My Allavino VSWR172-2SL20 just iced up. Same reason, door left open. I took a less invasive approach. I unplugged and put towels on the floor, (I have tile) it took 24 hours to thaw. Lots of water, but back up and running at correct temp after about 32 hours.
Thanks for sharing your experience with repairing your Allavino wine fridge. I would love to hear how you recharged the refrigerant. I am not sure which pipe is the high pressure and which is low pressure in my Allavino.
Wish my allavino fridge had similar issue. On my 56 bottle allavino, I hear the fan spinning that you see on the inside of the fridge but it dont get any cold air to cool the wines. Just the fan itself will get it to like 65 but I have it set on 54. I opened up the back and notice that I don't hear any compressor noise nor do I see the fan back there spin so I'm stuck.
Very informative. Thank you 🙏

I had to call a service for the recharge. Spent $350 on that. Kinda steep
