Tbh I’m jealous too, I wish I could speak all those languages but I’m too lazy to learn. Also can you guys react to Siren by P1Harmony( you guys would definitely like it, this group has lots of potential!)
Cantonese is actually a lot harder than Mandarin. Not only does it have 5 more tones, there is also a spoken form that you use daily but it's completely different from what you write.
Honestly English is really hard. The grammar makes not a lot of sense and there is lots of crossover. There are so many contradicting rules and the way letters sound together makes no sense. It's a phonetic system, but some letters can be "silent" when it comes to a specific word, like the words *"Yacht"* , *"dumb"* , or *"February"* . Words can sound distinctly different even if they have the same suffix. Like in the words *"through"* , *"thorough"* , and *"trough"* . As well as plurals, since the plural is "goose" is "geese" , then shouldn't the plural of "moose" be "meese". Also you can but two "that's" together and it isn't contradictory. Like the sentence *She knew that that was what had upset her sister* . My point being English is *not* easy and everyone should marvel at a non-english speaking person learning english.
English is one of the most difficult tbh like there’s no set rules for anything. But it’s definitely harder to learn a different language if you speak ONLY English, English is kind of integrated into many languages because of colonization so if you’re a foreigner you’ll know the basics at least but if you’re a monolingual English speaker you have to start from scratch because you don’t grow up exposed to different languages. I speak 3 fluently (english somali and arabic) and I’m learning Japanese it’s all cool until you’re trying to speak to someone and mix up them up together by accident. Sometimes I just lose words and can’t think them up in the language I need them in.
