    As someone who can speak 3 different languages I can definitely relate to NCT. It's really hard and very confusing sometimes bc I need to change language and it depends upon the situation or to the person I am talking to.

      Yeah, I feel like what language comes out of my mouth depends on who I'm with and where I am. Like my default with people around me is english. With my grandparents or extended family, it's mandarin and a dialect. But when someone outside of my family tries to speak to me in Mandarin, my brain goes haywire for a second because it's out of the ordinary and I literally have to force a switch in my brain to not automatically reply in English. Also, I "think" in English for almost everything except when I'm multiplying numbers, I do that in mandarin because I had to recited the multiplication table 2x2 through 9x9 when I was like 8 and it's ingrained in my mind that way.

    • @yejizita
      @yejizita 2 года назад +1

      As a resident of Japan, I pretty much only speak Japanese with people around me, although that, I think in Portuguese and I speak Portuguese with my family, because I'm Brazilian. But a funny fact is that a lot of people here speak in English or Mandarin (foreigners, in this case) and I really have to work really hard to get something answered in Mandarin, because though If I'm fluent, with a native speaker and in a country where I'm only used to speaking Japanese, I really feel like changing languages.

    15:54 yeah there’s only a few ( more now) but back then from what I recall having so many members from different country when it wasn’t normalized was GOT7, that debuted in 2014 as they have half of the group being from different countries, 1 is Chinese but grew up in an international school so he grew up speaking English too, amongst Chinese dialects and some French because he used to be a fencer which is played exclusively in French and had to learn korean to debut, another member is from Thailand and also learnt how to speak Korean and picked up English, another member is from America but his family is Taiwanese so he speaks it ( Taiwanese is sort of a dialect of the Chinese language I believe) learnt also Korean and of course speak English as it’s his native tongue, before them there was usually just 1 member or 2 to the max that could been from another country but GOT7 really opened the gate for having members from various countries in one same group. NCT debuted in 2016 and I think that’s where it really started moving because and being normalized since then a shit ton of groups have multinationalities whitin it.

      I'm currently only learning 2 languages, Japanese (because I live in Japan, and even though I can read and write, I'm not really sure about my pronunciation so I plan to improve) and Mandarin. Apart from these two, I speak -a little- English, Russian and Portuguese (which is my national language, as I am Brazilian). So far, the most difficult one, without a doubt, is mandarin. But I've been trying hard, I think I'm getting better.

    Nct having problem switching between languages is the most relatable think in the world. I can speek fluently three languages (roumanian - main one, czech and english) and I can understand russian and a little bit of french, but everytime I need to switch between them my brain just starts to malfunction😂😂. Sometimes is really annoying, but you get used to it after a while and you dont really pay to much attention when you do it.

  • @laurainathunderstorm
    @laurainathunderstorm 3 года назад +1

    I speak 3 languages (one of them not fluently yet, just for casual conversation) and it feels like I'm lagging or something, I've been speaking so much English recently that I forget some words in my actual native language because it's been a while since speaking it. NCT are seriously amazing, they have 23 members and in total speak about 7 languages or so, it's difficult to communicate sometimes of course, but that's what made the foreigners bond at first, for example in this video you see a clip at 9:10 where a new member who is Japanese asks a Chinese member about speaking Korean, this type of situation is normal in NCity lol, also someone asking something in Chinese, another one translates it to English and a third one answers the question in Korean, it's the funniest thing, but also big respect to them for being able to make it work so well

    10:28 I’m a French native speaker but i very frequently use English so sometimes it gets all tangled up in your brain when you fluent in 2 languages or more. But if you try to lean an « easy »language maybe try with Spanish ! ( French is pretty difficult to learn) as for Asian language I think Japanese and Korean are easier to learn than Chinese ( because Chinese got a hell lots of letters and characters in it’s alphabet with so much different meanings)

    Edit: I wish I knew most languages of course, but my priorities would be French, German, Spanish (for talking with my friends that speak these) and Mandarin, Korean and Finnish.
    Also knowing Latin would be cool, as it would help in understanding other European languages.

    Haha languages are easy to mix up. I grew up fluent in Spanish so when I took that class and the teacher would say things and then repeat it in English I would be like... why'd she say that twice? Until I realized she said it in different languages. Also definitely the easiest language to learn is Korean imo. Yes it's a different alphabet but if you look up a comic called "learn Korean in 15 minutes" you can do it. Hell a couple of friends and I learned it in middle school. The grammar is different from English but it's WAY simpler. The most difficult part for English speakers should just be pronunciation tbh. English is definitely the hardest language I speak. Wish I could speak Arabic too because that is also hard to learn lol.

    My native language is Spanish even tho I’m kinda losing it cause when I try to speak it I forget some words ,it’s not that I don’t know what I’m saying but I forget words lmaooo
    My second language is English,I learned it when I entered pre-k
    And I’m currently studying Korean even tho I don’t have time to do it I try to learn some vocabulary and memorize phrases and such but yeahhhhh
    Summer of 2019 I was gonna learn Italian but I thought it was hard so I gave up on the same day and started to learn Korean a week after because I read WEBTOONS and I watched cheese on the trap for the first time as my first Korean drama so I was like “ hm that’s interesting “ so I started to learn as a curiosity, now in 2020 that’s when I started to listen to kpop
    😂 it’s funny how I didn’t want to learn it because of kpop but because of a kdrama I watched two years ago 😀

    QOTD: I’m only fluent in English, but I know some Spanish because I’ve taken Spanish classes for 2 years, and I know how to read and write in Korean, but I don’t know a lot of words so it’s hard for me to understand the meaning. I wish I was completely fluent in Korean since I want to go to South Korea.
