  • Running an Etsy shop can be tricky are you making these Top 10 Etsy Mistakes? Here are my tips for Etsy Beginners
    1. Complete your entire Etsy shop, including shop Policies.
    2. Make sure you have clickable and cohesive looking shop and product images.
3.Use all or most of the Etsy shop photos with 7 different styles of photos.
4.Do your keyword research. Keywords are the only way you can get found.
5.Use keywords in your shop title, first paragraph of your shop description, product title, first paragraph of product description, and product tags.
6.Pick keywords with some competition but not a lot so that you can get seen, not lost in all of the noise.
7.Put the most important keyword first in your title.
8.Tap into buyers emotions in your descriptions and product descriptions should be approximately 300 words. Think how can I improve the life of my customer with this product.
9.Once a day add products to your Etsy shop increasing daily to a minimum of 100-200 products in your shop.
10.Make products where you can sell multiple quantities of the same thing. Etsy algorithm likes to see sales and then renewals.

    Thanks so much!
    To the busy ones:
    1. Completely fill out your ETSY shop
    2. Ensure good pictures (light, quality) of your products
    3. Use as many ETSY picture slots as possible
    4. Do keyword research (narrow it down)
    5. Add keywords to title, 1st paragraph and tags
    6. Use low-frequent keywords (less competition)
    7. Most important keywords should go first
    8. Use at least 300 words in the description (use emotions)
    9. Post ~1 product every day (dynamic shop) and increase options (~50 items)
    10. Use multiple items (e.g. make multiple bracelets)
@Southern Charm Wreaths: If you do not appreciate this comment pls just delete it! I definitely do not want to interfere with your wonderful content in the video! :) It's amazingly helpful to listen to all your explanations.

Yes,I use the same keywords other bigger sellers are using but the problem with that sometimes they will still choose the other seller because they still have a bigger ranking and have bigger feedback on the same item.So sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

That is the struggle when you are new to the game. It is logical that people are going to go with the better ranking seller because of perceived bigger experience and better feedback but you keep going at it and you will too be a big seller someday too.

I have not been able to get myself to work on my etsy store for some time. I became very discouraged after a non existing holiday season and a hard look at my profits. I take terrible pictures and became very frustrated also with my health I cant do any of the crafting jewelry making I started the Etsy shop for. It takes me hours to complete a listing. And for this reason I gave up but I still have small sales each week. But after this video I feel you have given me some good advice to help improve and bring my shop to a more profession level. 28:00 well ther's my problem I guess. One perosn backed out after I quoted them the market average for custom artwork that is very labour intensive. I then thought I was being arrogant and immediately slashed my prices by half. Then another client said (after they paid me) shouldn't I be charging more? I was perplexed. It's because I have never been above the poverty line myself and always look for the cheapest thing. online. I guess normal people don't think that way especially when trating themselve sor gifting someone a luxury item such as bespoke artwork. I have always denied myself these things because I couldn't afford them, and I never will unless I can price high enough to earn at least the minimum wage.

Etsy follows the old fashioned way of SEO....numerous listings. This is why you see shops with 150 items.. The variations are very similar. It is so that the more times the term is repeated, the more likely the item will be seen on the first page. My plan is to use FB along with own site.

Just watched your video, you have some great tips. Tip number 10 is not always true, take it from someone that worked in factories for around 30 years. One of them was a tee shirt factory, they had orders from well known brands, plus they made their own brand. Their shirts were $10.00', name brand was around $30.00. The thing is, both of them were made with the same cloth, thread and the same workers. So yea, higher price doesn't always mean better made, your just paying for the name.

    • @southerncharmwreaths
      @southerncharmwreaths  5 лет назад

In reality yes but not in a customers mind their perception is higher price = better quality. They don’t want to take chance and make a purchase if they are worried about quality. Perception in this case is the reality. ❤️Thanks for your feedback.

Southern Charm Wreaths oh yes, what your saying is absolutely right, most people do think that way. I do with some things. There are times when I am searching for something and see more then one person selling something, when I see someone's price is way lower then others, the first thing I think is " I wonder if any things wrong with it"

I found your video very informative and I am going back into my shop and implementing some of your suggestions. I started my shop in October 2019. I also like that product of the month idea. Need to find out more about how to implement that in my Etsy shop? Thank you.

Etsy says that your titles should be as short and descriptive as possible, and etsy rank tends to think that the longer titles make your listings written for computers and not people who do searching. I always get so confused because the advice I get from other sellers seems to clash directly with what Etsy actually tells sellers to do.

PRICE: You are exactly correct on price. It the easiest thing to give away and one of the hardest to get back. And to your point it often doesn’t work.
That fact is taught in every MBA program worth its salt.

But Etsy limits the number of characters in keywords....

Hi! I'm not seeing those orange boxes anymore. Is there a better way to find them? I know I've asked about this in other groups and was told those didn't mean anything and that they were just suggestions and not necessarily what people were searching.
    This was in Tip #4

Also - how many different items should I have before I open my shop. You said 50 different items in this video. That would take me quite a while to make.

Hi! I just stumbled upon your videos and absolutely Love them! Thank you so much for all your great advice! I was hoping you could answer a question for me. I set my etsy shop up a year or so ago really not knowing anything so of course did a lot wrong including poor SEO. My question is, can I completely revamp my store and start getting better traffic? I've watched a few videos that seem to suggest that once you have a listing published, due to Etsy algorithms, rewording the title and tags won't do much for you. Is this correct? I'm trying to decided if I need to just start an entirely new Etsy shop or take the time to overhaul my existing shop? Sorry this was so long!
