You can order a set of the extended wheel nuts from Treal. Doing the bumper mount flips is one of the best mods I did to all of my Trx4's!!! As far as how much weight (brass) I only have installed the brass portal outer covers only. SSD are my personal favorite, 150gms front and rear and that's it. Bowhouse LCG battery tray is another!!!! Man I need to road trip up to UT and we can crawl!!! Two Tans in the sand is what we call the segment!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
This was my first rc and I have really enjoyed it. Like you said, quite capable out of the box. I recommend installing the overdrive in the front with the underdrive in the rear. 26% I think? There is no downside. Find a ridge or Crack and the front just pulls it up. The stock gearing is tall. You may want to drop to a 15t pinion. I did a 2 speed conversion, changed the spur gear, put in a 9t pinion. With a HW esc and HH crawlermaster sport 15t control is awesome. Plenty of wheel speed with the 2 speed. Anyways have fun with it! I'm enjoying all the videos. Thanks!!!
Would love to see a comparison between the Phoenix and the trx4 sport, and also here your thoughts about the two regarding price-performance among other.
You can cut the windows out to reduce the weight up high. Traxxas has a widening kit......works great and you will retain the threads. Great series so far !!!
HI LOGAN FROM ENGLAND SIR. IM REALLY ENJOYING WATCHING THIS SERIES SIR. I LOVE THE TRX4. REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HOE GREAT YOU GET YOURS TO PERFORM SIR. GOOD LUCK🇬🇧🇺🇸🕊️✌️👍
@@Justyoutubing479 IM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING WHAT WAY LOGON UPGRADES THE RIG AND THE PERFORMANCE HE GETS OUT OF IT. HE'S DEFINITELY LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS. YOURS DEFINITELY PERFORMS GREAT SIR👍✌️
Great video, very detailed and really interesting for a beginner like me. Question, what battery do you use and where do you place it in the vehicle. Thank you
Lower the shock oil rating to 20 or even 15wt. I use 10wt. It transformed my TRX4 Defender. Totally different vehicle to drive now. It allows the shock to work and not bounce your rig all over the place.
Dude I've done everything possible you can to a trx4. Would love to go over all of it with you. Too much to type in a short comment. My only gripe now after I squeezed all the performance I could out of it is it does not use universals for the front axles and it really hinders the max steering angle. I can't get full steering out of the front hubs without the cv's chattering.
excellent video as always 🎬. I would love to see a rc4wd c2x in your hands. I think it would shine with the right pilot. Since the c2x came out, there are many conflicting opinions about what it is capable of doing.🚙🚙🚙
before you just change the tires, the best free tire mod for a stock lightweight trx 4 I've seen was on roadside rc. I wore out my foams and have proline 2 stage foams, but they made the tires kinda stiff, he mods the shoulders of the tires, which makes the tires conform much better. I didnt see much benefit from siping them. Its an older vid july 2020
Just bought TRX4 sport, my first crawler and noting tips in your videos. I have done the bumper mods but am loathed to remove the sliders as they seem to offer some protection to the speed controller and receiver. As I am still learning I expect a few rolls and drops I am worried about damaging these critical items. What do you experts think?
@@westdesertwheeler Thanks. I have decided to raise the sliders 12mm to get the clearance. If the width becomes a problem I will re-think. Can you tell me what mode u use. I have tried crawl but the truck rolls back in anything other than a gentle slope. Any advice useful. Finally, what ratio overdrive did u use? Traxxas offers parts for 11% 12% or 27%.. This will be my final mod till I get more experienced. Many thanks for the videos, I am not “crawling”, excuse the pun, but I have watched a lot of videos and in my opinion your approach is the most practical and in addition I have learnt a lot by watching your driving style which I am trying to emulate. Unfortunately I drive alone, there are no clubs or others around who can share their experience and dealers just want to sell me lots of bling. Thanks again Roy (UK)
@@westdesertwheeler Thank you. I have decided to raise the sliders by 12mm and if the width becomes a problem I will re-think. What mode do you use? I have tried crawl but the truck rolls back in anything other than slight incline. Currently I use Trail mod and hold truck on throttle. Any advice would be welcome but you should know I am running Traxxas 7 cell NIMH which I acknowledge are heavy but were recommended by dealer. Finally, what overdrive ratio did you fit? Traxxas offer kits for, 11%, 13% or 27% overdrive. I do not wish to seem a “Crawler”, excuse the pun but as this is my first rc car ( I am 68 going on 16!), I have watched a lot of videos and yours are by far the most practical and informative. I can not find your first video of this series. Can you put me on to where it is? Thanks. Nice video man , I thought of removing my sliders, I think I’ll try it.
@Cruz I think that you will be happy with both but if you are looking for a great platform to build off of overtime get the sport and if you want a nearly maxed out truck get the defender. My friend has a defender and my sport keeps up fine.
So I was looking through the merch store what's up with the West desert shooter are you a shooter as well???? I got a 20" 308 I reach out to 900 with!!!
Anyone else have problems trying to get the four screws out of the spool trying to change to underdrive but they’re really really tight and I can’t get them lose afraid I might have to buy a new spool for it because the screws are kind of stripped out now
Logan, though you climb in polar diametrically opposed conditions than I, I've learned many crawling techniques applicable to where I crawl. I find this cool approaching absolute zero. Thank you sir.
Bro if you want to be able to compete with this thing you will need to do a lot more work to it. Need to chopp off the chassis get it down to where it doesn’t go pass the tires That body….. will need to either replace for a narrower ,shorter body. Or you will need to chopp it all up. Skid gets in the way Is too lumpy. I just got done doing the same build and she performs awesome. I’ve uploaded a video pulling some sick lines. That could never been done without all the mods I did.
@@westdesertwheeler Run the rear shocks about 2/3 full of a 3 in 1 oil and a food grade lube, the kind used for Hobart mixers. Make a honey texture. And crank down the spring load, make em springy. For front, have a good damper, and almost unloaded. Just a little spring tension to keep the springs in bottom hold. Shocks will unload slower. Keep the shock full of the thick lube mix. This trick will help your truck sit a little better
All about distribution, if it’s still 50/50 weight bias or not low enough it’s probably hurting performance. You shouldn’t need too much to get 60/40 weight distribution while keeping a crazy low CG by putting the brass in the right spots 😁
Flip the bumper mounts but put the front on the back and back on front and gain more clearance. Just have to trim body a little more
That was already done in this second video.
I just kept them in the same place just fliped them

Taking out the small triangles does a lot for the stock tires. That is if you plan to keep them
For a cheap and easy mod the pen spring mod works great for keeping the truck planted!
Could you explain about the spring please ?
Would love an explanation too
Augh. Now I'm wanting one of those. I already have a TRX-4 Defender so I'll stick with it for the time being. Sure do like that Sport though.
I just got a trx sport and was wondering Why underdrive the rear instead of overdrive the front
Great video, very detailed and really interesting for a beginner like me. Question, what battery do you use and where do you place it in the vehicle. Thank you
After you upgraded the motor can you continue to use the factory tq radio
Yes you can
Try adding weighted wheels in the back it will help alot and front tires
pennspring the shocks is a nice tips.
Vanquish bumpers fit perfectly , and you can smash them in more and just trim the body to fit!
I'm liking the bumper mod, works treat! I'm looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with it next.
Great series Logan really enjoying it 👍

Where can I get the stub shaft you mentioned that goes with the 8mm hex ?
MIP makes them. Wider stub shaft
Cutting the little nubs in the center of the tire and then sip the lugs, makes the tires much better.

Oh yeah man that’s where I started on RUclips. Check out west desert Shooter
Stoked you got some merch. I just ordered a hat 🧢
jx eco boost 21 kg servo blow your mind try it they are cheap an good
Try rubber bands to lower the truck on the axles
You should try a losi nightcrawler give it a test run
That was my first crawler back in 2011

One major thing is get rid of those plastic wheels and replace them with heavy beadlock wheels.
Oh yeah that’s on the list

You can get so much out of this truck for free
