    To be honest I removed the whole front axle to put the pan back on after a RMS, but glad I did that because one of the upper control arms was damaged and a bit compromised. My new full control arm set is supposed to be here Monday and I’m probably gonna do as much of the front that will keep the new bushings from premature wear due to being beat up by worn parts.

    Awesome video, very well explained. One thing I figured needed to be mentioned is that my track bar mount has also been rewelded but not because it was once broken. Its because when you get the less expensive 4in lift, it uses the stock track bar and in order for that to work you need to cut a square out of the stock mount and weld in a filler piece so that you can retap a new hole about 1inch over to the right of the old one. I found out when I swapped a new axle in and it was impossible to get it to line up and be centered. Plus the old mount will not allow it to flex past what it would as stock because the track bar hits the top of the bracket

      I think something similar had been done to mine, but i have an adjustable track bar so I was able to line everything up

    When you take the caliper off you can put a pair of vise grips on the brake line so that way you don’t lose so much brake fluid just so you know.

    great video it's funny you said the track bar mount axle side was welded "not your welds" I had to weld the same mount last week I guess it's not uncommon to snap between the steering damper and the track bar on the mount I stuck a 2 inch piece of 5/8 round to make up the space between the two so it's probably better re welded even if the welds aren't that pretty I would keep and eye on those welds as I'm sure you know already welds when they tear tend to tear on ether side of the weld the 5/8s round really helped beef it up its a poorly design mount
    anyway great video. oh yeah what was the reason you swapped the axle ?

      I swapped because i had the rear axle re geared so I needed the front to match in order to use 4 wheel drive. I picked up the new axle for $50 and the High pinion is a little stronger than the low pinion. The jeep is also my daily driver so i was able to drop off the new axle at a shop to be re geared and was still able to drive the jeep around and swap the axle in a day instead of leaving the jeep at a shop and being without a vehicle for 3-4 days

Also has two different bearing hub assemblies ! The short and tall hat deal ! I want to think the short hats go with the composite rotors, but having a senior moment here ? Just be aware of it with 99's !

    You have 33s with 4.88 gears? How is that after a year? Around town I guess it is good, more power, but about taking a long drive? I like the idea of taller gears so I can pull a motorcycle trailer.

    • @AdmiralOffRoad
      @AdmiralOffRoad  6 лет назад

      Matthew Jenkins I actually have 35s but I really like them with the 4.88s. Plenty of power around town and not super high rpms on the highway

      How much lift? I plan to trim enough fender for Bushwacker Flat Fender Flares. I thought I would need the Notch customs Flares to fit 35s. I'm trying to keep the Jeep as low as possible. I'm at 4" now. I can adjust up another 2" easily, but I would rather not. I want a Low COG.

      Matthew Jenkins I have 4.10 gears with 33’s, not nearly enough. Over the years we installed 4.56 gears in the shop with 33’s, not enough. You really need 4.88’s. Remember if you try and compromise either the street or off road is going to suffer. I bought mine from a customer and use it for a lot of long distance trips so I opted to stay with 4.10’s. I don’t over tax or use my OD on the hills!

    • @AdmiralOffRoad
      @AdmiralOffRoad  6 лет назад

      if you are not lifted, there is a chance that the front axle can get in the way of removing the oil pan. If so, then yes the procedure is the same as in this video

    • @mccartneystuart
      @mccartneystuart 4 года назад

      It can be done without removing the axle. Jack stands on frame with full droop of suspension. Alot of finagling and be careful of that oil pump.

    Bro if I lift my Jeep myself from Ford F-150 shocks and leaf springs and everything do you think I need to take it somewhere to get it like geared and ratios and changed because I hear if you lift your Jeep that you have to change a lot more to the Jeep

    • @AdmiralOffRoad
      @AdmiralOffRoad  6 лет назад +1

      You would change gear ratios when you change tire size. My stock gear ratio was 3.55 I changed to 4.88 when I went to 35s.

    • @AdmiralOffRoad
      @AdmiralOffRoad  6 лет назад +1

      you would want to regear when you change tire size. depending on how high you go with your lift, there might be more to it than just new shocks and springs (track bar, extended brake lines, steering, control arms, etc)

  • @colddeath87

    Did you have to make any adjustments to get your sway bar on? Mine hits the coils and I'm not sure what to do

    • @AdmiralOffRoad
      @AdmiralOffRoad  4 года назад

      I'm not running a sway bar but longer sway bar end links should help keep the sway bar from hitting the coils

    • @colddeath87
      @colddeath87 4 года назад

      I did a rubicon axle swap and if I try mounting the sway bar where it is supposed to be from the factory it now hits the coils and there is no way for me to put it on. I guess I'll just have to relocate it

    • @wjlife4272
      @wjlife4272 6 лет назад

      Woofer Cooker very similar, there will be some slight differences, because the wj has different knuckles and steering. But it does have a low pinnion axle and you can swap it just like this. But the axle is a little harder to find with the correct knuckles. If anything buy the high pinnion axle and swap ur pre-existing knuckles onto it. Make sure it fits your wj though before swapping!!! Just because it’s a Dana 30 doesn’t mean it will work. But they are very universal.

    • @AdmiralOffRoad

      with only 35s, one tons would be way overkill. It came down to price and ease of swap. The brackets all line up and the axle width and lug pattern matches the rear. I got the axle for $50 and spare parts can be taken from the old axle and used on this one if necessary.
