I recently attended a wood guild president ed notation by a japanese furniture maker snd teacher visiting from Japan . He used a similar jig but his was much larger it was sbout 15 inches in length and about 10 inches wide and 7 inches high the front was open like a box but was 45 degrees on all sides of the opening. he would move the wood from left to right to shave the angle. It was interesting to hear that there are 3 levels of licensed professionals workers carpenters that built structure , carpenters that built internal structures and then furniture makers. All take government written tests and have to do work related to their field within set periods of time 4-5 hours .
Thanks for making this! It was fun to see you film with a camera person. This seemed to lead to more establishing context around your work scenes e.g. getting tools off the wall, more preamble on the table saw cuts. I liked it.
Love your videos. Very entertaining, extraordinary craftsmanship wrapped in a humble and humorous package. The more I watch the more inspired I am to attempt hand cutting dovetails just cause it looks so dam satisfying.
Love the jig idea, remember seeing it in earlier videos. A minor nit if you would allow. If you're actually talking to us! Please talk to us, not to to some other off screen camera. I've noticed some other RUclipsrs doing this also and I'm not sure what it's supposed to convey!
The jigs are great. The results are wonderful. That said, let’s hope your Average Joe Woodworker doesn’t attempt to make these jigs with short pieces run through jointers and table saws. Let’s also hope that if AJ does try it, he forgets where he got the idea. Said in Luv Bro……
I may have to watch this again, but didn't you say that you wished the flat part of the jig was bigger so the clamp wouldn't slip around as much? It looks like there's not much room to clamp down the walnut one?
You need to put the spring back on your jointer blade cover before you lose a few fingers. You also need to dump that crappy miter gauge you have and get an incra gauge.
On your pod cast with mark and Shannon you talked about how having the camera man on this video was difficult to get used to. And you felt like you had a different on-screen personality. Just one fans opinion here but you definitely did have a different personality. The what I would call trade mark giggle was completely absent. The video was great but different. We're here to learn how to do things and you always do a great job doing that. But it was also obvious how much fun you were having. This one seemed more like a job. Which i realize it is. Hopefully you get used to the cameraman or go back. The pairing guide is outstanding

Lol been there. Classic
Thank you for your time making the film. I’ll be making one tomorrow.
What a difference a sharp chisel makes.
Love the sound of the chisel through the wood Matt
Great video. Always amazes me how crazy sharp your chisels are.
Yeah I think to myself, I will cut my finger off I I had mine that sharp :)
Never a moment of ambiguity as to whatever that thing-a-ma-doohicky you're currently working on!

About time you did this. I'll call off the hit now. Just kidding of course. I just found todays project.
😂😂
We were using a aluminium type one 30 odd years ago which is more robust and less prone to wear and warping
Useful. Thanks 👍 😊
Thanks Matt~!! I'll be making one or two of these this weekend~!
Love that SlabMaster shirt!
You always have interesting content. Great miter thingy!😅 What kind of chisel was that?

More impressed at sharpness of chishel
Do you have a video explaining the video equipment and editing software you use? Pros and cons?

New camera ? Video looks really crisp

Thanks for sharing. On the last cut on the Walnut, could you have used the off-cuts with dlb sided tape to ma the final cut?
WOw.. So you made your own gun stock? I wish you had a video on that.
Things you do and don't mention.
You moved the jointer depth down and then back up to minimize backlash.
Very interesting, Thank you for sharing
Do you sell these? Wish I could buy one.
Love the jig idea, remember seeing it in earlier videos.

Miter block is very cool but...I think we need more cowbell!
The best way to find something is to make a new one.

It’s been out for 18 seconds and I’m the second viewer…damn Matt you have a cult
😁😁😁

Correct. The plywood one is better
Is this a tool you can use on the installation of the flooring and cabinets?
If you have beaded cabinet doors

⭐🙂👍
For the hardwood, should have reversed order of the cuts on the table saw. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the kickback.
Fanciest miter gauge fence I’ve ever seen!

Save yourself a lot of trouble by using a dovetail finger jig and a router, It's 2023...
