I don't understand all the complaining. The guy has his own way of doing DnB, and he's a talented producer at that. This video taught me a lot and gave me a few ideas for my own production. Thanks Wilkinson and CM.
I think the complaining has come from the fact that he's said alot of words ...but without no actual advise on how to get started or anything that's beneficial in the slightest.
My kid’s are almost grown lol. I’m almost ready to buy a house. I can finally build my own studio and learn how to produce while I mix Wilkinson’s tracks to pass the time. Lol.
i really wanted to watch part 2, but none of the links seem to work, so i downloaded the app on my ipad. on the ipad i had to look through all magazines, because there is no clean search funktion for CM260, just to find out the issue 260 seems to be missing. gonna cancel the trial soon after that. bad service, very disappointing.
Music that utilized samplers, computers, and synths as the primary writing tool has been taken much more seriously for much longer over there it seems.
It's mad isn't it, I always spot them too. Surely it's just for a little bit of colour or glue for the drum bus or something. I can't work out what is in the rack below it (something by SPL?), the Neve pre amps and the distressor below that though - dream gear!!!
what software is he using i always have ideas for dnb in my head but iv never had anything to make it real. the software he has looks like something i can utilize
This is excellent, something different from 2 sine waves, serum, multiband compression, distortion, resample.... snip ... aw well here's one I made earlier
You need a DAW first, learn the ins and outs of it until you’re comfortable working with it, then go from there, listen to as much dnb as possible and really listen to how the song is made, the structure of it to the sound design and the technicalities. Have a go at making some of your own, the best way to learn is to keep practicing, making mistakes along the way and to keep watch tutorials and you’ll gradually see an improvement. Good luck bro
Well, Imma tell you something, The song is finished, but not by him.... No clue who is the actual producer.... I'm kinda confused, but I already thought it sounded familiar as fuck Flite/Justing Hawkes - Joy Look at up :p
What? Do you know how many channels and layers are used to make good sounding drums? It's a science itself and I am curious about his processing chain and approach.
You don't get the point philip so why even bother - he implied it would be easy to make good sounding drums. Weirdly enough well respected producers took lots of years to get their drums sound on the level they are today. Sure you can just go on splice and take a "perfect" sample but if you'd open the project file of lets say noisia you would see how much stuff is going on there
I don't think he was trying to trick anyone into believing he is a guitar player. It's just another way for him to get more sound layers while using something other than a synth
producing EDM good drum and bass is extremely hit and miss. Coming from a hip hop background, hip hop was easier, because all you need is a good bassline or sample to start working. DnB starts with atmosphere or theme which is much harder to find.
Sadly in the second part he tells that usualy he makes drums with tr808 and then takes full drum loop(pre made). and brings it to the project, and that's it for the drums :/ I Was really waiting this video, but sadly it wasn't great.
Has anyone purchased part 2? He’s such a wicked producer but this is so basic and disappointing...I don’t want to waste money if part 2 is just as basic..
Thought I'd rewatch this after a while, now when I know how to produce, and honestly.. this tutorial makes me feel like he has ghost producers. Obviously a lot of production is about just messing around but anyone producing for 1+ year could make this kind of "tutorial"
When he played the first notes on the guitar it sounded awesome... But then after a few notes it just started sounding awfully out of key / tune. This was a pretty bad masterclass imo... Well cant complain too much for free content.
Honestly, this sounds bollox. I gave it enough chance. He knows damn well this is bollox too just had to do the vid. Absolutely disagree with all comments here
I am actually pregnant spencer. I am in the 3rd trimester. I miss you so much and wish you would talk to me while I carry our child & my only child I will ever have
To put it nicely, he sounds like he has some issues...maybe a bit special. Not the most articulate fellow. And his monotone voice is droning. He's a genius, no doubt, just doesn't sound like one.
FromFallToFlight ohh shut the fuck up. An artists music changes overtime, and his music certainly has not become garbage... just because you don't like it anymore, doesn't mean it isn't good

That's bc you suck lol
People hating because they’re jealous - every artist has their own way of doing something
My kid’s are almost grown lol. I’m almost ready to buy a house. I can finally build my own studio and learn how to produce while I mix Wilkinson’s tracks to pass the time. Lol.
Lol you only need a pc and a pair of headphones 😅
I also start with synth, it does make it a bit harder to get the drums in but you end up with a much more musical and natural song. Thanks!!
HOLY SHNACK!!! I’ve waited for wilkinson masterclass for years. THANK YOU! Hope some day I’ll see here the one with Dimension
Dimension would be so dope. If he could just teach me how to make Generator I'd build an entire career making and remaking that one song
@@mthokozisidlomo2369 be yourself bro
Love this creative approach. Makes me want to get to the studio
props for the bold move of showing the hard part of songwriting instead of some cheap phat growls anyone can make ;D
at least this dude doesnt use sample packs like 90% of everyones favourite dnb producers. he deserves credit for that
Wilkinson makes excellent music!
this is rad. shout out to the internet and ability to learn from all kines of professionals

I start with whatever works! I do find it harder bringing in drums after and making it fit but its not that tricky.
The buy link on the CM260 is broken. Where can we find a correct link for the part 2?
loved this, wicked masterclass.
so many nuggets of knowledge in here. big ups
How come all the best producers are from the UK?
Because the ratio of dnb fans is higher than any other country, given that dnb is a UK-spawned genre.
Music that utilized samplers, computers, and synths as the primary writing tool has been taken much more seriously for much longer over there it seems.
Cos we invented D+B mate. It's in our blood. ;P
Coz we're geniuses 👌
Shame the back issues available to buy online don't come with the rest of the video :(
That thing at like 7:00 where you down octaves, can you do that in other sequencers? Id lover that un FL studio.
Just play the progression into the step sequencer - then export to audio if you need to 😉👌
Thanks so much CM!
Have been waiting for this soo long damn
Pure and simple 👍🏻
Where do you find the second part?
Why do we still see the old TLAudio Ivory compressors in so many Dnb Producers Studios, do they still use them ??

what's the song playing in the intro of the video?
The song he makes clearly if you watch the video
Has this been released yet??!
Great tutorial! Is it me or does he sound like superhanz from the peep show? 😂😂
Haha what the fuck
what software is he using i always have ideas for dnb in my head but iv never had anything to make it real. the software he has looks like something i can utilize
Logic Pro X, for Apple hardware only
FL Studio, Ableton, Reason or Cubase for windows too!
16:16 great trick! saved my time=)
This is excellent, something different from 2 sine waves, serum, multiband compression, distortion, resample.... snip ... aw well here's one I made earlier
what software does he use
He uses Logic Pro
Unfortunately it's only on mac
It's like garage bands (paid) older brother
Me too!
part 2 ?
Dream is to make dnb music but I have no idea where to start it all seems so complicated atm anywhere anyone could help me find where?

basic drums. no processing. all in all really basic and boring.
interesting companion/counterpoint video to the Ray Keith Steinburg video (part 2)
What software is he using?
Apple logic
song id?
Does he talk about his drums and mixdown in the second part? Don’t want to buy a synth jam “tutorial”
All you need to know about drums, are ..... Attack and Decay. That is all/.
What? Do you know how many channels and layers are used to make good sounding drums? It's a science itself and I am curious about his processing chain and approach.
Andrés , Hardware and a little EQ to spice

the guitar "playing" was hard to watch, fair play to him though
I don't think he was trying to trick anyone into believing he is a guitar player. It's just another way for him to get more sound layers while using something other than a synth
What a surprise and dnb producer using serum
producing EDM good drum and bass is extremely hit and miss. Coming from a hip hop background, hip hop was easier, because all you need is a good bassline or sample to start working. DnB starts with atmosphere or theme which is much harder to find.
