A subtle but amazing aspect of this show? You can actually see the evolution of our culture via the audience. Clothing, hair styles, cheers, claps, and even welcoming the the contestants all changes depending upon the year. TPIR is more than a game show, it is a study in social evolution!
I don't know who can say that Bob died 10 years ago. He simply did not! He retired from Price in 2007. I hadn't heard that he had been in the hospital. I pray that he can make it to 100!. It was so close for Betty White. She was only 2 weeks or so away from her 100th!. I miss Bob on the show. We were really lucky that he didn't get sick from Covid. So many senior citizens caught it & passed away. I was fearing for him actually. He is a legend & I am lucky to have the book he wrote after he retired. I wanted to make sure I had something from him & his legacy of being the star of my favorite game show since after I was born. I only wish I had been able to see the show here in Las Vegas when he brought the show here. That would have been fantastic!. It was fun when he brought the show to the Rio Hotel. My husband & I had to work when they came to do the show & wasn't able to join in.
Man I miss this show. Yes it still comes on, but I remember watching Family Feud and TPIR at my grandmother's house back in the 1990's. CBS daytime was were it was at!
Show still entertaining, but Drew is no Bob Barker (who is though). Drew is good, but has absolutely NO enthusiasm when reading the bid price at the end. It's like he's bored and ready to go home.
@@a.b.sproductionsllc It's because Bob wanted Drew as host, that's why he got the job. It was a show produced by CBS, but Bob pseudo owned it because he'd been hosting it for as long as he had. I had heard Roger Dobkowitz left the show due to a falling out after Bob had left, but I haven't actually looked that up, again just going off what I heard.
@@movie0007 I believe Roger Dobkowitz worked with Drew for only his first year before leaving/retiring. From his Facebook messages he has nothing good to say about how the show’s is under Drew Carey.

His voice was crackly, it wasn't real, he had no power, and sounded more like a broke Fozzy Bear than a game show announcer. He may have been a good person, I didn't know him, I'm sorry he's dead, I hate that his family had to go through that, but dammit, the man just was NOT all that as an announcer. Thumbs down me all you want, but fact is fact.

As a kid during the summer I used to crank the TV volume up right at 11 am when the show came on just for the theme. Lol
I used to watch this with my grandmother every day on snow days and summer vacation in the early '90s.
I get chills every time I hear Rod Roddy announce Bob’s name. He did it so well.
