Heath Ledger as the Joker is the best, deep, comprehensive and dark acting I ever seen. I can't think of anything better. Sometimes records are set that never, ever will be best. Examples are Joe DiMaggio's consecutive hitting streak, Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points in one basketball game...ect. This is the case with Ledger. Astonishing acting in that movie. Like he channeled the role in a way that can never be topped. I can watch that movie and never get tired. I read many times he locked himself in a hotel room for a month. Unbelievable. The Pianist was close. Till this day I watch that movie, I cry like a baby. That movie was one of the most believable acting I ever seen. Sometimes you watch a movie and you can tell they did this or that with one take. There are some things special effects can enhance and other times you can see right thru it.

That's why I don't shame or berate actors/actresses when they choose to drop out of a role, movie, or show.
At the end of the day their the ones that have to deal with the psychological ramifications and physical ramifications of it.
Its their bodies that their responsible for at the end of the roles.

The Joker was a fun character in the 1960s, now they're getting into real psychology to make him too realistically sick for the actors themselves to handle.
