  • The big news for the market report is that homes are selling 6% below list price as more homes on the market and less buyers are providing opportunities to buyers in getting sellers to budge on their prices.
Amber Haley, Real Broker and Julie Ziemelis, Real Broker discuss the stats, trends and opportunities in the East Hawaii housing market to include Hilo and Puna Districts.
Amber and Julie also discuss the Transient Accommodations Rental bill and some of the ramifications of the new legislation. We will be having a member of the Government Affairs Committee of the local real estate association discuss the bill in depth in another video, so stay tuned! You can learn more and read the bill package at www.hawaiicountytar.com

Only problem with using a hawaii credit union for a loan is they all require you to live in hawaii to join. I am from hawaii but have lived elsewhere for the last decade because I was in the army and then college on the mainland. Now coming back I wasn’t able to get a loan from a local credit union because I have a mainland address.

There are a lot of people on the island that do hosted rentals unfortunately if they crack down on this a lot of people are going to be forced to leave the island I see no problem with Hosted rentals

from my understanding if I have the "County of Hawaii Special Permit" (Allowing the Establishment of a Two-Bedroom Bed and Breakfast Operation Within an Existing Dwelling) that i will still be able to continue to conduct short term rentals.
    Is this also your understanding??

My understanding is that the legislation only apies to hosted svtrs. Can you confirm?

Question for you. Will svtrs whose license is grandfathered be required to convert to longer term rentals or is this just for new svtrs. Sounds like the former.

What a mess of a blue state for housing.

It certainly would be easier to attract medical staff if the hospitals paid a closely comparable wage. For my husband, with over three decades of expertise in his field, it will be exactly a 50% decrease in salary, IF they hire him at the top of the pay scale, and then the cost of living increase will deflate our income even greater.
But we still want to come! 😂
