As you may know over here in Europe we have once a yer the Eurovision Song contest which is a huge event where many countries take a part in. Around that period several TV stations do create specials as also several talkshows will invite artists to do a Eurovision song. This was just such an one episode special where Dutch artists sing famous Eurovision songs. Rise like a Fenix is original done by Conchita Wurst who is a kind of transvestite, a guy with a beard in a dress. And "she" did win with that song.
This show is a yearly song contest where almost every European country (plus Australia) participates. The song has to be 3 minutes exactly and is sometimes theme-bounded. The winner’s country is where it’s gonna be hosted next year. Every country has a representative (off course) and in one week, they have to sing their song 4 times in total (including the final). Then, on Saturday, the voting for public (televoting) and final jury voting will decide how many points each country will get. Sometimes it’s a wild ride! The points are from 0-7 I thought, and the 12 points are given by a representative of a country who will give those points for another country. Haha I’m sorry, it’s a long story and I’m sure it’s missing some things but these are the biggest things i guess, have a nice day
