Here's the deal, rescue the two in the woods in upstate New York, then grab the 4876 from Baltimore. 4876 is probably the worst neglected and most famous of all GG1's other than 4800 ("Rivets"). Use the two from the woods to cosmetically restore 4876 to historic shape and display her in Washington, D.C., preferably in Union Station. Put her under cover and maintain the restored GG1. One will never run again for a myriad of reasons, but it's a lovely delusion.
If only the workers standing around had started waving to stop but perhaps they acted as they would in real life and didn't notice. :) Very enjoyable video, love the GG1s
You also see the pantograph up while moving from its parking spot. I think this has to do with the way the model is rigged: when the locomotive moves, the program assumes this is because it is drawing power from an overhead line, thus the pantograph will rise.
Great work! Which end is the Front of the Locomotive? Usually indicated by a small "F". Good thing virtual models aren't solid or the pantograph would have been a twisted mess.

They are standing there folding their arms (08:07), gossiping (08:32) and drinking coffee (09:03), while "somebody really ought to do something about this". It has a fresh new paint job and is fully operational. If only we could have a fully operational GG1 irl.

Impossible. For one thing-at best this is a cosmetic restoration-you’ve still got a locomotive corpse. It has no way of using power because it’s transformer was taken due to PCB concerns. No one generates 25Hz current so there is no active power source. The cab signaling equipment is out of date. It would take so many mechanical and electrical alterations that it would no longer be a GG1. This says nothing about the long high hood, always arcing pantograph s in constant site, flimsy at best seats, and no climate control. Nice to look at I suppose, but they were Hell according to many stories.

Nothing new about this: the GG1 concept locomotive dates back to 1934, using technology that was available in 1910. The production models, made in 1935, 1937-1943, had few innovations over the concept model.
After the arrival to repair terminal, everything became digital and animated. Even when the "new Penn" came out of the terminal, it was animated and digital. The only real footage was the GG1 being towed. I question this video.

actually there is a prr GG1 in prestean condition Pennsylvania Railroad PRR GG1 number 4890 on display at the National Railroad Museum, Green Bay, WI.

Amazing work. Very inspiring to watch. (There's one tiny flaw though; the pantograph 7:56 - the pantograph passes through the shed wall).
