’t see this nowhere On you tube
I have my test in 7 hours, it sucks cause since I got my permit, I’ve been driving how ever I felt comfortable and still haven’t turned with 10/2 or 9/3 I’m afraid that is what’s gonna make me fail

As a new driver, this has been my biggest hurdle.
I am currently learning to drive and my instructor calls this recovery… I tend to grip to hard.. the instructor called them wooden hands 😂😂😂😂
Thought it was it's just me.
My instructor always gets on me about my “iron grip “ on the steering wheel 😳😂… I’m working on it 🚙

In my manual it says slow drivers are hazardous that gave me more push to drive the speed limit
I have this same issue while learning. There is so much to focus on at once. Instructors act like we've been driving for years.

That’s the same thing that happened to me today lol
Big facts
Same happens to me yesterday. I'm a beginner driver too and turning my wheel is my struggle 😢
That’s crazy, I’m 16 and I ran like 3 curbs (2 the first time and 1 later on) that were all right turns so that’s why I’m struggling with turns now 😭

You SHOULD insist that he teach you instead of just sitting there. He's not doing his job
That's a bad instructor. An instructor is suppose to teach you, not put you in situations where you're uncomfortable and feel unsafe.
How are you now?
This helps a lot more than my parents screaming at me stressing me out
This will help me a lot, so far the only problems I've had with driving is braking, turning, and nervousness

Take drivers Ed in high school or pay a driving instructor they have driving schools for this and they not expensive… you don’t need them you got this
Or just do what a buddy of mine did buy a car with taxes or college refund check & teach yourself with RUclips & practice
Great job on this ❤

Can you make a video for making turns in bad weather like dense fog or snow?
This is also an example of the secret to making perfect turns while driving. 🚗
2:00 never turn your car like this. If you hit something and the airbag goes off, it will break your arm and possibly injure your face
Awesome I have learnt something
The SECRET is TAKING YOUR TIME while giving yourself leverage…your foot is slightly on the gas. NO MATTER THE TURN You control the car.
Nice driving instructor thanks
You're welcome ☺️

so if I was turning i have to slightly let go of the brakes while turning the wheel right ?

Honestly isn’t as easy as you make it seem. The mechanic of turning is easy but gauging how much you need to turn at a given time is not😭
Turning is the hardest for most new drivers on this page myself included.
Nope. Most new drivers, including me, struggle with this. Two biggest issues...when to start the turn...and recovering the wheel.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
