Not like for like but recently upgraded from a 2013 L320 to a 2020 L405. Loved both but the new one is so much more refined. Weirdly I love the dial gear selector.
Ive come from owning a few l322 amazing cars. But know purchase a2017 l405 4.4sdv8 autobiography, And wow im in love. To me it’s a l322 massively improved and more plush. But since i have piked her up the other day I carnt stop pinching myself. I chose a 2017 spec due it still has the dials for ac but has the better nav/ entertainment system to my was the best year of l405. To me both l322 and 405 are equally capable but the 405 is leaps ahead on important and refinement. But if you have a l322 and are happy with it that’s the most important thing. Irrespective if you prefer l322 or 405 we all share something in common is are passion for Range Rovers.
Here in Europe early 405 are nearly the same price as the late 322. I really can’t decide. Love the 322 as everyone does. But as a daily on mostly normal roads… the struggle is real.
Obviiusly i have no idea of your financial situation, whether you have the wearwithall to painlessly spend the extra money, but to be honest, i think the L322 has all that most people need, and, unless you're a millionaire, the 405 is just showing off😊
I think you’re right.. the L405 is lovely to drive.. but I really can’t see much of a difference in quality between the two! Certainly not enough to spend out on one.. thanks a lot for watching. ! 👍
I have a 2012 L322 and a 2013 L320.. Been thinking about swapping them both for an L405 as my L320 may need an engine soon... I can't decide if it's better to keep the L320 and simply swap the engine or if the cost of the repair is not worth it. Thanks for the video! Makes me want to keep my older Rovers
@@Nuecarautomotive What kind of model is P400? did it have a V6 or I6? I did not know they did any turbocharged petrol aside from the straight four unit in P400e. All the 3 litre v6 engines used in L405 I can find info about were supercharged
The problem is they made the L322 too well. Like you said "its peak Range Rover". When the queen who could have bought any car in the world, chose to drive around an L322, you know its a great vehicle.
had a 322 diesel 3 litre which was ok but a bit of a tractor and not enough power. My 2013 L405 have had for 7 years now 120000km 3 litre diesel/ Absolutely superb, enough power for me, only worry heard the crankshafts can break.. Mine is autobiography Gold with black 22 inch wheels. At 77 will not be upgrading , paying out another $160000 N Z dollars.
Totally agree. I’m thinking more and more about the L405. Fabulous vehicles that are unrivalled and yours sounds like a good one! All the best to you over there in beautiful NZ! 👍 Thanks for watching
@@Nuecarautomotive I remember LR bragging about how all the controls in the 322 were operable whilst wearing gloves, ideal for such a vehicle. All that went out the window because they've allowed marketing people to overule designers and engineers who always said how stupid screens are in motor vehicles (see the interview with Jaguar's Ian Callum in the Financial Times)
@@highlandmalt6368 yes absolutely. Tactile and still classy! God knows what these designers are thinking when they brought touchscreen into it. I’ll watch that interview! Thanks a lot for the info 👍
An L405 is a nice car. The L322 is a better Range Rover 🤙😎
You know it 👍

I have no issue with the dial selector, to me it’s refinement.
Best vid yet. Quality content lad. Touch screens can F off, agreed.
Thank you sir. Miss ya

@@stevoone342 that’s awesome. I find myself looking more at 405s as of late.. it is the next step for sure! Love them! Thanks for sharing 😃

I know what you mean.. prices are crazy. I just think the 322 holds itself a bit better but the 405 definitely had that more modern feel.. 👍
Don’t even think about it. L405 have way less problems and although the l322 is the shut it’s just not worth the trouble if it’s going to be a daily.

I’ve got a 4.4 jag V8 l322 and I really like it. But for a daily motorway driver I’d jump at the chance to get in an L405 P400E

I think to keep an older car running is awesome. But like you say if the cost is excessive then it’s a tough decision! Thanks a lot for watching 👍
Long live the L322 Ultimate Edition.
Dial selector is because of the 8 SP ZF gearbox, my 4.4 TDV8 has it, it’s OK, you get used to it.
Yes it’s fine I guess. Just a lot more advanced now! But that 8sp box is brilliant
Do you mean 3 litre ‘SUPERCHARGED’ p400? Or did they do a special turbo one for America?
the L405 p400 wasn't supercharged.

Well said! The L322 is very special and you only realise it when you own one 👍
L322 solid motor, L405 is just all plastic.
L322 all the way brah
Last facelift model for the L322 every day, it’s the last of the line that looks like the classic, L405 and up, too far removed from the original.

I love landrovers … but JEEP FOR ME 😊. XJ 4.0 straight 6 Cherokee .. do a review on one of them 📝
Same here! I’ve had a 2.5 td xj and loved it.. I’ll try get hold of one! 🤘🏼
I have both the 2011 range rover 5.0 v8 and jeep cherokee xj 4.0
Got all that stupid stuff like screens and paddke shifts in my Audi SQ7, hate it all. I'd sooner spend money totally overhauling my L322.
Yeh that sounds like a plan! If anything it’s so distracting trying to figure it all out !
