  • Narcissists tend to lack their own identities so they go around and assume that of others. Narcissistic people, Like myself, tend to take on the personality characteristics and traits of people around them that they either admire or are jealous of.

Welcome my channel! If this is your first time seeing my face or hearing my voice, my name is Lee and I am a self aware narcissist. I have narcissistic personality disorder ( NPD ) and I've been in therapy for my personality disorder since 2017 and it has definitely changed my life because without it, I would have lost everything.
The point of these videos is to help bring awareness from the other side of the narcissistic *buse spectrum. All my videos give perspective on why many narcissists do what they do and the possible different reasons behind them. The victims and survivors get validation and the Narcissists (those that are willing) get to see that you can get help and that you are not alone.

My ex mirrored me exactly as you said until the day after we were married. So bizarre!! Back then, before narcissism was being discussed everywhere, over 25 years ago, I had no idea what was going on. Periodically he would go back to mirroring me and faking like he was interested in what I was interested in. Those episodes became fewer and fewer. Mostly he ended up being his very negative self. It really was a mind f... in the end. Terrible. It's taken a lot of effort to fully comprehend it all. 😮

Too bad it can take so long to figure out these people. The damage they can do over a period of time is outrageous. For normal people, narcissism is a very difficult personality condition to understand. It is complicated. I have a family member I thought was a sociopath, until a recent episode that made me study the differences between a narc, sociopath and psychopath - BOOM! It was so obvious. Still I wanted to be sure as I could to be fair. I have read many papers, books and watched aver 600 videos to understand what is going on. And I am still learning things every day. My relative used to have me as their adored “pedistal person.” Then someone came along cooler and she put her on the pedestal and emulated everything about the new “adored one.” Then they both started bashing me. I was bashed behind the scenes for absolutely everything about myself as a person, and no one ever told me. They were so good t hiding it. It had been a relief to not be her pedestal person, but I was shocked to be told by several people that they despised me for everything I did, was and had success with for at least 20 years. And then I realized that I was the source of ALL her problems. Now I am her biggest targets! She believes she is always a victim and never at fault for anything. She has always emulated her pedestal idolized person in every way, just like Lee is saying. Several people now have called her out and had an intervention. It hasn’t been pretty and there is still a thing or two to play out. I have pretty much pulled the shade on her and feel better for it. As a family member, though, I had to establish with her what I would and would not do with her in the future. That part of it has worked out well so far. She and her husband are seeing separate therapists now. He is gaining strength and she does not like it at all because she can’t control him, although she tries hard. Time will tell how it works out, but I am thankful to know how she really feels about me. A narc thinks the success of others should be theirs and they are jealous of the successes and happiness of others. Having no real personality of their own, is a hard thing to comprehend, but I had thought that about our narc for many years. She is 61 years old now, and I think it is a long shot that she can improve. Her husband is ready to jump out of the marriage for the third time. One day soon I plan to stop thinking about narcs and their personalities. Still, it is important for each of us to understand it enough to protect ourselves from them, and it takes some thorough study to understand it enough to do that. My heart goes out to kindly, devoted empaths out there who are locked into a relationship with a narc. The PTSD from the gaslighting is real for many people, and the partner of a narc can get so worn down and depressed, they hardly know who they are any more. I hope and pray everyone out there who suffers from such toxicity finds their voice and their strength to deal with it and get away from it safely.

My ex narc is a photographer. Be careful cause he uses it to get women. He uses it to take professional pics of females and it’s an easy, “non creepy” way of talking to them. He gives them free professional photos and of course they eat it up. He also goes to the coffee shop to edit and he’ll have his camera out.. again another easy way for women to see he’s a photographer.. a quick way for any female to come up and start asking him questions about photography or if he can photograph them.. it’s also a quick and easy way for him to share his social media without coming off as a creep. It’s all a coverup. They’re so calculating. Nothing is ever what they say it is. It’s a front, a cover up.

She couldn’t take his behavior so she started cutting herself in front of him is what he told me. I've often even pretended to change my mind and said, "I don't like that anymore." Just to see what happens. I can see how that stems from lack of self but a person that doesn't understand you're two separate individuals will always violate, space and boundaries.

I watch this episode last nigh before i fell to sleep and this morning it finally came to me. I married and was discarded by a narc at 20-24 years of age. I told my story hundreds of times to try to get clarity because there was no YT. After hearing Lee say that they act like you, my question was anwered.
The narc did everything I did, bowling, tennis, jazz, travel, jokes, etc that I liked. After we got married, none of that and the he laghed at me instead of with me. He made promises of a beautiful home and a car for each of us and never dilivered. Instead he gave me the silent treatment and moved me into an apartment with roaches and mice, something that I was never exposed to.
After 2 children, he discarded me for going to college. This whole pattern confussed me until I listened to Lee and other people on YT who contunued to say this is the pattern of the narc. This is shadow work. I, at age 62, can see that this is common and a pattern with certain types of people that I have learned to avoid.
I'm just glad I didn't go back or wait for him to change for the better because I would have wasted my whole life.
I did finish my college degree, went into the military and traved the world and lived in places some would only dream of and made many friends that I would not if I had stayed or been waiting on him.
The best lesson that I learned is, leave at the first sigh of disrespect. If they do any of the red flags, leave and don't go back. 40 years went to fast to wait for someone else to make you happy. Find yoursel, be yourself and make yourself happy.
Army Woman. Thank You Lee and my other diciples.

Non-narcissists will model themselves after others to improve. So, what you are saying is the motive for narcissists is different. Non-narcissists will want to improve themselves based on someone they admire, but not due to envy or for unhealthy purposes. Is that right?

Well, that is not so bad, but they take also friends, money, health... and that is away from the victim. Victims still have their identity when they are cloned.

    • @Thomas-ps9qk
      @Thomas-ps9qk 7 месяцев назад

No you don’t understand. Narcs will take your identity, and then pretend like you copied them.
They’ll take your interests and then make you explain to them why you actually do like the thing you like… then they’ll use that story to your own detriment.
You say something witty or come up with a good idea? They’ll take that too and if you complain they’ll gaslight you.
When a narc has an identity supply from you, it will really drive you crazy. Trust me. Someone copying you through admiration is not the same as a narc. A narc will make it competitive, act like you’re copying them if you ever mention it and then gaslight you.
I once told my sibling who I believe is a narc my dream goal, they made it their dream goal and now acts like I got it from them.
It got to the point where I didn’t like discussing things like this with them and they didn’t like that at all so they started telling other family members how selfish I was and how I was unsupportive.

I feel this way, I feel that I don't know who I am.
I was raised by my grandparents in a neglectfull home, my grandpa' used to faith a lot with my grandma who used to get drunk.I recall my grandpa's anger , putting a faith for days and humiliating my grandma.I recall the cold of winter days in a small poor room, being filthy or waking up in the middle of the night alone and not knowing where they were, why I was left alone
At the age of 3 after visiting my grandpa' s sister I was sexualy abused by her son and caused me a strong dissociation that followed my years and years.
Soon after I got to now my mother who rejected me ,screamed at me and had a suiccide attemt wich I taught was my fault. Also by then my grandma left me in a strange home for me with the purpose of addoption and because I was so scared, I wet the bed and I was biting the sheets ,the lady said something is wrong with me and complained to my grandmom and finally tooked me back with in the village.
I had been several times trough sexual abuse by the age of 6 , rejected many times by my mother who used to have a very angry display at me when she used to come by.
At 6 years my mother tooked me to the town to babysit my younger sister, 6 month age and we were left outside ,on the street while she was at work.I was humiliated by neighbours because of this but no one stopped to help.
After 6 moths I returned to the village untill the age of 9.I was struggling..one of my molester was in the same school and also neighbour and used to wait for me to go home and keep bullying me .I recall that in that school a couple with a baby entered in our class room and my teacher asked me if I know who they are..I thaught I did something bad to them..but it was my father..and I was so scared because I didn't knew him.
I recall my grandmother"s alcohol problems..people humiliating her, me being scared that we are lost and not able to get home..my grandpa's anger and rigidity, his misstrust in people..my mother violent behavior with my gramother..and of course with me.
At 9 I went back to the town to live with my mother and my two sisters wich I did not knew and I felt like dying of fear because I had to live with my biggest fear..my mother..
I don't know if I am a Narcissit, but I feel like one

And after watching your videos I now understand what he was doing. And i could always tell if he was talking to another female because he will drink her same kind of drink or use the same kind of blunt wrap as her things like that. But you also have to be thankful because I never imagined that I am such a carefree person. If he mirrored me in the beginning I was a very happy, sportive and carefree person... But yeah I know he doesn´t know who he is by himself... (and sadly the mirroring character was not real - because it would be the best...). I didn´t like the person at the end at all. (But I know that sadly the person was not a fake one)... Mirroring people is not always a good thing - because you also begin to mirror bad habits and wrong-behaviour. So in fact a long the way you realize what strange people (I write strange because that is more polite) such a person meets in his/her life. But yes there is never an authentic self. (There are a lot of masks and you never know what mask is put on - it can switches very fast).

And looking back they were all mostly feminine things lol It fizzled and time went on, I got back on the dating site only to see he copied all the stuff I had on my profile that made ME authentic and put it on his. She also did this with cajun, irish, jewish and hebrew because she is deep into her church. Her dad is a white biker cajun, and mom idk just white as well but she wanted to tell me she knows her dna without a test, she can see inside and feel what her dna is.a bit much over the top to be honest. Just simply saying could get a dna test could set her off

he did this so much he even applied to a job I worked early on without telling me that i had been at for 2 years and counting at the time ..and got hired and after I found out he acted like it wasnt a big deal but it obviously was .i didnt mean him at work and wasn’t interested working with him ….fast fwd 6.5 years later I lost count of all of the mirroring situations but didnt know what it was for the first few years … smh its WERID I mean he would even laugh like me …
I stopped sharing my goals with him bc he would literally copy EVERYTHING 🤯
