Excellent review. Came across you by accident but glad I did. I will plan on getting the Ringside for my home dojang. Suggestion: maybe it might make moving the bag easier by putting some kind of lasso (rope) around the base. I wonder how the Wavemaster XXL holds up? Thanks for the review.
Have seen about 10 reviews of the wave master - this is the first review where someone actually gave it a proper kick and showed what it can(not) do - thank you!!
We use the wavemaster in our gym. Filled to the max with sand it weighs about 150kg, and it is solid. The one is this video is either filled with feathers or the guy is the worlds strongest man.
Agreed. When most people complain about the wave master it’s usually user error. They either use water or they use water and don’t fill it all the way.
This is literally the only real review of the ringside elite on the internet. I'm hoping someone will post a longer and more rigorous workout with the bag soon. Most of the free-standing bag reviews say the wavemaster XXL or 2XL is the best bag but I think the ringside might have it beat. It is a little tough to tell. I've had to watch this video like 15 times and use my imagination to get an idea how good the ringside is, lol. I'm thinking the wavemaster offers more resistance to a punch which is why it is more likely to tip over whereas the ringside has more sway due to the spring.
Yo Fro The Ringside bag is still holding up, the sway is nice but its dimished a bit since we first got it, it does leak a bit, not drastic but you need to towel up after using it for any real workout. Its still better than the Wavemaster though.
+Nate Wong, Hello, the bag sadly broke and I had to argue with the company to fix it unlike Century they only warranty it for 120days, not a year. They eventually agreed to replace the broken piece, its a connector which is akin to the flexible part of a bendy straw but obviously much bigger. That was was two months ago, and I haven't received the piece yet. So as for holding up it is not as sturdy as the wave masters, perhaps in a personal environment it would be fine but for a dojo, being used it seems a bit weak.
After having the ringside elite for quite some time I recommend the wavemaster XXL. The ringside base comes in two pieces so it would be real difficult to move. I have mine filled with sand. It is nice because the base doesn't move when you hit or kick it. However, it would be better IMO if the bag didn't have so much sway. The bag feels nice to punch and kick without gloves. When I go to martial arts class I mess around with the wavemaster once in a while and I realize how nice it is to have a free standing back I can roll from one location to the next and which is rigid. Ultimately, I will probably sell the ringside and get the wavemaster instead.
I purchased the Elite freestanding bag and it is very soft, I have been hitting it and I think that this bag is for cardio and not to build up power or condition your kicks. It is my humble opinion and I could be wrong.
I am also glad that I found this excellent review that made pick the right free standing bag. I have just bought the Ringside Elite Free Standing Bag and I am planing to fill it up with water. Thanks for the review!
I have 2XL, the older version filled with sand to more than a half of its capacity and it moves a bit on full contact combinations workout but you wouldn't be able to knock it over, not in the way the video shows. It is the best bag to have for full contact workout if you don't want to drill holes in your ceiling beams.
I am so glad I came across this review. I got my wave master yesterday and had it installed this morning. Anyway, I am going to rebox it and return it. I am getting the ring side soon. Thanks for the unbiased review.
The wave Masters will hold up for almost ever. Whereas the title bag will last find if it's just you using it may be one of the two other people but in a gym like ours it didn't last very long. I think it broke about six months after the review and it only had a 90-day warranty.
I got the ringside elite a few months ago. I really like it. The only thing i wish was different is the amount of sway. I wish it was just a tad more stiff. It wont knock over and the base doesnt slide around. It has also never leaked on me.
Great video, exactly what I was looking for. Would have liked to have seen you guys go at the bags much harder. Hope to see more, if possible. Especially a comparison with the Fairtex Max Bag. Thank you very much for making this comparison video.
This is a great review. I inherited a wave master xxl but without the base. But when all is said and done I’ll explore that ringside or something equivalent
Great review. Agree with many that it's hard to find an honest good review on free standing bags like this one. Just wondering how the ringside and wavemaster each holding up after few years since posting?
The ringside broke about six months after this review, and they don't warranty it past ninety days (small window) so its gone and we bought more Wavemasters.
I’ve been researching and watching reviews for standup bags and it’s surprisingly rare to find Ringside reviews. Im planning to train at home Muay Thai, but on the fence between century vs Ringside. Is this good for combos with kicks? Also, is there any way to tighten the spring to make it a little more firm?
If you want a sturdy free standing bag get the Wavemaster XXL. Fully filled with water, the bag will take high rate of abuse of heavy punches and kicks. If you prefer a "sparring partner like" bag, get BOB XL. I have trained on both and they are very highly recommended. I do prefer the BOB XL, just because I have plenty of access to regular heavy bags and BOB just feels different, like I am sparring someone. It gives you way better angle and preparation to a regular sparring.
Thanks for this . I'm looking for a heavy duty free standing bag, I dont want to drill holes to hang a bag or use a stand as they seem to take up space. most reviews suggest the century xxl, so this video seems very contradictory. Any problems at all with your xxl ?
@@Leightonpayne You won't have any problems with the XXL. I had two in my martial arts studio. I am a Muay Thai instructor and do recommend them. Now, during the pandemic, I train at home on a Century Torrent. Great bag as well. I believe it's actually less expensive than XXL, but I do get wholesale pricing. If I had to choose between XXL and Torrent, I would buy Torrent again. Just because it has a slimmer profile. I've been training on the Torrent for almost a year, raining tons of heavy kicks, punches, elbows, knees. The bag stands outside in rain, sun, and wind (I'm in Southern California) and still after a year looks like almost new. No water had to be added to the base.
@@mariocez7374 thanks Marius , what would you say the benefits are of this compared to a heavy bag that hangs from a ground frame stand, or are the stands better ? A lot of money for these century bags (UK)so comparing against the stand options too.
@@Leightonpayne There are numerous advantages of hanged heavy bag but there are still some advantages of standing bag. Convenience is definitely the first and most important one and then, training wise, the standing bag is always in the front of you, never swings back, ready for fast combinations of punches and kicks. Hanged back will swing away, making fast combinations more difficult to land. The XXL or Torrent just stands there, taking everything you unload, laughing at your face and asking for more. It's a good training tool for home environment. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks for the helpful review. Have you guys ever had a wavemaster break at the base from a strong kick? Some reviews said they broke immediately. I'm looking for a durable freestanding bag that can take a lot of heavy kicks without breaking. It falling over is less of a concern for me.
So you recommend the Century XXL over this? I saw in the comments your ringside broke. Glad I saw that, your video sold me on it. Trying to decide between the xxl and the bas body action system. Any advice? Thanks.

The Century Fight Bag was REALLY useful for hitting it and then hitting it again on the bounce up so it was constantly flopping into your punch. A GREAT cardio workout... but then the base got stretched out and it now flops and droops like a 270 dollar noodle... really regret my purchase.
Thanks for uploading this. I've been meaning to get a free standing bag for my students as well. Can't decide which ones better, the Wavemaster's cheaper but boy does the ringside elite look good. Where do you guys typically order the bags from?
Maybe a silly question but... why didn't you fill the Century with water (or gravel, much heavier) before kicking it over? The base is supposed to be filled completely for it to function.
Was wondering what gloves do you reccomend for the ringside elite? It seems like MMA heavy bag gloves would be plenty of protection, but do you all still wrap your hands with the ringside elite bag as well? Seems like you almost wouldn't need to. Thanks for the review!
Sorry so late, its a soft bag and has long since broken, but you really dont even need gloves the shell was flexible and very unlikely to harm your hands, as for personal preference, I dont wear gloves just wraps to support the wrist.
The website for Century says the 2xl weighs 270 lbs when filled with water. Did you have it filled all the way? Your partner slides it across the floor pretty easily. Thanks.
c beezer Yea mine is filled with water and sand and it takes a full force front or side kick to knock over. I'm 270 pounds and I am quite strong and I can never knock it down unless i do either of those mentioned kicks.
Yes, it was full the mats are rather slippery compared to hardwood so it moves without issue. Using sand is a option but when it break ( as one did long ago) I had a mess of sand about the training hall.

I think you would need to fill it to capacity, but cant be certain, the bag broke and Ringside only warranties it for six months, our broke after about ten months.
thanks for the info, perhaps not a good bag for commercial use. Only bag I see that flexes somewhat is the new Century Torrent. But still not as much as the ringsides.
Did you guys fill that Century Wavemaster with water or sand? It seems like most reviewers complain about the bag getting knocked over / moving around but they all fill it with water (which is still over 200 lbs but why not try sand from the get-go?). P.S. Is that the "2XL Pro"? When I typed XXL Wavemaster into Amazon it has this ugly/childish looking red XXL logo on it that doesn't look as classy as the basic all black one with "Century" on it.
that its the newest 2xl, its a downgrade from the previous model by the same name which was a bit uglier but held up better, as for filling with sand. I bought 10 bags at a time and the idea of that much sand wasn't something I wanted to consider. We have used sand for one and it worked well but had a downside, Its heavier and makes them less mobile which is essential for a gym like ours, second it holds the base more firmly, the problem is that that energy has to go somewhere and the result is the neck of the bag snaps more quickly, (just over two years), normally the bags hold up for as long as 5 years. Lastly in the rare case of the seal breaking or bottom popping you end up with sand all over your dojo.
Hey thanks for the reply! I'm about to purchase the 2XL Pro and I hadn't considered it breaking / leaking sand. Maybe I'll try to find some really fine sand so that if it breaks I can vacuum it up with a wet/dry vac...
It is, but its broken, they replace defects the first 90 days, afterwards its on you and ours broke, i suppose with just boxing it may hold up better. But for a commercial gym like ours I would not buy another, based on its durability.
Yeah had the same impression, which gave me some doubts. But at least they were very fair and added later on that the connection piece broke. On YoFro mentioned that he bought the ringside and now will buy the WM 2XL.
@@thomasbucker7215 the one on the far right comes filled and you cant empty it without destroying iy. Just put a 45 pound plate underneath the base and strike from the opposite side. it will never fall even with a real strong guy hitting it.

The large wavemaster are fine for boxing, not great for kicks as you can knock them over. This bag was really nice but with poor designation the bend and 90 day warranty it was doomed. Fun while it lasted but at its price not worth it.
Just get a rope or bungiee cord and tie it to to the top then to the roof it won't flop over then yeah it's not the best but if you dont have the money its a good alternative to have a few hundred

Maybe I'll try to find some really fine sand so that if it breaks I can vacuum it up with a wet/dry vac...
great post.
did you put sand in the bottom ?
No, water filled.
Is the ringside bag a heavy bag? I want to use it for boxing
It is, but its broken, they replace defects the first 90 days, afterwards its on you and ours broke, i suppose with just boxing it may hold up better. But for a commercial gym like ours I would not buy another, based on its durability.
LegacyMartialArts04 thanks I appreciate the help
how do any of these hold up for boxing only?
Likely much better than for mma and Muay thai.
this ringside is freaking 720$ here in Canada... :S
They all empty except for the ringside one🤔
Yeah had the same impression, which gave me some doubts. But at least they were very fair and added later on that the connection piece broke. On YoFro mentioned that he bought the ringside and now will buy the WM 2XL.
@@thomasbucker7215 the one on the far right comes filled and you cant empty it without destroying iy. Just put a 45 pound plate underneath the base and strike from the opposite side. it will never fall even with a real strong guy hitting it.
What the hell them century craps are amongst the most expensive didn't know they that bad
Why is this the only review on the ring side elite lol .... would u say this would last a while for my personal use? I’m about 6 feet 230 lbs and when u punch it hard enough do u feel the metal rod in the middle?
Yeah dont get this bag, it broke they wont replace it.
LegacyMMA that’s so sad cause it looks like a perfect bag... would u guys prefer any other bag similar to that bag or close to heavy bag since I can’t have a heavy bag at home, Something I can go all out on without falling or breaking, I been researching for a while and haven’t found much 😭😭😭😭
The large wavemaster are fine for boxing, not great for kicks as you can knock them over. This bag was really nice but with poor designation the bend and 90 day warranty it was doomed. Fun while it lasted but at its price not worth it.
LegacyMMA that sucks cause it looks like it could take a beating, I may just go with a wavemaster xxl, thanks a lot!
OUSS!!!
Omg you just saved me HUNDREDS OF DOLLORS
Just get a rope or bungiee cord and tie it to to the top then to the roof it won't flop over then yeah it's not the best but if you dont have the money its a good alternative to have a few hundred
@ 1:40
I got the wavemaster xxl if you put pea gravel in the base , I promise you, you’ll not knock it over !!!
kcomp123 exactly how many pounds of pea gravel should I use
