I purchased a 2018 Toyota Camry LE and it has 63,000 miles on it from the Toyota dealership and it’s a CPO even with the high miles. They offered me a good price and the engine starts right up and runs smooth.
My only regrets is that I didn’t notice it didn’t have a CD Player or Satellite radio..
I personally don’t put a lot of miles on cars, I work from home and I live in a small town that has everything I need.
My question is with the initial high miles, do you think at a later date will this bite me in the but especially if things change and I have to start driving in.
Also what maintenance should I get done at 75 or 100k so it will stick around a while.

I saw this advice. In looking for a high mileage, majority hwy miles vehicle, rock chips and paint damage on front facing surfaces can be a good sign. Also look at the brake pedal, and if little or no wear on the pedal surface, that’s a good sign of mostly hwy miles. If the brake pedal looks worn, lots of stops and goes.

Dealerships that take used cars in trade on new cars know enough to swap out the old rubber on the brake pedal for a new one. It's used auto schyster 101. If. It's brand new in appearance on a 50k - 60k mileage car or truck assume that it's been replaced.

hey Scotty! I bought a 07 CRV with around 225k miles on it. I took it to the Honda dealer to get them to do a quick check up before I bought it. There were a few minor things wrong with it that I was able to fix mostly on my own; with the exception on the AC. Turned out to be a relay switch and someone I know was able to fix it for me pretty cheap. Over 2 years later with almost 260k miles it's still running strong. Last tune up the dealership said that it's in really good shape despite the miles. I paid very little for a car that was almost 30k new and I can probably get 500k miles out of it. I live in TN so next time you're here let me know if you would like to include it in a video.

My 2003 Trailblazer LTZ has over 371K. It affirms my belief that if you take care of the regular maintenance you avoid bigger problems. I believe it also helps to have a timing chain as opposed to a belt. All vehicles have their quirks and design flaws somewhere. It just cones down to what you are willing to do and what you are willing to live with. As for my 6-cylinder Chevy, she starts up great, still has cold air, hot heat, and often runs for hours at highway speeds.

Had a 1990 f150 with a 302 I bought with 248k on it and sold it with 366k on it. Still running like a champ. The next one was a 2005 4.6L bought it with 17k on it and sold it with 277k. Still running fine. Now I have a 2014 with a 5.0 and it’s on 89k miles. Expecting a lot of life out of this one too

I have 2 high mileage vehicles, a 94 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 350k still runs great and never had the head off! The second is a 2000 Saturn sl1! 350k never touched the engine except for tuneups and a clutch! And a ton of oil changes!

Traded my 15 Ram bighorn for a 20 sr5 tundra in cement exactly 1 year to the day. Upgraded head fog and interior lights to factory LEDs. Putco tailgate light bar and Tundra mat with a cheap tonneau cover. Dearliship installed viper remote start. Not looking back. Plan to drive till I retire and I'm 44.

    1. My dad and two of my brothers had 2nd generation Avalons and were able to get over 225,000 each from the vehicles. They were not the most diligent owners in doing servicing. Mine is now over 16 years old. Very severe driving conditions - most trips are 1-3 miles and stop. No problems because the servicing is done based upon personal research and discussion with experienced mechanics. The sales tax and first year registration on a new Avalon is more than I have spent on servicing my Avalon in the last 4 years and more. Of course, my car is no longer beautiful. Road rash, parking lot clips by anonymous shoppers. Last year, the upholstery started generating non repairable holes.
