Everyone mentions how he lost to tito 4 times,but that was after his long hiatus and after his stint on WWE which made him worse. he came back older and more aged and his rustyness showed. i feel that the shamrock prior to WWF cannot be compared to the one that came post WWF. shamrock from 93-97 was a beast from another realm. besides losing to gracy no one could fuck with him. i remember getting the original ufc tapes on VHS we bought from a thrift store after local word of it. around the time the dudes were aloud to punch in the balls and had no gloves. that shit was crazy. and shamrock was unstoppable (except for gracie). after WWF he was never the same. to his credit, he did start his career late (29). if he would of started earlier who knows what his record wouldve been.
It is such a shame that Ken fought on so long becoming a complete journeyman fighter with no chin and shot knees. I was at his fight in London in 08 and he lost to a guy that he would never have lost to in his prime. Was really sad to see. At his best he was the best!

The rules in their “super fight” format at the time didn’t allow for decisions, only a clean win by ko or submission or a draw. Yes, if you look at every move Ken made in this fight it was very technical and well timed -- distance, stance, footwork, right hand counter, shoot, takedown, arm and wrist control, leg separation... A series of difficult moves to pull on an opponent at the highest level like Bas, who usually just kicks someone in the head, throws a palm, and then a liver punch or a choke to finish you.

Ken only started to lose fights after coming back from WWE. Torn ACL, neck surgery, multiple meniscus surgeries left him crippled. That's why he would mainly trie to strike. He couldn't shoot for takedowns or grapple much due to accumulated injuries.
Ken was pumped the fuck up, and very possibly on roids. Being that pumped can allow you to move explosively without slowing down. When I first saw this fight I was in shock because I thought Bas was unbeatable. Definitely didn't think he would lose that quickly.

Plus he got injured in the WWF, his last great match was with Don Fry, probly Dons last great macth too and he should of retirted after that.
Yeah Don fry is another legend, that match was great, frye won but shamrocks heart and determination definitely was not overlooked.
