This is Awesome. Glad you liked Mask of Light -- people remember that one. I liked Web of Shadows, but I missed the original Toa. The story for Legend Reborn disappointed me too -- what the heck was Makuta doing?!? To be fair, these movies are incredibly difficult to make -- and it took a huge crew of super talented folks to get anything like this completed.
Actually, he DOES have them, they were featured in a render on the movie's website, and you can just BARELY see them in the final fight with the Rahkshi.
Great video! in a perfect world, we would of gotten not only the first three films, but the ignition trilogy, the bara magna, dinosaur world and red star movies, then a bonus movie covering 2001 and 02/03, all done by the same team behind the original three. but alas, we don't have the technology to visit that dimension :c
We have Tohkann, even though his work is long and tedious... But it really does capture the same style we fans liked back then: www.youtube.com/@Tohkann
Excellent work, the rendered opening looked amazing and your sound design is incredibly polished! It's actually kinda more polished than the actual movies. If you look carefully, Matau is actually CLIPPING through the cliff he's hanging on to.
One must fully wonder, what Creative Capers would've done if they were approached to do 'The Legend Reborn' instead of the result we got. I'd likely imagine the Glatorian, Agori and Creatures being a carefully rendered inverted mix of the original toys from 2009, and the more Organic description we got of they by Greg Farshtey. Would've been much more interesting and fairly more great too if they were also based on the original prototypes!
Ive recently started rediscovering this franchise again, searching for summaries and reviews of the movie and bionicle media, and I can say this is one of the best Bionicle cinematic universe summaries ive watched, you deserve way more views, great video quality and production!
Well, I'll give you credit on actually taking the time to review the Legend Reborn. Most people stop at 3 because it requires actual lore research to get, which is too much for most of the hacks who cover these movies. Though I do have 3 lore notes: 1) Jaller's name is pronounced as "Jala," as was the original spelling before the Maori lawsuit. In canon, the spelling was changed, but the pronunciation remained the same for all of the participants of Naming Day. 2) Rahaga is actually a mixing of Rahkshi and Hagah, the Toa name of the Rahaga before they got mutated, and the name they returned to when they were finally restored to their proper form. 3) This is admitably a bit headcanon-y, but Makuta's goal wasn't for the Matoran to never awaken Mata Nui. He just needed Mata Nui to get close enough to death so he could slip in before Matoro could save the Great Spirit's life. Though since this process took 1,000 years, it might actually explain a LOT of LoMN's plot, if you think about it.
I remember watching the very first Bionicle movie on DVD a bunch of times and i always loved it and yeah, Legend Reborn is not that good like the rest of the movies but at least the songs they had was really good
Eyy, nice video discussing these bizarre Direct-to-DVD films... I sure hope Bionicle can get a show or film series someday that better follows the tone and story of the original saga. Who knows?
Define original saga? You mean just the first years? Or the whole story (2001-2010)? I think both are important for us to get. I think BIONICLE G1's universe is one of the most versatile, deep and amazing fiction universes there are. Greatest lore ideas of all time. Not the best execution with most of the actual telling of the story, but all the ideas there are practially brilliant. I think it still has a lot of potential, even to go into more dark, deeper, mature places. Not saying grimdark - that term is cringe anyway. But actually showing the deaths instead of limiting them to just the book descriptions would be awesome. BIONICLE G1 is a golden gooze media/fiction franchise in the hands of anyone but LEGO's these days I feel.
ruclips.net/video/T9aooPj2Ko8/видео.html Gotta agree with ya there Mate; Another thing we can disagree on is the way the characters and creatures are portrayed, exactly the same way as the original toys from 2009. It does however make me wonder further how the original team behind the trilogy could've done it a step further, but not too far... In fact, I'd be surprised if such renders were based on this AFOL's Particular Mods: ruclips.net/p/PLxo4wseRbUXbS5a5EW1UQnLY1f1hqvpSq Less toy-accurate and basic-looking to more blended like the Toa and Matoran, but inverted slightly.

I remember the bionicle story. I’ve loved it for so long.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
After all these years, I'm STILL mad that Onua doesn't have his Chainsaw Swords

Couldn’t find time to mention it in the video, but there’s actually quite a bit of clipping going on if you look closely! Especially in Mask of Light

The production value is through the roof! Nice video, they really did pull off an mcu before the mcu..
Thank so much! Right back atcha. Love that video you did on Ratchet & Clank music
