These stories are so upsetting to watch. The unfairness and destruction of people’s livelihood and physical and mental health is beyond comprehension . The saying that ‘The law is blind’ is beyond rubbish. The legal fraternity did not seem to grasp the unfairness of the charges and procedures that squashed the life out of the defendants.

And yet it still continues.... The PO would prefer to pay expensive lawyers to argue over every penny these people are entitle to and deserve, than pay compensation and make amends. It the US the PO would have been sued for millions !!!!!
So, when postmasters were claimed to have been stealing from the community, it gets splashed in the local papers, but when suspicions mount that it was the Horizon software and a possible conspiracy at the Post Office's end, the tabloids are all hushhush? it takes an ITV drama to officially get the information out there, that is bloody whack..
My background: Trained on both ICL and IBM mainframes but worked 85% with IBM. However I did work on an ICL system for a couple of years. Interviewed with both the PO and Fujitsu but didn't follow up. Thank God! Fujitsu rescued what was left of the British Mainframe industry buy taking over International Computers Limited (ICL was a British computer hardware,software and services company that operated from 1968 until 2002) in an effort to take on IBM on the international and home market. That is why is some broadcasts mention ICL Pathway as the original system superseded by the HORIZON system. In my long career working in London,The Netherlands,Luxembourg,Belgium,Germany and The Czech Republic. I have worked on system installation,acceptance testing,Problem/Change Management and system development cycle documentation. In my professional opinion the original Horizon system would not have passed our industry standard ISO 9000 and would have scored perhaps a 12 out of 100. This is based on me listening to most of the witnesses to the ongoing Statutory Inquiry currently being presided over by a retired High Court Judge!
Very well said, they skipped the testing most likely to meet budget and timeline. It also sounds like no one in development understood how to both create all needed master test data and test transactions. In the USA/Los Angles a payroll system for the schools went in and any teacher who worked at more thank one location had their pay messed up, causing many to miss house payments when their direct deposits got backed out.
The main issue is the incompetence of the PO management. Wrong people where hired. The software could not handle the different formats required for all the different type of payouts and their corresponding balance accounts. The PO failed to understand the problems already in the "Capture" accounting software. When they do not know what to expect, they are unable to control the development of the new "Horizon", effectively leaving it to ICL (Fujitsu). It is the responsibility of the top management to be able to control this and communicate this. They must now be made to answer for their deficiencies!
Watching the way Paula Venel denied any culpability and would NOT answer a straight YES or NO.. reminds me of our AU Gov't Select Committee hearings.. SAME PLAYBOOK.. they must ALL g2 the same ACTING school..also KKKillary KKKlinton .. the way they have selective memory, hearing etc etc.. they have PERFECTED the way to side step, diffuse, walk around every which way but answer the Questions posed.. i'm so over these UNIVERSITY INDOCTRINATED career Polytricksons and Corporate MONSTERS the sooner these types are forever removed from the seats of Gov't, Corportated GIANTS, Deans & Professors of Universities etc the better off the rest of us WILL BE.. I've read and seen enough of this story to know that a great injustice was done. But knowing a bit about computer systems, I don't understand how only some people were affected--and those repeatedly. Does someone understand this?
Why didn’t the postmasters DEMAND proof, before signing anything or paying anything? Why didn’t they start running a paper trail along side their Horizon computer??? Why didn’t they get a personal computer and start a real-time tab along side the Horizon console? How can the government convict you without proof, even manufactured proof?? These people were too passive and accepting. I hope they teach their children and grandchildren to be more proactive!!! Whenever you are in charge of finances, if anything goes wrong, even if it has nothing to do with you, YOU WILL GET BLAMED!!!
Thumbs down on this video for Google Ads showing a crass and inappropriate ad during the video. Since it is not mandatory for Google account holders to opt in and share with Google our web/life interests, I fully understand that my privacy choice to opt out results in me seeing a generic baseline of ads which Google chooses themselves, allowing me to basically view our culture's minimum level of public decency. The ads chosen perhaps leave Google with the highest revenue possible when compared to other ad choices that are less titillating. Perhaps they are unconcerned that their choices of ads further degrade the society we live in. Unlike Google, I am very concerned that I was exposed to this ad because I have simply decided to keep my interests private. So here is my thumbs down (and this comment as well) as my very small way to speak these issues out loud which have already been communicated to Google directly. This comment and another thumbs-down will reappear on every video I see which is accompanied by ads we all should be ashamed of.
Please please please sort the music out - I am riveted to the narrative, but the background music soars like tidal waves. I do of course remain totally committed Justice for the SPM's. 💪💪💪

The audio on this video is really bad. It goes loud to soft and it’s difficult to listen too. The difference in volume of each change detracts from the whole programme.
I didn't have any sound issues.. could it be your sound system? Or possibly internet issues.. Just saying bcz i have had similar issues with equipment at times.. see if you have similar issues on other videos 🤔
I was going to complain about the poor audio and the awful accompanying and unnecessary music, as someone who has hearing issues I nearly gave up trying to listen to this video.🤬👎👎👎👎👎
