- The complete step by step process on how to cultivate White Button Mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) by Directorate of Mushroom Research (ICAR), Solan.
Button mushroom cultivation has two major components, composting (preparation of substrate/compost), and the crop management, (raising of mushroom crop). The substrate preparation has undergone scores of innovations/improvements suiting environment protection laws in many developed countries. At the same time, casing medium has also been standardized with use of peat and its alternative materials (FYM, Spent Mushroom Compost and Coir Pith) with prime objective to improve productivity and quality of mushrooms. Similarly, the crop management techniques have also been improved upon to harvest highest possible mushroom yield over a shortest period of time. All the operations/applications done after completion of composting are handled under the head crop management.

That is great. Nauni (Solan) is the best place to learn about Mushroom cultivation and have good facility for all shorts of its varieties.
Nice video 👍👍
I've been spending time with the help of my son studying growing mushrooms at home then we discovered a fantastic website at Gregs Mushroom Grower (check it out on google)
here's a few tips to try
pick the best variety - there are many available.
grow them in the best conditions - some such as oyster muchrooms like cool humid conditions and can be put outdoors

Great video.
brilliant!
Will Pasteurization tunnel of size 15'x7'x12' be sufficient to generate heat above 60° ? In such a case, boiler room will be a must to induce heat into tunnel to pasteurize the compost.
Nice video
Very well👏
For pesticide spray on compost, any alternatives to melathion and decis? Carbofuran or Chlorpyrifos perhaps? Please advise.
What is that long round plastic between the shelves used for?
I like it
Hi! If i dont have wheat bran what can I substutute for that? Thank in advance for the answer.

Formaldehyde - I think we can avoid using it if we can sterilize the floor using hot blow that is used in poultry farms to clean the floors before new chicks are bred... Also what if the compost is boiled in water - will it not be good enough to remove ammonia and sterilize it ?
Yup that can work
Lovely
can you use Rice Hulls for growing mushrooms?
I'd like to start to have a mushrooms farm. May i know what materials do i need for white button mushrooms?
What will be total cost for the short method... including the shed, machineries and the ingredients for cultivating
Good informative video thank you for solan. And I have one question is that if there is no pasteurization facilities for casing soil, then how to treat casing soil? Please explain
2 litre formalin in 40 litres of water!!! It's right there in the video!!!
👍👍
please video with the translation because we are having difficulty translating. we are from Indonesia waiting for the video to translate. thank you
Formaldehyde? Could hydrated lime be used as an alternative?
I like the thatch-hut tek
always wanted formaldehyde with my mushrooms
Formaldehyde is not on mushroom
I’m from Tripura
What is better yield? Bags or Beds?
Do you recommend using the garden compose material for growing botton mushroom?
Garden compost may contain several other organism and fungus which may create problems later but there is no harm in little experiment if you want to try
Wow
Hi, very interesting and complete your video.
in the formulation for long method, in the third line appear CAN, i dont know what is that, i suppose its a chicken manure.
do you CAN explain me what is that.
thank you very much, from Colombia.
Monica Lesmes good
Hey, CAN here means Calcium Ammonium Nitrate.
Chicken manure is used in short method.
The process shown here is the standard one recommended here in India where Button mushrooms could be grown although people do have there preferences which they learn with there experiences.
thank you very much. i cultivate pleurotus and lentinula, but agaricus is new for me.
Great! I love lentinula. Agaricus need little cool temperature than these two and also the compost making process is little complex.
good hi i am study agriculture in cambodai i see yr topic in yr crop muskroom ...i want decument about crop muskroom ..ok
its not often Ive been surprized however watching this really would make anyone say wow I need to ask - have you checked out the website called gregs mushroom grower look for it on google
the long method compost why it is not pasteurized??? with heat i mean
Those who do not have any pasteurization chamber/room make compost through long method. That is why it is a long process. The heat generates in the compost pile and with regular turnings and the process ends when its free from ammonia.
If there is a pasteurization room with blower the compost can made in less time thus early cropping.
This all depends on the infrastructure available.
Mushroom, seedcaltivion
Indoor compost button ka video de sir
I want to ask you a question if you could answer it. What if the moisture content in compost is not adequate after the phase 2 tunnel in short method? Can we add watsr directly or i mean spray water over compost till it reaches the level of leaching???
You want 68-70% moisture.
Thank you for the informative video.
I have two questions for you
1-Can you deliver bottom mushroom spawn to Manipur ?
2- is the environment of Manipur suitable for mushroom cultivation
1. Contact your state Deptt of Agriculture regarding spawn.
2. It should be. There are many growers coming up in North East. Check www.nrcmushroom.org/ and you can contact DMR for any query.
@@abhimalayan l am from Mangalore Karnataka, desperately trying to get spawns
I have developed an environment for mushroom cultivation but unable to get spawn
Shashi Shriyan did you get spawn?
What to do with the spent compost?
+kulbhushan singh you can make vermicompost out of it ...feed it worms ...than use it your fields or can sell it
I was just looking for a way to grow some puff ball mushrooms for a side dish when cooking some moose meat. this is way beyond how many i'd be able to even give away much less cook with some onions and moose. Thanks though.
Thank you for your video. Please answer this question: can the compost be made from wild grasses instead of wheat grass?
thank you
Its better to make compost wheat grass or rice grass as they are easy to decompose. This way compost can be made in less time.
The process shown here is the standard one recommended here in India where Button mushrooms could be grown although people do have there preferences which they learn with there experiences.
Now I realise why button mushrooms are expensive and rare.
Actually button mushroom are the most commonly available mushroom in India even though the process is quite intensive

How is the marketing on this commercial base production?
@@thunglamohumtsoe5710 in India its not difficult to market button mushroom as it is the most consumed mushroom over here
How about oyster mushroom? I don't know if the growers only grow oyster that here and not much of button.
@@thunglamohumtsoe5710 oyster mushroom is very easy to grow and is getting very popular among new growers ...the problem here in India is that the consumers are not aware about the benefits of mushroom but now this trend is changing ...with this more and more new growers are coming up and growing oyster and milky mushrooms ...here market is not problem but unaware consumer is
What do you mean by CAN
Calcium ammonium nitrate
At 11:48 he says spray the floor with formaldehyde, NO THANKS, buying from these guys.
its says 24 hours before you perform the spawning operation ... however if you have clean floor you don't need to spray or you can use any other disinfectant which is readily available and more useful ... its all precautionary

looks like a very inefficient process, way too much labour
Chemical mushrooms !!! Too much chemical added
insecticides and fungicides are not for mushroom but for compost

Wow low tech to no tech labour intensive. Not profitable in today's economy.
Agreed but here in India the mushroom industry is still growing and also labour is cheap and available
