  • The Beatles live at Wembley in 1965. Songs are "I Feel Fine" and "She's A Woman". Notable because they are wearing the famous Shea Stadium jackets, and because John is playing his Gibson J-160 Acoustic, which I never saw him play but in movies - and this is very LIVE! Enjoy!

    I'm glad I was around to have witnessed Beatlemania. After JFK we needed the sheer joy they brought us youngsters then. I'm glad to see new generations enjoying and loving the Beatles just as we did. They have changed the world in many ways from their music. They have stood the test of time. In any era they will always be the greatest.

      Agree. And the Vietnam War. And by the time the White Album came out JFK's brother also killed... And MLK. The Beatles were the constant bright spot in an otherwise dark decade. Grateful they were there for me age 5 - 15, the sixties. Also grateful for everything they did for music that's still around for all of us for all the rest of the decades. They are still the bright spot of any day I see or hear them. RIP John and George.

      @@Atlantis1789 such a great time to have witnessed. I know the Boomers are getting older and I already retired yet I'm thrilled at seeing new generations loving the Beatles. The impact of their music touched us in every possible way. I had the Beatles hair cut, the Beatles boots, and many Beatles records which I still have to this day. I cherished them and my Beatles trading cards. The thrill for a kid opening them was wonderful, then came the color cards. I saved everything Beatles. I was fortunate enough to have seen at least 3 of the 4 Beatles play in concert. My parents wouldn't allow me to go into downtown Chicago by train as we were half hour away. I can't begin to say how much John Lennon has shaped my views in life today. I loved all the Beatles and thought Ringo to be so cool and loved Hard Days night but John was the one who would take a stance on various issues especially condemning War. What an incredible band they always will be!

    I remember this concert, and I remember seeing them on The Ed Sullivan show!! I also remember Beatles trading cards, like baseball cards but with the Beatles pictures on them! Every time the Beatles would release a single, we would ride our bicycles down to Woolworths and buy the 45 and rush home and play it on our photograph! And then we'd play it again, and then we'd play it again, and then we'd play it again and you never got tired of it. That Christmas, my parents bought me some Beatles bobble-head dolls! Unfortunately I have lost them through the years, but imagine what they would be worth today! When we all got Beatles haircut,the principal of our school in New Jersey sent us home with notes to our parents telling them to make sure we got our hair cut so we looked like normal god-fearing Young Americans he said! Imagine trying to get away with that in this day & age! It was a magic time filled with wonderful, awesome music! It was a time I will always cherish and never forget! Thank you John, thank you Paul, thank you George, thank you Ringo thank you Beatles!!

    It's worth mentioning I posted this video here fully over eleven years ago. The comments are still coming in and the views continue to grow. More than ever, actually. 10 years ago I mentioned the 2009 remasters, next month the 50th anniversary editions of Abbey Road are being released. Ever notice the music never ages? Last month I saw Paul McCartney live and he opened with "A Hard Day's Night." I was 8 when that came out and I finally saw him play it live, "When I'm 64!" That's the thing. Their music just never gets old. In fact, I'm positive it what keeps us all young! It's still exciting! See the link below from the "Freshen Up" Tour in San Jose on July 10th, 2019.

    What I would write if I had but a grain of the Beatles genius :
    The Very Good Night (Tribute to the Beatles)
    Followed you very secretly deep in the night
    Till you got home and I lost you out of my sight
    Creaked the door, twenty steps - and the light in the frame
    All I have is to stand here and whisper your name
    So I wish you the very good night
    Till the dawn breaks and makes me all right
    Wrong are they who consider that love is but pain
    As this evening I hope I will see you again
    Birds are sad when the smile disappear off your face
    Distant look of your eyes is the top of the grace
    I would bring you the sky and the stars and the moon
    If you told me that you would be mine pretty soon
    So I wish you the very good night
    Till the dawn breaks and makes me all right
    Wrong are they who consider that love is but pain
    As this evening I hope I will see you again

    Being an acoustic guitarist with a Gibson much similar to John's, I can't imagine playing the riff to "I Feel Fine" on an acoustic! And keeping it going for the duration of the song. Those are full neck chord positions, not easy on the fingers. I have trouble doing it on an electric! Well, maybe that's why John is my guitar hero!

    • @bhpersonal
      @bhpersonal  5 лет назад +11

      Yeah, agree. I have the Epiphone J-160E John Lennon signature model. They are hard to play bar chords, with the notes picked out, not strummed. It's a lead guitar part, not rhythm. Listen to All My Loving. John played rhythm chords while in 16th note rhythm throughout the song. So his right hand was developed, too. Underrated as a guitar player probably because he was such a great writer and singer. Triple threat for sure.

    • @marktoohey7046
      @marktoohey7046 5 лет назад +8

      @@bhpersonal Yeah, agree. John was a much underrated guitarist. Back in the day, we all presumed that George played the lead parts because he was the "lead guitarist." Phoooy! Just listen to "I Want You, She's So Heavy," or "I'm So Tired," or any other Lennon tune on the White Album; or "Don't Let Me Down." That is pure raw, gutsy rock and roll, with John on the Epiphone! George was very stylistic in crafting a solo or filler riff (he was great with those "throw away riffs" like in "She Loves You" and "Help," but John was the rock and roll soul of the band. I can only drool over your Epiphone J-160E, but if you will indulge me, I have my own bragging to do. I recently acquired a vintage 1962 Chet Atkins model Gretsch Country Gentleman and a VOX AC30C2 amp. Being a Beatles purist, I had to have the guitar and amp I have wanted all my life; the exact replica of what George used to play. And the bar chords are far more easier than on the Gibson J-50!

      @@marktoohey7046 incorrect. George still did most of his leads. Don't let me down is George. There is no lead on I'm so tired. I feel fine John does play the riff on a Gibson arch top. I don't know if there were electric stings or acoustic strings. George also plays the riff on electric then he plays the lead break. Even on the white album George plays most of the leads.In fact he always plays some type of lead but not always the main lead

    Did anyone notice that George nearly went into the guitar solo by accident at the end? This shows they simply can't hear a thing, on stage monitors weren't invented yet. I felt sorry for Ringo, he said he couldn't play any fancy drum kicks cos it just went into nothing, he just had to keep the beat going or the song would fall apart.

      There is a video somewhere where the mic kept swinging away from Paul the entire performance. Someone didn't tighten it, so Paul was singing, playing bass, and constantly swiveling the mic back to face him instead of a wall to his right.

    Paul sounds a little hoarse on She's A Woman. And the sound equipment is pathetic. Yet what is extraordinary about this video is that in spite of the various technical flaws how nonetheless they can still "bring it" to the fans. One more thing: nowadays, in retrospect, one might believe that the success of the Beatles was inevitable, "destined", but here I am seeing how hard the Four worked for the audience. They took nothing for granted and played at 101% for their fans. And one more "one more thing", I like this performance also on account of its technical flaws--that's what Live Performance": no do-overs, fix what you can while playing so---what happens is what happens. No fancy technology to save you. Just talent, charisma, and hard hard work.

    • @LaMYsteriosa87
      @LaMYsteriosa87 Год назад

      "He" sounds "hoarse" because it isn't him! It's a double, probably that Billy guy who took over entirely after Sep 1966.
