    This is a really neat prop. I am going to make this for my haunt. I have made these coals beds before to put under cauldrons but like other comments I wanted to be able to replace any burned out lights. To accomplish this I used cardboard for the base and then hot glued the bottom of plastic water bottles onto the cardboard. Then I poked holes through the cardboard under each water bottle bottom and pushed one light in each hole. I just taped the light wires under the cardboard. After that I put the foam over everything and finished it out much like in this tutorial. It worked great. Anytime a light burns out I just have to put it out through the hole, put in a new light, then push it back through the hole.

    I would suggest getting disposable turkey roasters and putting the foam on top of that so that the underneath can be easily accessed to make the lights more postionable or added onto later. Also the reflective bottom would mean you would have an added glow. I also would have "corpsed" the skull and possibly added an eyeball to it

      You spray the foam first then after curried and painted and dry then use flickering orange lights and push them into the bottom side of the foam as close to the top surface as possible. You will be able to replace the lights when needed made one 5 years ago

    Nice! I did this with a big cauldron. Stuck sticks and bones around it like the witches had been tossing there leftovers in the fire. I used orange and red led lights with 1 set that fades in and out to simulate the glowing embers. I wish i would have thought about tossing some ash and chunks of burnt wood in there as well. Good idea.

    Just a quick suggestion...the Dollar Tree has red battery operated strings of lights and orange too, just so you don't have to find an outlet to plug into or use an extension cord. Also, I use the red paint for emphasizing the embers, so I spray the red paint on first so that I can get in the holes that the light will be shining thru for a more sinister glow. Then I add the bones and shoot it with the black. I've only made this kind of thing for under cauldrons and at the graves where ground breakers come thru...I never thought to use it as a bone burn pile, thanks for sharing this great idea!! Great job!!

    great stuff Fireblock foam is orange, makes a better base, dry brush black paint on for better contrast when lit, great stuff black pond foam could also work for contrasting dark coals

    That’s an awesome project. The only thing I may do different is to bury the foam in fresh ash and coals then when the foam is set up just blow off the loose stuff.

    This is fantastic! I did something very similar just making it look like super fresh coals from a fire, but you have taken this to a whole new level! Definitely making something like this for this years Haunt! Excellent job!

    I would have suggested adding the real wood and ashes on after the paint while the paint was wet so the ashes are the top layer opposed to the paint.

    Maybe put some purple fluorescent paint just kind of dusted on there that way when you hit it with a black light it kind of gives an outline of the bones and stuff that would’ve been cool

    Lay the bones anatomically correct. A body in a fire isnt going to have bones randomly scattered.

    • @IceHausDogTraining
      @IceHausDogTraining  4 года назад +4

      Lol, if the body had been dismembered then they would be random. You’ve just got to go to a darker place to understand the level of my Halloween sickness👻

      Allison Williams It’s approximately 2 feet wide and 3 feet long. Rough guess but close to that

    I don't like this style. I made mine using chicken wire. How are you supposed to change your lights when they burn out? Would you just throw the whole thing away?

    • @IceHausDogTraining
      @IceHausDogTraining  4 года назад +1

      branchcore I used the kind that if one burns out the rest of the strand stays on. To answer your question though it only costs a few bucks total to make so yeah I would just remake it. I enjoy making this type of stuff though so it doesn’t bother me to do it again. This will be the third Halloween I’ve used this one with no problem though.
